I just got through to that "BBS" number on my laptop with HyperTerminal. It rang several times then the modem sound came on, but HyperTerminal wasn't registering anything. The number isn't sending even so much as a Welcome screen or a login prompt to me.

I'm betting this phone number thing could be a red herring. Lord Ned on the Steam forums said someone picked up and said hello then nothing while others are claiming a log in screen. I wish I had the resources necessary to try in myself.
