but you're wanting to remove the wasteland, in a game that's essentially all about the wasteland
Did you play Point Lookout or Honest Hearts? Read the post again. It's not about removing the wasteland, it's adding more variety of wastelands and non-wastelands.
There is one thing that annoyed me about FNV Mojave :

Half of the map is unreachable. Come on. I want to go to the mountains around Jacobstown and into that huge desert in the west !
The entire surface of DC can be explored in FO3 so why not here ?
Obsidian wanted to make other half of the map beyond the river, deep in the legion territory, but was pressured by Bethesda's release date and shifted the map to the right to center what's left. What a shame.

well, i don't know how you plan on doing that
you said you want there to be large locations each the size of a dlc world, interconnected by fast travel points
sounds to me like you're trying to cut out the in-between

I'll cut it short because obviously my opinion is not popular here and I don't want to get all defensive
Not every location has to be populated or urbanized. You can have heavily populated locations like Sierra Madre or wastelands to explore like like Point Lookout/Zion park. Again, the main goal is to fit as much different types of locations (mojave, grand canyon, coast, mountains, etc) into one game. Instead of one huge map and 4 smaller DLC maps, have 24 DLC sized maps for every taste, including yours.
I thought he wanted to nuke both sides. its been so long since I played that dlc.
He does, he wants to wipe out everyone who's imitating the Old World. He just hates the NCR more because they're closer to pre-war America, and he was a Frumentarius.

It seems like Bethesda didn't actually expect NV to do that well, with all the time constrictions they put on them. Wish they'd given Obsidian more time and assets, it could've been fucking incredible.

I see what you mean, like in Fallout 1 and 2 where the map was made up of a bunch of huge squares with set locations. Going outside of a zone would be a short loading screen and then you're in the next zone.
So just like FO1/2 in 3d?
In New Vegas, how did I get rid of the transparency around the hair and ears of NPCs?
So I'm tempted to do a new playthrough as Max Payne. At the moment I'm trying to come up with some good rules to follow.
1. Luck stat has to be at one. No exceptions.
2. Only pistols, small machine guns, and shotguns allowed.
3. Project Nevada has to be installed and bullet time must be enabled.
4. Can only use chems and alcohol. Anything resembling painkillers must be taken at the earliest convenience. Addictions cannot be cured (Unless character's head is shaved bald and wears an unfitting shirt)
5. Gangmembers and thugs must be taken out through vigilante justice.
The ultimate goal is to find and kill the corrupt leaders in the Mojave. Recklessness and self destructiveness is key.

Yay ENB. Anyone know how to make the AA work? These jagged edges are killing me.
it's been ages since i've seen a fallout 3 screenshot in this thread

It's because most of the people here are people who rightfully view New Vegas as the better game. What I never see are Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 screenies. :downs:

I feel like its more because NV is more 'recent'. Chances are if there was a Fallout 4, more people would be posting screenshots from it rather than NV or any other Fallout game :v:

Do what I did with my max payne 1 playthrough: only pipes and baseball bats

I could fire up New Vegas and take a screenie. I'm currently halfway between DC and Temple of the Union :v:

Throwing in my two cents about this;
The first time I played Fallout 3 I did 1-2 quests around Megaton and then finished all the story quests and accidentally hit the end of the game without knowing it. I didn't bump into any quests and assumed that was the whole game :v:
I just felt that it was easier to bump into other Quests in New Vegas, since the main quest actually points you to them a lot of the time. Exploring also felt a lot more fun with the factions out and about and what not, revenge plot was more fun than [sp]"dad left, you found him but he left again,[/sp][sp]and now he's ded[/sp].
New Vegas could use a director's cut with all the areas they were forced to rush or cut out of the game.

Basically, but with today's technology (Maybe even something loosely resembling Mount & Blade travel system? Hmm). More interesting encounters and locations for said encounters. For example, while travelling to new vegas you may encounter something like Grub 'n' Gulb rest shop, it will be an 'encounter' type location, small, it will remain on your map. When there, you could see new vegas, far, far in the distance, not 5 minutes of walk away:

Or when leaving Goodsprings, before entering 'world map' you would see this skybox:

It would make the world feel bigger, not smaller. If you wanted the map to look that big and be that big, good luck going 11 kilometers of completely empty road just to reach Jean Airoport

I just really dislike when games are just a really crammed together scale replica.
I just wish half the map wasn't completely unaccessable
"The Legion are actually a goddamn faction" Edition
I think the developers originally intended for us to sympathize with the Legion more and actually understand their worldview instead of us viewing them as insane barbaric thugs lead by a madman. I have my biases but I actually know a few people who agree with the Legion on a philisophical level. Perhaps they could have shown us some Legion stability and good government.

How did you get Darnified UI to work alongside PNV? It kept getting compatibility issues when I tried.

IMO I think that the game would be less immersive(B) and less enjoyable if
A) The maps were made 100% to scale and you had to walk it with nothing inbetween.
B) You had that minimap for random encounters. when fast travelling towards a horizon.
That is not what 3D Fallout is about, its about seeing something in the distance and walking towards it. Sometimes it takes really long, but thats because you need to discover locations as you go along, then you can fast travel to them.

Ulysses will never be a companion. He will never convince you in his deep, throaty voice to join the Legion.

I try to put a few in
But I don't know if Tale of Two Wastelands counts
I still need to continue on with my Ballad of The Mechanist playthrough
