IL2s are better at fighter-ing than actual fighters.

Ju-87 is also good at dogfights
counter those heavily armored su-2s/il-2s with the 37mm one.

If you can find a big furball in arcade, the 20mm Stuka is actually pretty good, as no one takes you seriously when there are actual fighters around, and landing flaps can help you make a surprise fast turn to surpise an enemy.

Or you can just use combat flaps
Or you can just use combat flaps
Last I checked the Stuka doesn't have combat flaps.
Also, just had the most baffling game I've ever had. Started off by having my ME-410, and both of my BF-109F's all having their right wing ripped off by a single burst of enemy fire without acquiring any kills. Figuring I'd attempt to salvage the disaster, I pulled out my BF-109E and managed a 4 air kill streak using low altitude turning battles, which are normally an awfully stupid idea for the BF-109, but apparently not today.

Planes with fixed landing gear don't have combat flaps, don't know how true to life that is.
Planes with fixed landing gear don't have combat flaps, don't know how true to life that is.
Landing degrees for flaps is usually 30-40 degrees depending on conditions and the aircraft. I think combat flaps is around 5-10 degrees.
Use the brackets keys in order to get the combat flaps on the Stuka.

The A5M4 has fixed landing gear and combat flaps :v:

Most of you should really take a second and read through the controls, you'll be surprised at how many controls you have that you didn't realize existed.
I dont know how warthunder handles it but some planes dont actually have to ability to set flaps at a certain angle
The spitfire only has a switch to control to flaps
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8682580/New%20Folder/zues09_016.jpg[/t]
either landing or up
While the bf-109 has a pulley wheel that controls the angle of the flaps

I cant remember if you can use anything other than landing flaps on the spitfire in warthunder.
Nope Spitfire only has two flap settings, up and landing

you sure about that?
:O I stand corrected then. I've always just used Z and X for my flaps.
Also jesus christ the P-39 is such a great bomber hunter

Indeed, I didn't think I'd use my trim when I first started playing (never used it in IL-2), but it's actually quite useful. I've yet to use feather prop. The few times it came up I didn't remember what key it was.

If you enjoy hunting bombers I'd recommend getting both of the 50mm me.410s, they're great fun and nothing beats watching the shot fly into the bomber and tear off something important.
Thats meant to be a bug currently.
Doesn't change the fact that you can still do it and it affects your plane's maneuverability
I also don't see how it's a bug when there's other planes that don't have the ability to use combat flaps. Seems more like they haven't gotten around to correcting it yet if anything.

Yeah I'd love to get some of the higher tier German aircraft, I really need to start grinding that tree, and I might as well soon since I'm already at rank 6 with them.
Speaking of bomber hunting I think it might be interesting they included a Schräge Musik weapon configuration option for planes that had it. Would be good against bombers that lack a bottom gun.
The ar-234 had rear facing cannons with a periscope to aim with.
No idea how they would implement that.

Its a bug for the spitfire? Surely you know the spitfire has no combat flaps. Trojan even said it was a bug.
I must not have said it clearly enough.
I believe it's incompetence on the dev's part rather than a bug that allows the spitfire to set the flaps to combat. There's other planes that didn't have combat flaps and don't in the game, so I don't see why it would be a bug that causes the spitfire to have that option.
I'm not denying that the spitfire didn't have a combat setting for their flaps, I don't know where you got that from.
[editline]17th March 2013[/editline]
It doesn't matter anyways, I just don't really think it's fair to blame it on some bug in the game when in reality it's probably just the devs being incompetent

I was disappointed to see the lack of cannons on the Ar 234.

Damn, those cannons have TWENTY ammo. Just how much shit does a 50mm round slap to take up that much space?
I was disappointed to see the lack of cannons on the Ar 234.
There was also a distinct lack of RATO units which are necessary for the heavier bomb loads.
Some of the earlier US carrier based jets which are planned to be added relied on RATO units or a catapult system to take off. Neither of these have been implemented.
Speaking of carrier take-offs they need to make some of the carriers in the missions moving and add wind. Some planes/loadouts could only take off with the carrier sailing with its back to the wind.

IRL A 20mm round hitting a aircraft is pretty damaging while a 37mm is a devastating hit which would kill the pilot and destroy the plane. Imagine what a 50mm round does.
Pretty much anything you hit with the 50mm dies in warthunder atleast.
Sweet christ.

Oh, and here's nine minutes of some dude just wrecking people with this thing.
Is the ME410 tree worth investing into, the Hs 129, or just go for American bombers and hope for 75mm b25 XD.
I dunno about you, but I'm going for that ME410. It's like I've been searching for something the whole time I've been playing WT, and now I've found it.
Glorious Air Sniper Rifle, you will be mine.

75mm B-25 isnt coming out yet, only the J ones which just have lots of turrets (5) and 50cals (6)
Where are the B-25s in terms of tier/price? I know the B17s are expensive as fuck.
[editline]17th March 2013[/editline]
Jesus, I can only imagine how much ass a 75mm round would kick.
