Huge post incoming-
So I found about this staff condition damage build for Ele (it's for PVE, btw) that I'm trying out, it's quite fun so far. I'll share it so maybe you guys can tell me your opinions.
Traits:
10 Fire for 3 more seconds of burn on Signet of Fire
10 Air for 20% faster cooldown on Glyph of Storms and Glyph of Elementals
30 Earth for 20% shorter cooldowns on Signet of Fire and Earth skills plus 20% longer bleeds
20 Arcane for that one trait that grants buffs on change of element and, more importantly, larger staff aoe
How to use:
"Spam" Eruption to stack tons of bleeds, use Glyph of Storms for even more when necessary (when it's off its awful cooldown that is), use Signet of Fire when possible so the target is always burning. You don't get Healing Power from Water so your support abillities aren't too great, BUT you still give boons when swapping elements and create tons of predictable blast finishers from Eruption, which means your party can throw their combo fields on them.
Gear:
Condition damage, conditon duration, vitality/toughness (it's best to have these two as even as possible) and some power if you want.
My opinion so far:
My Ele is only level 53, so I do not have all the traits. I got most of the essentials minus the bigger staff radius, though, so I have an idea how it plays, mostly. Of course, I can't say how well it works in high level areas, but at my current level it kills stuff pretty fast. Usual, single enemies usually die/are dying before reaching me, groups are mostly easy as well cause Eruption covers a big area even without the trait from Arcane. Earth 3 and huge range of the staff usually let you deal with the archers without much trouble, too. It's very easy to kite as you don't need to be facing the enemy to use Eruption, and toughness and vitality from armour make me not completely squishy, which is great. On the other hand, though, I am absolutely not convinced about investing trait points into Air. The precision and crit damage is wasted as it is not used in the build and the Glyph of Storms has a really long cooldown even with the trait (48 seconds), I don't even think it's very good. I personally use Elementals as a panic emergency button, so no need for shorter cooldown either. In result, I'm considering switching the 10 points from Air to Fire and choosing the trait that gives you fire shield when using Signet of Fire.
In general, I'm liking it so far, my only fear is that it may not work so well later on. If you read all this nonsense, I love you.
Why would you need signet of fire for burn? There's tons of other attacks that give burn as an elementalist.
Using something other than staff would let you take 10 points out of arcane, maybe put them in fire or air. There's a trait that makes crits cause burning, which might make precision viable (similar to a conditionmancer or sword warrior). This might go in tandem with the early arcane trait that gives vigor on crits every 5 seconds, although this may not be quite as useful for PvE.
Eruption is a bitch to use because it takes so damn long to actually hit, so it's easy to miss against an enemy that isn't slowed down (and some enemies have stability, or evades, etc.). You might try scepter for bleeds, the autoattack applies 3 stacks (also counts as a finisher) but they last less time than other bleed abilities. Plus, that makes your fire autoattack apply burning. For offhand you'd probably want a focus for flamewall and fire shield. Then again, dagger offhand has more bleeds, plus ring of fire for burning (although I personally have found ring of fire to be unreliable at best, but it's helpful as a combo field).
Dagger mainhand is also a possibility. In fact, dual dagger would work well for a 10/30/30/0/0 build because of the grounded trait at the end of air traits that increases damage against stunned/knocked down enemies. This would give you crit (to proc burning and occasionally give great spikes of damage with fire grab and churning earth), control abilities (partially makes up for your lack of effective support abilities), and plenty of bleed damage. You would mainly stay in earth for this (sometimes popping into fire to apply more burning with lesser crit or maybe fire grab, air to apply the stun if needed against melee, and of course water to heal if needed), so the arcane traits removed from this build are less useful anyway. Grabbing the trait to reduce earth cooldowns would be a must in order to cast churning earth (essentially the replacement for eruption) more often to apply large area bleed damage.
Gear would be power/precision/cond damage for the most part. If defense is an issue (which it probably is given the short range of dagger), you could use the obsidian focus trait to make up for your lack of mobility while casting churning earth.
I have no idea what utilities and elite you would use with this.
Then again all of this could be completely wrong because I've yet to get an elementalist to 80.

I can't get the red to go away. It's not just visible to me, a friend also commented on it. Happens with all colors, Hall of Monuments Heavy Armor.

