Also, anyone know of a good build for a hammer guardian?
I'd love to join you but I'm really tired of the current drop system, especially in Fractals... I don't know I might just have to 'deal with it'. Also I'll probably jump in next week, or maybe this weekend if i get bored. It would be fun to get back into playing with you guys. I want to screw around like we used to and forget about being serious.
I just don't understand how people can obtain so much currency so easily. People are making their third and fourth legendaries with no sweat and are "excited" to make their next one? While I'm sitting here and can't even get the Fractal Greatsword because "I'm not lucky enough", even though I'm on Fractal 30 and used to run it every fucking day for hours on hand. I don't understand how that's possible unless you enjoy farming currency or there's a simple and unrelenting technique to do so. Every fucking game I play I am alongside the middle-class folks and always dreaming of getting the amazing gear that everyone else has. Like in WoW I used to preview the Singing Crystalized Axe and the Sunfury Bow of the Pheonix on my character everyday. It was a dream I could never achieve unless I spend thousands of hours farming, exploiting the system or purchasing gold.

I won't disagree that it can get frustrating. The only Exotic that has ever dropped for me was a fucking Rune of Smothering. I bought an Exotic from someone for 1gp just because I liked the way it looked, and I have also made some Exotic items, but actually finding one that is worth something? Closest thing to that is that I randomly bought 10 dyes for Laurel and got a Celestial. I run dragons every day and I run dungeons fairly constantly but have yet to get much of anything. The worst part is that if I were to get any rare Exotics, I'd probably just sell them to get what I want, given that the listing fee isn't fuck huge.
Of course, this issue is inherent in just about every MMO. I'll go on the AH in Tera and look at armor and think it looks cool and then see a price tag of nearly 10k. It's annoying, but I guess I'm used to it.
seeing all the old screenshots (and going through my own) makes me realize how freaky beta aureli looked
thank god for remaking, not to mention makeover kits
only problem is the cool deep gold eyes I picked this last time still look weird with low shaders/textures, which I didn't notice til I got on my laptop
Most textures and colours look weird on low resolution, which is why I dye my armor black and white because it fucks up the least.
You're right with all games having this concept, but Guild Wars 2 was supposed to shy away from the typical loot system and grind. I would prefer really hard difficulty to be rewarded with specific awesome loot (that I can use) over a random chance of getting something random that I may not be able to use.
I mostly give up on the awesome loot I want because I can't invest more than 1 or 2 hours per week on a game.

lots of intent for things to work in specific ways, the random loot as opposed to loot tailored to your needs is, aside from just making sense as a "what did I find in the pockets of this random mob" kind of thing, ensures people pump items into the TP and bolster an economy.
however players don't want to do that a lot of the time so there's a give-and-take in reaching a 'fair' balance, which obviously could use some tuning through the future
The drop system in this game is honestly very bad currently.
It's much better in WoW where the loot isn't all randomized and generic(berserker's axe of force,as opposed to something like a Hellforged Crescent with a unique skin for example, because not only is it fulfilling when you loot things and they're actually useful because they're unique, but they don't randomly drop from mobs with randomly chosen stats, instead having specific stats per unique item and there is a confirmed big dungeon boss or something that drops it at a low but feasible chance(I'm not just talking about the super rare epic items in other MMOs or anything, just items in general),so you can actually potentially WORK TOWARDS getting the item of your dreams by killing the boss multiple times,as opposed to grinding money and BUYING said item from the TP where some guy has already looted it and put it up to sell, which is massively less fulfilling of a way to obtain your awesome gear.
They should really put lots more "unique" style weapons and armor with their own slightly different models, not necessarily all exotics either.
Also how the shit do people make enough money to actually get the gear they want and goddamn legendaries, seriously lodestones and stuff have like a 0.000000001% chance of dropping from their own specific respective mob type only at level 80 in dungeons and there are barely any of those mobs in the first place and mobs sure as hell don't drop any sensible amount of money.
ANet really need to overhaul the loot and rewards systems somehow,a simple loot tables change to make mobs drop large amounts of money(atleast not an insulting 33 copper, maybe 5 silver or higher per low-chance-drop would be great) as opposed to blues and the occasional green up the ass(and now a useless rare that you'd only salvage for ectos to make money agh).
damn this page of the thread will be rant central soon
Might as well help with Temple of Grenth event...

