The developers had to reduce vision range and texture quality to make the game run on lower-end PCs because of the rather large levels.
Fortunately you can use AtmosFear 2/3 along with the Absolute Texture Pack and use the grass extension trick to make it look much, much better.

Anyone know of any mods that are decent/good for clear sky? or any in general that i could browse through?
Oh god, OGSE is the first mod to make me horrified by fleshies; Theres like two variants and one normal and one on crack in every respect and they talk which is creepy.

Snorks and blood suckers are notorious for being tough from what i recall, although snorks are weaker compared to bloodsuckers. usually a blast from a shotgun at close range kills em for me.

I enjoyed the first book for what it was but it was quite apparent that it was the author's first book and it read a bit like a fanfiction. Good fanfiction but still.
Besides the pervasiveness of the popular culture references and the fact that the author was using the game as a crutch a bit too much ; ([sp]Agroprom Underground sequence[/sp] , some errors that would sort of make sense by videogame logic but not outside it and the Afghanistan sequence transporting too many characters and factions from the Ukrainian Zone which was sort of a bummer since it would've been more interesting to have the factions be dictated by the local circumstances like The Tribe or what have you , I'm still glad that I read the book and I would recommend it over some of the russian S.T.A.L.K.E.R books.[/QUOTE]
Yeah, I had to chuckle when I saw a couple familiar names from here in the book. I had remembered something about the author posting here or something to that effect, but couldn't remember more than that.
I do agree though, it was still worth reading. I haven't actually read any of the Russian S.T.A.L.K.E.R. books now that you mention it.

also, SC and NP are a hundred times better than the garbage commissioned by GSC as 'graphic novels'...
Is there a legitimate co-op mod for any of the STALKER games? I love the hell out of this series but I wouldn't be able to contain myself if there was a way to play the campaign with my best friend.

I need some help. Me and a friend are trying to play Call of Pripyat online using hamachi with the Stalker Online mod. I wish I could play TFW longer than 15 minutes without it crashing.
That sounds like a problem on your end. I have a really shitty computer and could play it steadily for several hours. My FPS wasn't always in the double digits, but it didn't crash.