Heavy Charrmor.
You have the skinniest charr ever.
You have the skinniest charr ever.
I don't like how huge heavy armor always is, so I made her thin to try to compensate.
I don't think I've ever seen that armor before?
fire signet also grants higher crit chance so it's good to have if you're working out crit. if you're looking for lots of bleed and are just PvE'ing, scepter/dagger is great, both for its fire rotation (tooth>phoenix>dowhatever) and for its earth abilities. the arcane dodge ability that causes splash damage on dodges is also nice, though the earth splash only adds one stack of bleed if I remember right

Signet of Fire applies a very mean , long lasting burn which you can keep up 100% of time while not stopping to apply bleeds, that's why. I actually tried going daggers before this and while Churning Earth is neat, you can never stack as much bleeds as with the staff. It's good and gives you more crowd control, but doesn't kill stuff as fast. Eruption is indeed a bitch to use at first, but mobs are predictable most of time so you can get used to it, not to mention that with Blasting Staff trait, its aoe is huge = easy to hit with. It also has less than 5 seconds of cooldown and applies 6 long lasting stacks of bleed, meaning you can easily pop 3 of those and up to 5 enemies who were chasing you now have 18 stacks of bleed, not to count the actual damage from Eruption which is not too bad. Also, your auto attack will apply weakness, so it helps people live longer during group events or dungeons. This build is kinda weird to use, so I understand why it may not appeal to you, it's a bit like Bomb Engineer with no support but much bigger range and condition damage. I have to get used to it yet as well. Thanks for the reply.
Okay so ino this is going to sound crazy, but I made a support ticket to anet after not receiving my hairkit I bought off the trading post. They sent me a karka crate as a sorry and inside I got this.

I'm in total shock, but I can't sell it cause I don't have the funds (18g listing).
So I'm asking you dear Facepunch, if someone on Jade Quarry (Can you even send mail crossrealm?) would lend me the gold needed, I shall pay you back 30g. Anyone :v:?
That's awesome, I would do it if I had it but I spent most of my money using waypoints n shit. Hopefully someone will lend you some.
Can I have it instead?

That's probably the coolest looking rifle for warriors in the game. Rather jealous of your luck, but I'm happy on your behalves.

It looks less flimsy.
Hi from newly made commander <3

Also I changed my hair using the kit that ended up giving me the weapon :P
I finally hit 80. This is a bit of an accomplishment for me since I have never hit max level in an MMO before. Mostly because I get bored of the game before I reach it.
Then I and a bunch of other people started rolling over other people on WvW. It was great.
Played WvW with some guildes earlier when we killed an enemy commander I got an exotic drop, Eir's Longbow to be exact, think I need to start playing lotto.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
When will I get my tengu? :(
Eventually there'll be permanent tengu morphing potions
in the gem shop
they will be pricey
So wait, first they say one is in the works/is being planned still (not too long time ago) and now they claim there isn't?
yeah ok

I will bid 50 copper.
headline there is sensationalist, even if colin basically implies it. I can't take anything IGN says with any salt nowadays, they've done nothing but make me cringe with each interview and review they give.
We know that ANet has a short-term team dedicated to smaller content (patches and improvements) and a long term team that works on larger content such as new areas and world events. Right now the teams have been working pretty much hand-in-hand with each other trying to iron out kinks and improve the way the game works as a whole, though the long-term team has obviously been cranking out huge content for monthly events. If they brought out lost shores as fast as they did, I'm willing to bet we'll have some nice stuff hitting soon when the living story stuff kicks off.
Seems they've been stalling content for the past few months with these basic refugee event cop-outs, so I'm gonna remain optimistic and throw out a guess that there's a potential new map and new standard dungeon (involving the dredge/fire legion) in store for us in the near future.

I was just thinking this;
Anytime I watch something from IGN it just feels like a colossal waste of time.
Why the hell would you even ask about guild wars 3? the game has been out for like a year.
Is it beneficial for IGN's income if every franchise has a yearly rehash like call of duty?

I never got past level 30 in any MMO before GW2, they all seemed boring to me. But now, I have one character at max level and two nearing their 60s. My highest world completion is only 36% as well, there's so much more to do... I'm glad I bought this game, even though I had my doubts at first.
The fact that invaders are dredge and fire legion really disappointed me. It just felt so cheap and unoriginal. Not to mention dredge are awfully boring enemies.
