No. It really isn't.
You can rarely play any Cracked Games online anyway.
I've seen Cracked Valve Games played online.
Just because this forum belongs the owner of GMOD does not mean that you have to delude yourself into thinking Valve and Steam are perfect when they clearly aren't.
You can't play cracked Steam games on VAC servers. period.
Everything else is crackable.
Well its russians , i'm not amazed it took them few hours to crack it.
Even though Ubisoft deserves being cracked with shitty DRM which is pretty much anti-buyer anyways.
You can play them on Hacked Servers, or Servers made for the Pirated Version, That's some online functionality.
As you can't play the majority of Pirated Games online whatsoever, It could be argued that Cracked Steam games have higher functionality than the majority of Pirated Games.
Steam's effective, and the discounts they have are the best way of encouraging people to buy genuine games on PC. But it's far from Piracy Proof.
Do you have some kind of source?
If you legally own the game, would it be legal to install the crack?
Nope. Cracks are always illegal.
I crack almost every game I legitimately own, just because it's easier to play the fucking game that way... I don't want to constantly swap Discs wearing out both the life of the disc, the Drive, wait for the read time to verify I have the correct disc in... And for games like AC2 that are going to require a constant internet connection? to hell with that my ISP isn't stable enough, I'll be cracking that too... but I won't buy it until a crack comes out first
I just want to Put it on my HD, double click the Executable, and have it play... is that so fuckin' hard for companies to understand? I don't want to run an obstacle course, I did that to get the money to buy the game
And while I'm on Obstacle courses, time wasting and Forcing stuff in your face... I delete as many Intro Cinematics that I can... you know how EA forces that shit every time you boot a game... well not with me they don't

I believe installing cracks on your legally obtained game is OKAY. Thats like saying modding is illegal.
I can't give a source exactly because that'd be linking to warez forums so you'll need to find it yourself by looking on forums.
I don't forsee any major publications/websites putting this down for a few more hours to a day as the news is pretty fresh and some people say it works and some people say it don't. But there is strong evidence to support that it is infact true such as images of the PC version (inside the settings screen or other similiar PC only features)
Nope. Cracks are always illegal.
Thats like saying MODs are illegal because they modify game files as well. But at the end of the day when it comes to cracks, you BOUGHT the game, noone is going to give a shit and noone will be able to catch you either.
It's still Illegal.
However, even if people were getting sued for pirating, I doubt they'd sue a customer for using a crack when they have proof they own the game.
I personally believe that's theres nothing wrong with using a crack on a game you own.
Opinions =/= Fact, Law or Right and Wrong.
haha hilarious. didnt know that ac2 was out already. DRM -> growing piracy, growing piracy -> more DRM.
Put the Growing Piracy first on that list and follow it by DRM and then you will be correct
It's close to impossible to play a pirated multi player game online (properly) if it has even the lowest level of DRM (Cd Key)
Not really, I used to play halo 1 online all the fkn time.

Same with a lot of old games, I was referring to the modern generation.

I dont know any modern game that only has cd keys.

BF2, BF2142, Borderlands, WARCRAFT 3, AGE OF EMPIREs.
Get the point?
Steam is pretty bad at being DRM.
SP games get cracked in an instant.
MP games usually have cracked servers(depending on your location you might have more cracked servers than legal ones)
But steam itself is such a good platform, it just makes stuff worth buying.

yeah :frown:
Are you sure, from what I can tell, it's just an uncracked Russian version that's been uploaded on various sites.
Even the largest Russian sites don't have a cracked version.

And that is why steam has a much lower pirate rate than other companys do.
All they need to do is incentivize pirates to buy games .
Nobody's really going to pirate a game if it offers free dlc every week for people with an account, and the company that makes it really cares. Look at left 4 dead 2. I've seen that on countless pirating websites, but very few people downloaded it.
Steam's another example. Yeah, I could have pirated S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear sky, but it was on steam for £3 in a weekly offer! Half the stuff on steam I either buy, or wait for them to come up in a sale, whereas previously people would just pirate them straight away
When it comes to DRM, the only people who win are the pirates. I personally, am a pirate, but only if I can't legally obtain or I am hindered by the drm in playing the game. Steam is near perfect, because it's cheap, easy and they belong to me. Hells yeah.

I actually stopped pirating, and gave up my job as a mod on a private tracker because of steam.

The crack hasn't been uploaded yet as far as I know, its in testing stages but then effects of it look to be working.
But that doesn't mean an English version will be out soon because I don't think the English version has leaked. Russian version is just pure Russian (voices and all) and most English scene groups are waiting for the English version.
One thing that does piss me off is Pirates that preach because they're "Fighting the DRM war." You're not helping anyone by fighting DRM. In fact, there would be no DRM if not for you bastards.
As this thread shows, the pirates are always one or more steps ahead. If you take a shit on people who buy the game they won't want to buy it.
Nope. Cracks are always illegal.
No, cracks aren't illegal except if the EULA disallows them. Even then, it's a breach of contract, which is governed by civil law, not criminal law.

I want to settle this argument like my mum settled me fighting with my brother when I was a dumb little preteen;
"God damn it, I don't care who started it, STOP IT."
Steam have already won. Their DRM is pretty much perfect.
probably because Steam acts like a tollbooth, not a fucking 24/7 supervisor.
@09'er
So that means that as soon as you're gone, They'll carry on and ignore everything you said.
@ashxu
Steam is a good platform. A good Marketplace.
It doesn't prevent piracy.
24/7 Supervisor would be something that's there whenever you use it.
That's a perfect description of Steam.
Just for the record. Believe it if you like, but I just talked to an admin in one of the more renowned torrent sites, and he told me that he has the game itself, but it is not cracked yet. In other words, the game is leaked, but not cracked, so as far as I am aware, the OP's info is wrong.
Please don't ban me, I'm just being informative.

If its not already it will be before this week ends.
Duh, really didn't expect that to happen!
Stupid DRM shite.
