The radiation aspect with the whole fridge scene is plausible, the fridge not being disintegrated in the blast?.... Not so much.
my thoughts exactly.
ok then. someone couldve said that when i first asked. and i noticed your picture is from the stalker movie, i heard that the stalker games were based off of that movie so i watched it and it was the most confusing movie ive ever seen in my whole life, and the movie was made in the 70s, and chernobyl blew up in 1986, so how could the movie and the game be related?
They are both inspired by the novel "Roadside Picnic".
Novel:
In the novel aliens have visited earth and left artefacts of their technology in various areas called "Visitation Zones". The zones are highly dangerous (to human health and life) due to "space-time anomalies" scattering the area. Despite the danger a trade forms around the edges of the zones based upon entering and collecting these artefacts, the people of this trade are known as "Stalkers". The artefact most in value is the "Golden Sphere" which is said to grant the desires of the one who finds it.
Film:
A Stalker (in the film a stalker is simply a "guide") is leading an expedition into "the zone" which is said to contain the power to grant a man's greatest desires.
Game:
Like the novel it too has Artefacts and Anomalies and a risky trade based upon recovering them. It is also rumoured that in the centre of the zone is an artefact which can grant wishes. I imagine the idea of the second Chernobyl NPP explosion was because it is a largely untouched setting in action/horror novels, films and video games allowing them to craft a much more unique and interesting world. It also serves to avoid the horrible cliché alien themes.
[editline]booshla[/editline] Seems I'm considerably late. My bad.

Are there mutants/aliens in any of these? Is the movie well done? Is there any action in it? Is it one of those cheesey, 70's B movies?
Hey, what CoP mods would you guys recommend? The op only has one.
Mine :3
[editline]12:06AM[/editline]
That said it's not out yet and really will only be suitable if you enjoy ultra-realism and really being pushed to the limit to survive in the Zone.

Make an options pack so we can turn on/off settings you've changed. That was one of my main problems with SMRTER, it changed far too much and made the game far more irritating than challenging.

the movie is a bit confusing, very interesting though, its not horrible, theres not much action, no mutants/ aliens in the movie, havent read the book yet, id give it a 3 out of 5 because i think the place they go in the movie look pretty cool, has nothing to do with chernobyl though. i was a little dissapointed because theyre was no action in it and it had almost nothing to do with the game or chernobyl , so if youre expecting something like the game, youll be dissapointed, and if you hate movies without action, then just dont watch it, but there is a fan made stalker film on youtube, but it doesnt really have any action in it either, but its way closer to the game than the 70s stalker movie.
funny, I gave the movie a 9/10.

Well that's easier said than done, but there'll be nothing in there you wouldn't want, really.
AtmosFear integration, over 100 new STALKER skins across all factions, tweaks to gun balance and health values for more realism, currency revaluing, level changers, new, sensible suits, new food/drink/medical supplies, corpse/item dragging, more dialogue (and possibly a new quest or two), and more.

The movie sucked. I expected more but damn it was absolutely horrible.

im gearing up to go to pripyat in stalker soc, what should i bring?

That sounds awesome. But that being said my main turnoff for SMRTER was that you couldn't toggle the options, so if you decide to implement anything really annoying having it be togglable would be amazing. When do you plan on releasing this?
is there a way i can downgrade the graphics in soc? for some reason i have a 1gb of memory on my video card and yet it still lags at some points in the game, like for example, in the garbage when you have to help thos guys at the train track place from the bandits.

What's wrong with you?

Well the basic idea behind it was my own perfect mod, the mod I myself would like to play the game with, and I can't stand the bloated junk that frankly, ruins S.M.R.T.E.R.
That being said, the author himself is basically my mentor, he's helped me out massively.
I won't be changing weapon skins or models, adding 'cool' stuff for the hell of it, or changing anything that doesn't need changing.
I'll still see what I can do about an options pack though.
I'm afraid I don't have a time-frame on release, but I'll get back to you guys about that soon, hopefully.
What's wrong with you?
yeah, i was disappointed cause the movie wasn't really about stalker, but it definitely wasn't a waste of time to watch anyway.

A vague estimate? A month, 2, perhaps more?

any thoughts?
A vague estimate? A month, 2, perhaps more?
I'm aiming for a few weeks, if I'm honest.
It depends really on whether I can find someone to help me with new icons, for food/supplies and such.
If anyone would like to help, feel free to add me on steam of PM or whatever.
But for now... bed!

99 percent of the time, it's your RAM. STALKER eats it up like a motherfucker, and sometimes you're going to get hangs.

yeah i think that might be it, do you think that will effect me in pripyat? because that looks like one of the best parts of that game, nad for some reason i have two sticks of ram in my comp that both are 512 mb and when i check on dxdiag it says i only have 956mb or something near 950mb.
EDIT: says i have 960mb ram
Ah, screw it, L.U.R.K is too dark to play, I'm just gonna reinstall.

You were expecting someone with an Invader Zim avatar to fully comprehend and appreciate a complex piece of cinema history by one of the 20th century's deepest existential directors?

EDIT: oh look at that, i changed my avatar XD
For anyone who's still curious and hasn't seen it yet, the entire Stalker movie is up (With English subtitles) on Google Videos and has been for some time.
If you have two and a half hours to kill, go for it.
