Ki-43, F4F, Hurricanes, and Spitfires IMO are perhaps the most fun to fly for me, implying for the air superiority role. Many of the low tier planes are very, very versatile, but I only enjoy playing in Biplanes and F2As when I'm fighting tier 0-3 players, although some would say they're fun for higher tier matches too.

If you want to play FRB, just buy a 20$ logitech joystick and go play IL-2: 1946. It's superior in every way except for graphics quality.

I really do love the ki-43, I have surprisingly been having a lot of fun with the il2s lately. The cannons on it are like buzz saws.

If you can catch a dip shit thats tries to get you into a turn battle, it's really fun. It also can carry 6 or 8 rockets, so its a pretty decent PBY hunter and does OK on soft ground targets. Considering it's only 6$, it's worth the purchase IMO. That and the soviet P39Q.

So when did they change the Wellington to be made out of titanium?
As I was approaching and area to bomb in my wellington Mk X, and XP-38 begins to strafe me. So by this point, I am dead. However, after 5 runs upon me, where my plane has swallowed hundreds of bullets, I'm still not dead. Make no mistake, I was all but crippled, with every part of my plane red or black except for my nose and my right flaps. In fact, my left engine even caught on fire before I shut it down and restarted it.
So, by this point, I'm trailing smoke, unable to climb, with my left wing drooping from the damage. My attacker isn't fairing much better either, by virtue of the number of 7.7mm bullets shot at him.
Then an A-20, Bf 109 and FW 190 decide to go in.
It takes them another twenty seconds to finally down me, during which my [i]other[/i] engine catches fire (I stifle the flames again), and every part of my plane turns deep red or black. They finally got me when my entire tail broke off, but just before I lost control, I finally got that XP-38.
My respect for the wellington is now enormous.

They buffed bombers health considerably in 1.29.
I just unlocked the yak-9t, I enjoy it so much I spent 3 dollars for crew points. I nearly have my reload skill maxed out now and I'm at expert qualification, I am a terrible person. The plane has gone from a 35 second reload time to 15 seconds.

They buffed the [I]health[/I] of the hull and the wings, but I fear that the tail section and control surfaces are just as weak if not weaker due to everything's new DM, which is contiguous with real life but not so much in an arcade mode setting. I've popped off a bunch of bombers' tails or sent them into uncontrollable dives with small amounts of 12.7 fire. It may be that the new ammo types aren't quite balanced yet.

The first spitfire handles loveably well, but doesn't have airbreaks or much firepower.
Does anyone else think the IL2M is a fantastic fur ball fighter? It can take an absolute beating, turn reasonable well at slow speeds, and it has twice the firepower of many planes. I find it very easy to get a bunch of kill with this plane in large dogfights.

I was about to thank you guys for giving me a good bomber doctrine to play with generally, where you act at high speed, sacrificing altitude to get away from people, diving, sticking near the team, but I realize I'd just had two very luck rounds. Bombers are just flying balls of XP waiting to be cashed in on, and you get to decide how much effort it takes, but if the enemy wants to kill you they will and there is nothing you can do about it. And if you're playing a high tier bomber there's TRULY nothing you can do about it.
Theres really no point in playing past tier 10 in the first place, honestly.

The rudder is way too sensitive. I try to use it to make small adjustments (like you're supposed to) when firing and it just throws my plane way off.
Personally, I decided to give Russians a shot, and I'm staying at rank 1-3 planes and having the most fun. Everything is hilariously overpowered and fun to play around in, and I'm already up to rank 5.
So instead of making assists worth more, they removed assists entirely except in cases of critical hits where someone steals your kill. How exactly did the devs expect this to improve gameplay.

But I want to play my P-51. It's actually fun, and I like the dynamics of high tier dogfights (outside of bombers, although it works the opposite way for non-bombers vs bombers) way more. I guess Gaijin wasn't making enough money from gold purchases.
The F2P business model [del]strikes again[/del] ruins another game with promise. As you patch your game from incomplete -> complete your game should not get [I]worse[/I].
