Who viewed the flamehausPORTAL videos?
It CAN check keyboard activity.
Except it doesn't do it. Why do you think some people have 5000h of play time in TF2? It's always recorded, even while idling
they don't fucking care if you idle, it's like folding@home. you only need to run the program/game to share processing power to the distributed computing platform, k?
wow okay i guess it went from 23 pages to 59 while i was gone that's cool this time i'm not actually going to bother reading because i'm sure that at least 20 of them are people bitching about the reveal GUESS I'M GONNA HAVE TO GO PLAY AUDIOSURF FOR A FEW HOURS
That would coun't as being idle, which i'm sure steam can detect.
Alright, alright but the only contribution i will give is me "idle" in one of the games, because i'm not going to suffer by actually playing the game for next several days. But in my opinion it's doesn't matter and if it can tell when your idle it's only when your not doing something on your computer meaning you can play some other game non-steam launched and enjoy your day.
this guy gets how distributed computing works.
As do I. Half of the people on this forums are just over thinking it. And getting it fast enough/not fast enough it's all a matter of opinion. I don't think they only wanted us to put one hour into this.
Seems like the red bars next to the games don't show how many CPUs there are, but rather it's computing something. I have a feeling if that bar gets to the end, it'll take away a big chunk of time. Saw an animated version, The Wonderful End of the World bar got a huge boost when a thousand people got to it, but it keeps going and going at just about the same rate even when it's only getting a few hundred people. How late am I?
damn 6.07 now [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] http://geiti.co.uk/sandbox/portal.php jumped
According to this, the hours ahead of scheduled release is going down
Damn, I won't be able to get Portal 2 for 1-2 weeks.. Fuck my life :smith:
wikis back up
I don't really get it. If Steam can check keyboard activity, why TF2 idlers still exist? I mean, Steam could check if they're idling and stop giving items for them. And why it counts time played if you're idling? I might be saying shit, though.
Well then blame Rockpapershotgun, I guess they missinformed us?
Damn, I won't be able to get Portal 2 for 1-2 weeks.. Fuck my life :smith:
Why?
Why?
You are probably the owner of that account, its obvious, really.

So yes, more people = faster, but it's not a capped number of players that need to be met.
Damn, I won't be able to get Portal 2 for 1-2 weeks.. Fuck my life :smith:
That's nothing, I won't be able to afford it until some christmas sale when it costs less than 10€ :saddowns:
-snip- realised i didn't refresh thread :v:
That's nothing, I won't be able to afford it until some christmas sale when it costs less than 10€ :saddowns:
Cry with me brother :crying:
According to this, the hours ahead of scheduled release is going down
Pretty sure that's because the @home page isn't updated in real-time so it's caculating by time. When the page gets updated i'm sure it will go back up. The person that is hosting that page should make it so that it doesn't get updated in real-time after the actual @home page updates.
That geiti thing is down. Any website this ARG touches dies :saddowns: And now it's back.
You are probably the owner of that account, its obvious, really.
Nope, but I watched a couple of the videos.
April 15th, 2011 Bye
Whats that meant to mean? (From the wiki)
ARG is become death
By the way, if anyone has an extra game from the pack that they're willing to give away, I'll take it. :) /noshame
http://valvearg.com/wiki/Potato_Sources To anyone here that still needs the potato sources, they're back up, just posting it to tell people.
So I just got home, and I see 1000+ new posts. So playing the Potato sack games helps towards P2's early release?
So I just got home, and I see 1000+ new posts. So playing the Potato sack games helps towards P2's early release?
yah but it's going incredibly slow.
