WoW and it's 11 million players disagree.
there's always exceptions and in wow's case it's a bunch of neckbeards playing the same damn thing over and over again. that doesn't mean it's a good game. it doesn't make borderlands any less repetitive. borderlands is good for the first playthrough when you want to finish the story, but after that there really is no reason to keep playing other than to unlock a slightly different gun every now and again. at least in wow you can sell the weapons you get and buy something else, in borderlands the most you can do is trade your guns and be done with it.
All Borderlands is is getting guns to kill [del]Jason Vorhees[/del] guys to get slightly better guns to kill [del]Jason Vorhees again[/del] more guys to get better guns to kill [del]Jason Vorhees[/del]...
So, what does Yahtzee's left testicle taste like?
borderlands is average in every respect and i have no clue why you are so obsessed with it. until lategame just about every gun is the same with minor differences. "oh but nathaz u have to play it to lategame to really appreciate this fine work of art!!!" well no that is such an incredibly stupid statement that you really should just die. if a game isn't fun from the beginning then it is shit, since a game is meant to be fun and engaging. you don't see people going on about "u need to play to late game in haf life 2 to really love it!!!" its a good game from the beginning which draws you in and makes you play more have fun killing the same monster over and over again to get an orange gun which does 20 more damage and shoots 5% faster and then circlejerk in your group of "DIE HARD BORDERLANDS PWNERS... BORDERLANDS FTW!!!!!"
You're comparing an action game with an RPG. I don't need to say anything else because that just proves that you didn't think when you posted
Try 6 million different combinations [editline]08:12AM[/editline] Is Torchlight, Diablo, and Titan Quest the only thing you compare this with?
They are the only other co-op lootfest games I can think of.
You're comparing an action game with an RPG. I really wish they didn't make The secret armory so fucking ridiculously difficult. I can take a challenge, I can take enemies that a pretty damn hard to kill, but unless you are fucking level 500000 it is simply impossible to kill anything. I managed to get a total of THREE missions done. I killed the drones by hiding in a building and popping out. I killed the lance squad by running them over. The thing is, when you die, the enemy does NOT 'forget' you. In fact, I've seen fucking drones hover over the new-U station I spawn at before I even spawn. FUCKING ASS FAGGOT BULLSHIT FUCK DAMN.
I find it hard to believe that there are still people that care about Borderlands to begin with.
I find it hard to believe that there are still people that care about Borderlands to begin with.
Well, I have to do SOMETHING before BFBC2 comes out.
The RPG system in Borderlands is pathetic, just like everything else in the game.
I disagree
I rather enjoyed Borderlands. In fact I recently started playing it again. Might get the new DLC as well.
if a game isn't fun from the beginning then it is shit
So FF7 was shit. Slow and boring beginning. Bioshock was shit. Many great games were shitty after all. I love borderlands. May it be the art style, the game mechanics, everything, I got it a week after it got out, i'm still playing it with my friends. And don't tell me my friends are shit, ok?

Bioshock had a "what the FUCK is going ON here I need to figure out what the fuck is happening" feel about it. Borderlands, however, is just "Welcome to fyrestone, now go to the next town to help some lady with her rock because another lady that appears as a hallucination tells you to"

Maybe it's my super-awesomely powerful corrosive machine gun but I took down General Knoxx very quickly.
Why all the hate for Borderlands? It's pretty obvious what the game is about--GUNS. Shoot people with guns to get money to buy better guns, or to get boxes full of guns, or to open up new areas with more guns. It manages to merge a simple RPG-style leveling system with fun, arcadey shooting. The great style/writing is just a perk. QUOTE] shoot people with guns to get money to buy better guns: yeah, exactly, incredibly boring and repetitive gameplay. great style/writing:no.Just, no. great style? i can't look at this game for more then half an hour because the stupid cel-shading art style hurts my eyes. really, i am not kidding, it hurts to look at this game. and writing? again, no. horrible cliche storyline with a lackluster end. simple RPG-style leveling system? ok, this is one good thing about the game. but god, the rest is awful. fun arcadey shooting? more like boring, frustrating shooting. all you do is run around, dieing by the second because all the monsters are horribly overpowered, and your guns are all horribly underpowered. It's pretty obvious what the game is about--GUNS.| yeah, it is about guns, isn't it? shame they all look the same,(ugly) have the same textures (again, ugly) make the same noises,(horrible and cheesy) and are really, REALLY, underpowered. if you want a gun that can kill something instead a little peashooter, you HAVE to mod your guns. and so, i evaluate that borderlands is a peice of crap, and that the devs should have 1: not had that godawful art style. 2: made more parts for the guns, and made it so that you could change out parts with different ones. and 3: MADE A BETTER STORYLINE. if all these guys can come up with is some cliche crap, then don't make the game. INCOMING BOX ATTACK
Ah Borderlands, do much hype so little gameplay variation.
I loved the game for the first month, now I have a hard time to play it without getting bored. Perhaps because I have no friends who play it.
I played Borderlands for about one hour. I have never played it again to this day, and I regret buying it for 50 dollars so fucking much. What a god damn gimmick.
Borderlands would be a must have if it were ~20 dollars. At 50, though, it's the worst purchase I've made in recent memory.
Wow, I think half of facepunch is incapable of saying the words "I do not like this game." Nope, gotta be "THIS GAME IS THE WORST GAME EVER YOU SHOULD KILL YOURSELF JUST FOR SAYING THE WORD BORDERLANDS HNNNGH"
I really liked Borderlands. I didn't get much further past my 2nd playthrough which is a shame but I got quite a lot of enjoyment out of it.
I really liked Borderlands. I didn't get much further past my 2nd playthrough which is a shame but I got quite a lot of enjoyment out of it.
I stopped for a while when I was about halfway through playthrough 2, but the new DLC is pretty awesome.
There is not 40 billion. All guns look the same, sound the same and use the same animation anyway Borderlands is a game sold on a shitty gimmick that is done poorly and shows quantity over quality in the highest form. Why brag about your uber gun system, if I can't even make my own fucking personalized gun
Borderlands stole his first born and ate it in front of him. And not every game has to have CoD MW features...
Borderlands is an FPS with RPG elements, not the other way around. Yeah the guns vary only in the small details but that's how every random weapon generation system works. For example take every Diablo-like game: you get thousands of weapons that are just slight variations of each other with a few unique cool weapons thrown into the mix. I like Borderlands because it's a solid FPS. It's fun to play in short bursts because the firefights are exciting. Stop bitching about how the RPG mechanics aren't very good. Complaining about Borderland's RPG aspects is like complaining about Oblivion's combat mechanics.
it still sucks
I really enjoyed playing Borderlands. Only did the one playthrough plus a bit of co-op. Loved the art style. Liked the rpg-ish levelling and skills. The loot and many guns were fun to snatch.
I haven't played Borderlands in months. Should I be ashamed?
Stop playing the singlelplayer. The game is much better when you're cooping with friends.
Stop playing the singlelplayer.
