I could never put my finger on why, but for some reason Fallout 3 has always been my favorite Fallout game.
I could never put my finger on why, but for some reason Fallout 3 has always been my favorite Fallout game.
Do you: A) frequently gaze at the landscape? B) enjoy the soundtrack/radio stations? C) Feel as though Dogmeat is the greatest thing since sliced bread? or D) Other.
I loved Dead Money because it helped me experience how all those victims in the SAW movies felt. Though the Cloud wasn't really a problem. It was mostly the collars and the lack of weapons until you get to the point where the game starts throwing Microfusion Cells at you because if you get the correct perks your Holorifle can become the most powerful weapon in the game. It was enough for me to take out the Legendary Deathclaw in one shot.
What really pissed me off about Dead money was this phrase that was repeating continuously: "Air tastes like copper..... or old world gold"
Dead Money might have been my favorite DLC if, like everything else to do with Fallout, it wasn't on fucking Bethybro. i know i harp on about it quite a bit, but survival horror just does not work on this shitty fucking engine because everything about it feels awful and kills any scary mood you might have been setting up. i don't think i need to say what's so bad about it, but seriously, there was no other reason Dead Money couldn't have been challengingly enjoyable in a manner similar to STALKER or Metro 2033. but honestly, the real tragedy with it is that it totally should have worked, and might have even overshadowed Old World Blues and Lonesome Road - when the writing's this great, the setting's this foreboding, and the setup is so perfect, nothing could have gone wrong. but because it was done on such a complete and utter shitheap of an engine, it's turned into an unbalanced, floaty mess that only serves as an exercise in frustration, with only the brilliant writing to hold you off from tearing it a new bumhole with your enraged, nerdy teeth.
Also, it was hard as shit to navigate the villas.
True, DM was frustrating. But not only because of the engine but also because of sloppy level design. Some parts were just trial and error. You couldn't progress at some points unless you would run past a radio. Sometimes it worked and the bleeping would stop. Other times the radio would be followed by another radio resulting in your death. And I hate the fact that I can't go back to the casino after completion.
I like Broken Steel just for Liberty Prime Glorious motherfucker
So, I bought Fallout 3 for the 360 because it was 7$ and the game looked interesting. And holy crap, this game is awesome. I started playing three days ago and I've already played a bit over 20 hours. I just love how everything feels alive and real. Like, one day in the game I saw a Protectron walking around, then some days later I saw it again in a nearby place killing radroaches and what not. The game remembers everything.

For me, the only thing that ruined Dead Money were the collars. The Cloud wasn't as bad, but it was still annoying. Having no weapons at the start forced you to be productive, which helped if your character had high intelligence, and could easily craft stuff. The followers were cool, I just wish Dean wasn't so easy to piss off. The only thing that constantly annoyed me were the radios, too many interesting areas were timed to get through. I could maybe understand if you could re-visit the Sierra Madre, and explore them as long as you wanted, but not if you're timed one way or another. And, if you don't fully explore everything, and get every hidden item, and all of Dean's stashes, they're effectively gone forever.
couldve been 2 seperate random encounters
I suppose.
[t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/902116412970369813/7FCCD339B2A9A9E1E3E362C3FB8C5584A8A2667B/[/t] so this little bear was terrified by me after i shot one 12g slug on its torso really, the combat music went away and it started to flee when i got close so i left it be, and a minute or so later a bigger yao guai comes around and tries to eat me next time im not leaving witnesses
I love the Animal Friend perk. I think I've only ever killed one or two Yao Guai.
couldve been 2 seperate random encounters though STALKER has exactly this one more reason why i want a stalker mod
i think a Fallout mod for STALKER would work better than the other way round - the best part about Fallout is its utterly fantastic setting and characters, so if those could be transplanted into STALKER it would make for an amazing mod. also all the models from STALKER have weirdass proportions and look kinda strange in Gamebryo, so it would probably look far better if you ported Fallout models to STALKER instead.

The Gamebryo engine is a thousand times easier to work with than the Xray engine.
God no. The Gamebryo engine is a thousand times easier to work with than the Xray engine.
but it's so bad
-Snip, I missed a page am now off topic- I like the rock it launcher.
God no. The Gamebryo engine is a thousand times easier to work with than the Xray engine.
Sure, it's easier... but Xray is so much better.
Sure, it's easier... but Xray is so much better.
STALKER crashes on launch on my machine :v:
So, I bought Fallout 3 for the 360 because it was 7$ and the game looked interesting.
It's even better on PC with mods. Glad you're enjoying it just the same. You got New Vegas?
Nope, this is the only Fallout I've ever played. I'm actually playing it right now, and I think I just found a game-crashing bug in tranquility lane. Edit: Nevermind. What happened was, I went to a basement and took a frying pan. I was like "what" because you can't take anything else. I then pressed B and the game froze. I tried it again but now it no longer crashes. Interesting.
What's a better perk to get? Meltdown or Plasma Spaz?
Haha, I got outside tranquility lane by jumping over the fence
What's a better perk to get? Meltdown or Plasma Spaz?
both for maximum plasma
Nope, this is the only Fallout I've ever played.
Ahh. Well NV is quite good, if you've got the PC to handle it pick up the ultimate edition on Steam sometime. Comes on sale for pretty cheap fairly often, too.
I'm actually playing it right now, and I think I just found a game-crashing bug in tranquility lane. Edit: Nevermind. It's the main flaw with Fallout and TES 3D games, they all use the same engine and tend to crash for no reason once in a while. Save often!
Well it's the only crash I've had in my 21 hours playing the game
So I've made it my characters duty to go through The Divide detonating any of the left over warheads before doing Hoover Dam. And I now realise how The Divide actually has a great atmosphere. It has the sort of look that I really want in the next Fallout, lots of ruined skyscrapers in the distance, huge roads falling apart, a true look of post apocalyptic destruction.
i feel like they should've done more with Lonesome Road its not very lonesome with ED-E following you
It's not much of a road, either.
It's not much of a road, either.
And the god damn satchel charges
