I fought my first invader today. He was using some really curmmy-looking fist attack on me, so I Was basically slowly chipping at his health. But at a certain point he pulled out a lighting-enhanced sword and some pyromancy (dunno what it was) then shit got real and I died. I guess that's not bad, but even then they only got a measly amount of souls because I was mostly broke. Here's the culprit in question. I never tried greatswords and I feel like either trying the Dragon Greatsword or the Abyss Greatsword, anyone has experience on any of these?
Made it to Seath the Scaleless and got murdered by his Ice spikes from the ground. Was respawned in the dungeon cells, then went to town on everyone inside the castle. Got another level out of it (SL70 now) and now I'm about to head back in to fight the dragon again. Don't miss, because that'll leave you wide open to attacks.
use the Greatsword do tarkus proud
Two-hand the Greatsword. Breaks all but the most min/maxed build, fast swings to make it viable, blocks 70% damage so can still block, and it does huge damage. Definitely a good option. Btw, anyone attacked the Crestfallen Merchant and found out what weapons he uses? I was thinking either him or Patches but with the crappy Crescent Axe Patches uses it might be better not to. He'd keep with the Berenike style and have a Greatsword and Tower shield, right?
Haha, oh wow. Wrecked that invader. He targeted the host and started casting. Bad thing is, he started his cast just as I started winding up by Black Knight Greatsword. Pow! Up in the air he goes, dead before he hits the ground. [editline]21st March 2013[/editline] I didn't expect to one-hit this guy, but it felt great. [editline]21st March 2013[/editline] Just playing SL31, being summoned to help kill the Belfry Gargoyles. [editline]21st March 2013[/editline] You know those brief hints at other players? The transparent, blue-looking wisps of people? I was summoned and the host ended up fighting one of those, who then said something like 'Despicable, curses!' when he was killed. What was up with that?
That was an NPC. If it happened in the Parish it was probably Lautrec.

If crestfallen merchant is the one in the shortcut to the depths than she drops just souls and some moss iirc, says so on the wiki.

Found a video of his dialogue and it seems he does use the Greatsword and Tower shield. If we've got SL 60 CosPvP then it's a pure Str End build with both FaP and Havels ring, but I think I can manage with that.

The crestfallen merchant is located in Sen's fortress and yes he does use the greatsword and towershield.
So I was hanging out in oolacile, pulling some SL90 solaire sunbro-ing, when I got summoned to the world of some fellow in elite knight armor, brandishing a zweihander. Anyways, he turned out to be pretty lousy at the game, so he kept dying and re-summoning me. Eventually, I gave him what little divine blessings I had, and a sun medal before going on one more run with him. We got all the way to manus, and died there. He contacted me a bit afterwards, saying he'd been pretty down in the dumps, so having someone dressed as solaire being so nice to him really brightened his day. I feel all warm and fuzzy now.

And all the invaders I've had generally duel me, and are pretty honourable. One was wary of fighting me after he opened a door to a bajillion items and 99 prism stones in a hallway. It was blinding
I do hope that dark souls 2 will have some manner of anti cheating built in. I looked in the book of the guilty and looked at one of the people with 60000 sin. [thumb]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/578984310253214806/02C53BF39889A93F31BB7FB712345B4BA5FCECC5/[/thumb]
Does armor really matter in PvP or PvE at all? Or should I max the upgrades on my armor before I expect to see any results? HP seems to be the only defining factor in how long I can survive when it comes to mistakes in combat..

Decided to switch out my Pike +15 to a Cystal Pike +5 to see what the fuss was all about. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/594746908936981417/5479D2966A85B774BDB55FD6DCB354CD839990EE/[/t] Good lord this is absolutely insane.
Better armor allows you to take more hits, but poise is really the thing that you should be worried about for the most part.
Welp. It's not that simple. I googled it.. And came across a thread spanning 7 months of deducing how damage is calculated between attack rating, defense, and damage blocked. But, from what I can tell these differences are totally meaningless (past the beginning phase) when a PvE boss will smash you for huge amounts of damage and every generic PvP opponent wields a maxed fire/lightning weapon with their stats pushed past the softcap. Sure there are specific resistances and bla-bla-bla, but when all is said and done (it seems to me): you either play this game so much that you never get hit in the first place or you level your vitality and keep a stack of 99 humanity/+7 estus flasks.
That was an NPC. If it happened in the Parish it was probably Lautrec.
Gotcha. It was annoying. Though, he couldn't hit me, but we would stop each other's movements, so I blocked him in a hall for the host to kill at his leisure. :v:
Prepping the level 10 invasion.
Prepping the level 10 invasion.
I've been having fun invading in full dickwraith gear in the parish at SL16, I always drop a humanity for them if they don't attack instantly and if they do too little damage I switch to fists
I spent a good bit of today invading the Burg with my SL11 build and I either ran into SL100 people with Crystal Magic Weapon or SL5 people who couldn't figure out the sharp end of their sword. Such disparity wasn't fun at all so I think I might move somewhere else. Or maybe I should just pick up a gimmick and invade with that. Plenty of absolute newbies around so why not take advantage of it?
Burg is bad place to invade low-level players as since it's a pvp hotspot you'll be seeing SL120's a lot

Just be warned that some of them might have a summon who may be carrying a Elemental Weapon, so be prepared with something to deal with them if you see anyone wearing something unusual. Chances are they will have something to blaze through everything and you if you get in the way.
While I generally do agree that this is annoying, our minimum wage is over double that of america's
Yeah, but the cost of living is only a shit load higher then America as well so that doesn't really matter.
They should probably do some weird thing where if you have more than like 5 points spent in skills above your soul level, you get put in to pools with other cheaters etc. That'll stop people abusing stats and stuff, twinking isn't that much of a deal I guess. Still sucks, though. Also ban everyone who has retarded sin/stats etc from the book of the guilty.
Invaded some dude in the Parish, opened the sunlight altar bonfire gate for him like I usually do for everyone. He runs there past me, and starts chilling next to the bonfire. I try to suck humanity out of him and hit him with a skull lantern but he doesn't react. I drop some basic gear I got while running around the Parish (black knight shield, balder stuff) and prism stones and shit. He still doesn't do anything so I change myself to a white phantom and go beat up some hollows with my bare fists. Suddenly he appear from behind a corner, waves to me, and I don't feel like killing him anymore. We do bro-op all around the parish, me mostly emoting and keeping his back clear while he fights most enemies. Every time he did a successful parry I dropped a humanity for him. We reach the church side entrance. He summons some dude wearing the knight set, gargoyle helm, drake sword and grass crest shield. We clear the church, and while he's off freeing Lautrec with the drake sword phantom I go to the ladder room and turn back into a red phantom. Then drake sword guy enters the room first, immediately tries to backstab me while I beckon him to come closer. We start fighting and the host enters the area. Does he try to heal the drake sword dude? Does he try to gank me with him? No, he blocks the exit with a shield when the drake sword dude tries to escape. I suck some humanity out of him, unleash some sick pars and finish off with a dark hand riposte. We climb to the fog gate and while I'm trying to get him to attack me he just shrugs and walks through the fog gate, alone. What a badass. Also earlier today I was using the same character (build) and I kept walking slowly towards some new player with the skull lantern held up, he was spooked badly and ran to hide from me into the BKGS tower. I never saw him again.