Dude you said it all...I feel you!
I once said to myself I was going to farm Charged Lodestones. After an hour killing Whisps I gave up. Goodbye Foefire's Essence!
[editline]13th March 2013[/editline]
I don't really see how they can make the loot system any better. Honestly without those rare items there wouldn't be much of an economy and nothing would be of value. I mean anything you would want, be-it stats or looks, it wouldn't be beneficial to farm for it. Instead it would be easier to purchase it from other players. Everyone would have the same weapons (like dungeon sets). Which I actually kind of like that when you see someone in a specific dungeon armor you know exactly how they got it and what they've been through to get it. Although it requires little to no skill at all to obtain them, just time time and more time.
I'd like to see some Hero Mode shit like in GW1 where you would only be able to get sweet shit from doing Hard Mode dungeons. Although don't have it so only specific setups can do them (like in GW1 you had to has specific builds that were really expensive to obtain to even get through the first 10 minutes of the dungeon). That proves that you have the skills to obtain the item and it's something you've earned. Instead now you get items it doesn't feel that special because you were just lucky enough to get the money, drops, or chance.
That's a lot of gold.
Yeah..HOW do they do this? Obtain just under 2,000 GOLD. That's 200,000 Silver or 20,000,000 Copper! And all that with extra to spare to make three Legendaries? Not breaking a sweat and no stress. Playing the same amount of time a week I do (or players like me). While when I try to just farm for a Fractal Greatsword it's the hugest pain in the ass and I want to burn my soul every second I'm doing it? Even thinking about getting a Legendary hurts my brain. In all honesty most of the people who have more than two legendaries do so primarily with money by purchasing the ingredients from other players.
[editline]13th March 2013[/editline]
And to relieve the pain, how about some HIGH RESOLUTION FP AWESOMENESS?
Luck Wars 2
Pretty much sums the whole end-game up.
Sums up any mmo really. Most MMOs are WORSE than GW2 because after you even get your gear you have to go through even more RNG to enchant it.
It would be similar if GW2 would have a % chance of success/failure on attaching sigils or runes to your gear and that % chance of failure would cause the gear to break. There's nothing more annoying in an MMO where trying to "+" your gear results in it either breaking or downgrading back to step 1.

Holy shit I always wondered why that was. Surprised it took them this long! Another reason to come back to GW2 (to play WvW)!

I had a fun experience with that last week. I was running toward Splendan(?) clearcut when someone in team chat said "large group heading towards Anz." I'm like "where?" Then they materialized right in front of me when they were about 20 feet away. I'm guessing they didn't spot me until then as well, since I was able to escape.
we need to venture back out into wvw, I still have yet to try being a massive trebushield with elefocus
also I'm planning on going into pvp with an all-guard group, 100% control/knockback based weapons/skills just to be butts
if you see me online tonight feel free to invite me to a group. I've got metrica, brisban and queensdale 100%'d but I'm fine with anything else
also you should go on a frac run with me and some of the ultimas people, we got this

just for anyone wondering how much it takes to complete the emperor title (owning all cultural sets)
Actually it's only around 600g, you don't need to buy all three armor types.
That's still a lot of gold.
Actually it's only around 600g, you don't need to buy all three armor types.
ohhhh
this explains why my thing only counts 6 right now. I bought a light asuran T1 glove for aureli (seen in that picture I mentioned a few times last page), then later bought the full set of heavy asura T1. I saw the counter hit 6 but not 7, and thought maybe because I'd transmuted the glove previously that it wasn't counted anymore. Was afraid it'd call for tons of wasted bankspace or something
also for the GW1 players, I found Bob Koss

I met him on fractals.

I misss you guysss.
(so I'm patching and coming back) My guardian hasn't hit 80 yet, but it is close, and my warrior is still sitting in WvW with his rifle.
woo!

I get this so much in PvE, is there a way to fix that other than upgrading my PC?
