I'm ok with jets never playing the lower two brackets, but 11-20 or whatever it is should still include the jets. There's absolutely no point in grinding to them now, which probably isn't a problem for most people but I don't see why the devs would be retarded enough to do that

Yeah I agree, although I would like the ranks to all be in groups of 5, as I still find it hard to believe that a rank 11 Bf.109 will be able to compete with anything coming out of the Korean War, but they should be expected to hold their own on a lot of the endgame WWII stuff.

I wish I could get into those kind of brackets with my meteor. I swear every time I decide to fly the damn thing I'm always greeted by an enemy team composed of jets that are of course of higher levels than I. At that point it becomes safer to fly a prop plane because those can at least evade jets by turning, the meteor cannot do anything to effectively evade other jets. Can't out-climb, can't out-dive, can't out-turn, can't out-speed, the only thing I can seem to be able to do is hit my air brakes and hope that I can land shots on them when they overshoot me.

Plane prices and upgrade prices have been raised
Repair prices have been, for the most part, reduced severely.
Free repair times have been reduced as well. (P-47 went from a week to 1 day)
New premium option to buy a "Backup plane" upgrade, which allows you to, in arcade mode, use the plane again after being shot down. However, it is consumed on use, and the price varies depending on the plane you're flying. F-86's is 40 gold, the kittyhawk's is 1.

Try flying a Yak9t. That thing is ridiculous. I agree though, US planes are my favorites too although buying the Lightning was a waste of money. Not only is it a terrible piece of shit, since I have it in my line up it feels like I've been getting jet filled battles a lot more frequent. I might just dump it again for my trusty old Buffalo or Airacobra.

Prices are changing quite a lot, the two kingcobras next patch will be able to be fielded with ease. I'm most likely going to swap out my airacobra for them, currently my line up is...
Corsair F4Ua, Corsair F4Ud, Airacobra, Mk IX Spitfire, Avenger. Though may also swap the Avenger for the Hellcat, thunderbolt or B-25 if its cheap enough.
Thunderbolts are insanely expensive right now....
...but I still run with the Thunderbolt, both Wildcats and both top Kingcobras.
my money my problems. But recently I really went into economic mode and stick to the japs for the most part.

The idea is that the planes performance is supposed to be based upon historical performance values. The issue being is that some planes do not match how they should perform. Prime example being the spitfire mki turns almost 3 seconds faster than it should.
Usually when you hear someone mention "op" it means they outperform how they should.

I know about that since the p-39 was my most flown plane in il-2 1946.
Go fly it in simulator and you will see that it does not lift at WEP instead it goes into a gradual dive at any speed. It doesn't handle how it should and feels awkward to fly.
P-39 had a lot of touchy problems as a fighter; most pilots preferred the P-40 at the early stages of the war. But nonetheless it, the P-40, and the F4F were the fighters that won air supremacy over the Japanese in the Pacific in 1942.
For some reason I can't hit any planes directly with my 50mm me.410, it keeps flying straight into their cockpit and killing their pilot instead

ahem, Hellcat did contribute a lot. Most pilots referred it over the Corsair until near the end of the war.

Have you tried using your trim to compensate? I haven't flown the P-39 in anything but arcade mode because I don't want to flat spin to my death.
