You guys are forgetting to mention part of the new ending. After you defeat GLaDOS she says you are a mathematical error and that she is going to correct you. Well, originally her voice slows down and becomes low pitched and that's her final line, now, her voice speeds up and becomes high pitched. She also has a couple more lines following that. I can't remember them off the top of my head but they weren't there originally.

Seems like the progress bar is more of a foreshadowing tool then anything. As soon as we saw that it had changed to "vital asset retrieval initiated", portal gets updated with Chell being dragged back to Aperture Science (presumably). Whatever the next 'status' may be, I'm willing to bet it will be updated in some way in portal... Theories ftw
