I had to sell a lot of shit to get those pants, but it was worth it
oh, and the dyes I used are Brass for metal and Tarnished Silver for detail, wasn't really expecting it to work

I think I mentioned before but the asucultural T1 head/legs are great and it's likely that I'll be transmuting them to the top. T3 chest looks great with them, but I may go draconic with it til I build funds for the set
as a side-note, the chainmail helmet on an asura is a great way to fake a new hairstyle, heh (this one I think? [&AgGtDAAA] can't check right now)

I got tired of the constant [I]grind for luck[/I] to get anything I wanted. I wanted a new weapon? Oh I had to grind this dungeon for my chance at getting it. It requires little to no skill whatsoever, but rather just luck. I have to roll the dice for a chance to get that weapon.

I think I mentioned before but back when I played WoW, we did the huge endgame raid dungeon of the burning cruscade, and after the final boss a very special bow dropped. It was one of the rarest items in the game at the time, with some ridiculous 0.002% reported drop rate, crazy awesome stats that would have kept me above the crowd til god knows when, and the best part was that of the 40 people there, [i]I was the only hunter, and I was a marks hunter that made full use of that kind of power[/i]. People were congratulating me already in chat when the item popped up on the screen, and... I didn't get it. It was awarded to the raid leader's friend, who was a warrior I believe. Mighta been a rogue now that I think about it, but the point still stands, thank fuck we're not left to other players' whims. I still wish we had a proper trade function, forcing us to use the trading post is bollocks for mutual trade-offs of items instead of just money

How does this compare to WoW? I mean I don't want anybody bashing it because I still think it's a great game but there is just to many expansions and I've had some great times on WoW with friends but now its just time for a new MMO

I think I talked about this in Guild Chat last night.
The two games aren't really comparable. WoW is your mainstream MMO while GW2 is somewhat like that but has more action elements , you can move around and even dodge attacks instead of standing in one place, and even some platforming, like jump puzzles. Content wise GW2 has a lot less but it's still a somewhat new game but we are getting free content updates, the quality of those updates depends on who you ask but in the end they should lead to a pretty result.
The whole "no grind" thing isn't 100% true since is there, but is easily avoidable/reduced depending on how you want to play. The grind you'll be most likely to run into is when you hit level 80 and want to collect tokens for the Exotic dungeon gear or Fractals gear, but you don't have to. You can craft high level gear, do world bosses and hope you get lucky, or collect laurels for gear boxes. I personally have had to grind a level or two but it was more my fault for not planning things right when questing/leveling in some zones.
I don't PvP/WvW much so I can't really comment on that aspect of the game but what I have done in both of those modes have been pretty fun.
I still play WoW but once my last bit of my game time runs out I won't be resubbing and I have been playing since launch with only an eight month break after WotLK. After playing GW2 for a while WoW feels boring and lacks somethings I that I really liked in GW2, mostly dodging. Instead of spending those $15 a month for WoW I'm happier spending it on gems for dyes, cosmetics, and even gold.. Or I could not spend it all because the game has no monthly fees.
Now if you excuse me I gotta go do my daily to get another laurel.

the biggest difference for me when comparing pve gw2 to typical action bar mmos is that it's actually way more involved
as in, you have to work to kill every single enemy you fight, and many enemies are perfectly capable of killing you if you aren't playing full-on
as opposed to wow where you basically smack down mobs in 4-5 hits who have no chance of killing you unless you afk for an hour
that's why gw2 rarely feels like a grind for me, I log on a few hours every week to play and regardless of whether I'm doing leveling, dungeons or pve, it never feels passive

The awesome thing about GW2 is that it's not completely dependent on your gear, it actually depends on the player to react and fight.
so i did ma fractals for first time
it was pretty intense with a FP brother, we keept dying in the swamp fucking part over and over
when we finally finish it all and we kill jade maw
all i got was fucking some sort of light shoes of apocalypse

aside from breaking it I've found that it's pretty good at bringing out details in texture, I think it's sharpening up the normal mapping. The original stuff has soft edges, even on hard metals

The swampland fractal is the dumbest shit ever. God damn, nothing is more annoying than having 2 people put the wisps back and just as you're about to get there "LOL A FUCKING TREE SPAWNS AND BLOCKS YOUR PATH"
And it seems it's completely random too.
We were having fun until that stupid fractal.
playing a bit more with sharpening
strength=2 (jesus balls)
sharpclamp=1 (extra balls)
pattern=2 (seems to reduce sharpening artifacts on skin a bit)

I like the fractal in itself, it's an interesting little coop puzzle
but the annoyance comes from the fact that although it's pretty simple, it seems to require skills that the majority of players don't have, probably because they're coming from an mmo background

It took my group quite a while when I did it, but luckily we could all find a way to jump past any obstacle.
The trick is being able to jump over those walls. Gotta practice it a bit, there's some roots you can aim gor
I don't think I'm ever going to do Fractals again until they change some things with it. Such a waste of time.
On second note, when I return, does anyone wanna level with my ~25 ele?

I was lucky on one of the first times doing the swamp fractal. Someone showed us the trick to root jumping. It's hard to describe without being in the fractal, but there's usually a slightly less angled root that you can jump on through a gap.
It also helps that my main is a mesmer, so I can just plop down a portal in the middle to help out as well.

I just don't understand how people can obtain so much currency so easily. People are making their third and fourth legendaries with no sweat and are "excited" to make their next one? While I'm sitting here and can't even get the [URL="http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractal_Greatsword"]Fractal Greatsword[/URL] because "[I]I'm not lucky enough[/I]", even though I'm on Fractal 30 and used to run it every fucking day for hours on hand. I don't understand how that's possible unless you enjoy farming currency or there's a simple and unrelenting technique to do so. Every fucking game I play I am alongside the middle-class folks and always dreaming of getting the amazing gear that everyone else has. Like in WoW I used to preview the [URL="http://www.wowhead.com/item=31318/singing-crystal-axe"]Singing Crystalized Axe[/URL] and the [URL="http://www.wowhead.com/item=28772"]Sunfury Bow of the Pheonix[/URL] on my character everyday. It was a dream I could never achieve unless I spend thousands of hours farming, exploiting the system or purchasing gold.
