yeah you probably should have dived away, gained altitude, then dived on him. Or even just get him into a turn battle. JU-87's are slow, not agile in the slightest, and don't carry any firepower at all. Why you would even dogfight a dive bomber is beyond me.
We were both very low altitude above the ground, so diving is not a thing lol. I was already slightly dmged from the tailgunner of his previous JU87. I tried climbing away and diving on him, and I also tried to fly away, and turn back around on him. I tried everything, trust me. He was a pretty good player, probably using his airbrake and flaps just as I was to stay behind me, he could just fly much slower than I could while staying in the air.
I don't think thats true, I've been able to repair planes just fine, crash landing even. You get a looping bailing out message though, but it doesn't do anything.
after the patch I landed an only slightly damaged (pink wings, and fuselage) and the repair timer never came up. There was a patch today (the 21st) that says something about "Fixed repair on the airfields being taken" so it could have been a bug.
not allowed to play tier 0 without lagg-3s and other things that are way higher than tiers 0-1
only good thing about the p51 is the looks
Two questions. Does jumping out of your plane actually do anything for you and what does repair rank actually do?
Ramming is a great way to achieve an honorable death when your plane is barely able to stay in the air.
Everyone seems to of been complaining about getting rammed at first(first threads anyway) but now everyones up for ramming an enemy? Is everyone bipolar or is there a deeper meaning to this...?

I think repair rank determines how much you can have repaired when you land at an airfield. The higher it is, the more fucked up your plane can be and you can still get it repaired.

This sounds correct, and maybe this is part of why people's autoboots are different?
loving my p-51d worse in absolutely every way than the first yak
thanks gaijinn.
The P-51 has never been a good plane in any of the IL2 games ever.
I'm rather enjoying this game, and my new Gladiator (I started yesterday). Not doing to bad either, just need to work on not fucking up as much. (Going too deep into a dive etc).
[editline]22nd March 2013[/editline]
Although not enjoying the 350 ping.
Valdor, you should be dead and you know it.
Since we're talking about ramming, the P39 is literally a giant flying spear. If you build up speed in a dive you can literally slice through the middle of a Yak and take no damage while they explode into a fireball.
Yeah well the Bf 109 has a saw on the front of it.

Ugh.
Let me paint you the picture, i'm flying my hurricane over wartime Norway, infront of me, is another hurricane. I've soom emptied about all of my MG's (12 MG's mind you) into the other hurricane, and critted him. Suddenly, from above, a friendly airplane comes infront of my fire, i stop shooting immidietly. But it stilll seem to hit him once, the friendly airplane proceeds to fly to the enemy hurricane, he rams him. And the results:
I kill a friendly airplane. I don't eve get an assist on the enemy airplane...
And the friendly airplane that flies into the enemy airplane gets the kill...
By the way, where do you go to find your ping to a server? Every now and then I get big flashing words on the middle of my screen saying "BAD CONNECTION" but I still don't know exactly what the ping is..
EDIT: Does accuracy have something to do with general "hit chance". I know we all know the story about how you shoot 2 belts of ammo, and the plane is still standing, and then some Yak flies in and snipes it from you. But just now, I shot down a friendly buffalo with a stray cannon round, and he was pretty far from where I was aiming (or where the tracer went).

Bottom left
Ramming is only a pain in the ass when the rammer seems to fly away unharmed whilst you plummet to the ground in a fireball

I've been able to ram so many planes and survive after this patch. I rammed twice in one game of full real and went back to base to repair.

no it's actually really annoying if you get rammed no matter what fucking happens. It's bullshit to get killed out of your aircraft in the most cowardly and unrewarding way possible. nobody wins when your ram.

Yeah I had 3 people ram my P-39 and I was able to fly off, then 2 more hit my IL-2 before they borked my elevator.

My bf-110 after 4 rams

also had 3 fires that had went out
Ramming is only annoying when the retard rams you from the front. And 99% of the people I play with anymore have smartened way up. Rams from the back and into bombers are fair game. Rockets are slightly more annoying (ly OP and effective).
Can someone tell me why I'm getting one shotted by people 1/3rd of the time. Yet whenever I kill someone I spend at least a minute and about 8-10 bursts of cannon/mg before they go down.
I have omni ammo belt on most of my planes too. I don't know whether these people are using anti air belts or they're just really good shots.

getting one shotted is usually more memorable than the times where you get really fucked up but still fly. Maybe you are mistaken, or maybe you have a bad connection so when you shoot people it is kind of shitty. Or maybe your planes suck. or maybe you suck. How are we supposed to know v:v:v

Well yes, I don't get one shotted constantly, but it's often enough for me to question it.
My connection is fine, I'm using the 109s at the moment and other tier 5-6 stuff. I'm an average player and I can get 4-5 kills a game, I'm just talking about when I spawn a plane and a good few times I have been shot down with one burst. And the planes that are shooting me are just the fighters that I am using myself like Hurricanes and 109s.
Man, fuck the new economy.
It costs 210,000 lions to qualify a tier 7 plane to expert now.
I can only imagine how much worse it is at even higher tiers.

I think it has to do with the new ammo types that are implemented terribly and are pretty shit. I couldn't kill the poor AI bi-planes in full real even with the "anti-aircraft" ammo in my bf-109f4.
I was thinking the ammo was going to a somewhat simplier version of il-2 clod ammo
[t]http://i.imgur.com/b6pmsNI.jpg[/t]
with the ability to select the order in which the ammo fires and what type.

Thats pretty much my tactic now. Whenever some dip shit tries to ram me from the front, I just unload my rockets in his general direction and waste him.

What garage loud out are you using? Whats the highest tier and average tier of your garage? One of the main issues I had early on was the free premium planes they gave out to Russians and the one I bought for the british kept getting me into way high tier matches, and trying to shoot down Migs in a Tier 2 or 3 hurricane is no fun.

I'm varying between my tier 6 British and 7 Germans. I don't think this is the problem because in most matches I'm getting paired with planes of my tier. I do get the occasional mismatch though, for example I will come up against a Typhoon yet I was using a Hurricane Mk 2.
Most recently though, I was using my BF-109 F4, full health I'd literally just spawned. I wandered round for a while and tried to hunt a bomber, I ended up diving to low level and got one shotted by a another BF-109 F4. So in this case I wasn't really outmatched.
I've also just got the anti air belt for my 109-E3 but I haven't noticed much difference other than my bullets look nice and explosive.

I believe you've probably been exposing your cockpit, and your pilot has been shot. No way to know for sure, but that's normally how I kill people in a quicker than normal amount of time.
