M16 Junior with weird ass beliefs (US as good guys, RUS as bad guys).
Well, anyway.
You need to play the tutorial mode (Play as an assault and get first service star/unlock all primary weapons for the assault), then you are able to use this amazing and totally forgotten, never used by anyone, M16A3.
Yeah, BF3's netcode might not be perfect, but it's absolutely amazing compared to any cod game.
Can't really say that cod has better combat either, because of that exact reason.

Its pretty much what it says, you play with a friend or some fucktard random and do some shitty missions to get points to unlock weapons.
Co-op sucks pretty much, you can just farm the 2nd mission to hell and back in the viper to get all the points.

It's special campaign-like missions that you can play with one other person.

Well, co-op, is... a co-op. Cooperative missions, they couldn't go more straight forward with descriptions in it.
Explore battlelog a bit, there are 2 big ass CO-OP buttons. You can't miss it, unless you are using 128x64 resolution.
TIP:
IT's very easy to run through all of it. When you do run through all of it, try to farm last mission and just keep running and [SPOILER] Detonate the bomb (fail the mission), doing this over and over, you will reach all weapons VEEEEEEEEEERY FAST, as it actually gives you like 25-40% of the full mission value as a "failed" reward.

i remember co-op in battlefield being conquest with bots roaming around the map without a clue as to what's going on. that's what i figured it was. i would have never guessed dice would have even bothered to make a proper co-op gamemode

Shit, I wish that's what it was. The co-op is mostly incredibly dull, poorly made run-of-the-mill shooting gallery shit, with a couple gimmicks thrown in. Playing with bots in the old games was far more fun, and it would probably be pretty nice in BF3 (Hell, it might have even helped in circumventing newbies from trying to fly jets/helis and failing miserably in public games)
Dunno what's your problem, guys. I pretty much enjoyed co-op (with friends of course) and singleplayer.
A least it's not as weird as in CoD where 75% of the time you stare at exploding helicopters.
Still remember Going Hunting (jet mission), Thunder Run (tank rush mission) and Kaffarov (parachute jump to villa).

Yes, they are not dead at all. You will still find plenty of populated servers.

Only 9 servers show up for me, and most are empty :( Which is really weird, because I looked at a server tracking website and there's lots listed!

i liked the alpha sounds...the soldiers screamed a lot and that really gets me inmersed in the battlefield.
Quiet soldiermen almost just talking while shooting is kinda odd.

I've kind of been meaning to get back to it just to compare it to how BF3 feels like for me at the moment, but I remembered there's not much else for me to do in BC2, since I've unlocked everything there was to unlock.

I would probably still be playing BC2 if DICE released more than just one decent map pack.

At least they all were released for free, aside from the Vietnam pack. I got it on sale for $5 so I'm not complaining.

i wished the vietnam pack was a full blown game, those maps were fantastic and they really captured the era well.
then again, maybe origin should just put battlefield vietnam online.
