Started playing Slardar today and did my first solo queues.
Four wins in a row, I love Slardar.

I never play SD any more. It's got an even worse case of Team Carry Syndrome than AP.
Me and some guys decided that Zet (Arc Warden) is best played as a solo suicide laner. He can farm from a distance with Spark Wraith, stop pushes with Magnetic Field and push himself with double Midas/Necrobook.

I prefer random draft
All random is fun because then you can't argue about picks and you can laugh hat the people whining about his/enemy team composition.
But there's an oh so lucky chance of spawning with 5 carries/no mid heroes/3 junglers and so on.

All random fucking sucks because you tend to be able to see who's gonna win right away, either because of one team getting horrible picks while the other team gets decent picks or because of one team get an absolute powerhouse lineup. Random Draft is only worth doing with a 4man, imo.

the main problem you listed is no mid, really. you can lane with a lot of "junglers," and sometimes more effectively. unless you're spawning with like, chen/enchantress... that's it, really. even NP can function decently in lane.

The thing with all random is that the people who random Magnus/Seer/SK/carry/anything think they are super pro when they stomp the Bloodseeker/Drow/Huskar/Tuskarr/Ursa team and proceeds to shit talk.

I once had Chen/Enchantress/Lifestealer on same team.
The Lifestealer refused to not jungle, and didn't want to repick either.
So I just outcarried a fucking farmed Anti-Mage, along with Magnus, Doom and Kunkka.
We were losing but somehow, I don't know how, they all lost to me, a goddamn Centaur. I am, however, fine with this.

obviously if the players weren't silly lifestealer could easily lane, as could enchantress. chen is really the only one who squanders his own potential by not jungling, but even then it's possible to do that mid chen thing.

I kinda liked him as a mid (if there isn't anyone better), with proper warding you can pull off some tricky stuff like spark wraith-ing the rune spot, waiting for the enemy to go pick up the rune and then surprise him from behind, it takes some practise and luck though, since it doesn't deal much damage to begin with.

I always heard how SD is better than AP, but I have been fucked over several times on that mode
The people with supports pick carries, "ok we need a support" you look at your heroes and all of them are fucking farm dependant, plus the enemy might get some snowball hero which has very few/especific counters, the later isn't that much of an issue in RD
And sometimes I ask myself "why the fuck do I even bother with AP?", like yesterday, some idiot with a hero more counterable than mine (which got fucking countered) says soomething along the lines "Disruptor in ap...stupid"

Nobody ever understands just HOW scary Chen is.
A Chaos-bolt level nuke, but for pure damage is no joke.
And I don't think there's stuff more fun than netting people and then beating them to death with creeps.

Oh man, my first Chen game. I farmed in the jungle till I had my Aghanim and meka. A minute later our team won the game because frankly my team didn't give a shit about me.
Dota 2 isn't working for me for some reason, keep getting "connecting to the dota 2 network" for the past day
Talking bout chen, I just got forced into semi-solo-bottom lane against CK + Sven / semi-enemy-jungle with Lycan lurking around (And sven and CK near him).
Thankfully Shaker came later to let us somewhat lane together, but still, prophet took woods over me :<

NP can be crazy good in lane because he can TP willy nilly and put people in trees. a really scary lane was razor and NP in a lane. You cant escape from Razor's nuke, and link at all.
I love playing Kunkka but my god, aiming his boat is a fucking mess.
