Is upgrading armour and weapons going to be in redux 2.0? If so, are we going to get to stick artifacts into the weapons and suits to make them better? It'd be kinda cool to have an incendiary shotgun that makes you weaker to chemicals or something like that.

There (probably) won't be artifacts weapons, but there will be variants for each weapon like "Fast Firing AK-74", "Balanced AN-94 Abakan", etc. [editline]24th March 2013[/editline] Fuck [editline]24th March 2013[/editline] OH WAIT, there are artifacts weapons variants in Redux. Only thing is their reliability is halved.
incendiary shotgun that makes you weaker to chemicals or something like that.
that's some borderlands shit right there, son
Did some wizard shit today. Check this:
SSDs do wonder aswell, I can't play CoP without it anymore.
So, guys. Long time no post. I was at PAX East the last couple days, and I got to play Metro: Last Light on Xbox and PC. The only good thing I can say about it is that it keeps the aesthetic Metro feel. The stations full of people feel alive and cozy just like 2033, and the character design is still great. However, there's not much new even in the art design. I didn't see a single new weapon, and honestly even running maxed on one of NVidia's showfloor PCs, I didn't see a lot of graphics improvements other than better anti-aliasing. The gameplay is another story. First of all, hitmarkers, even if you're using a gun with a laser sight instead of a crosshair. Second, your knife is now a BF3-style press-V-to-swipe affair, with a takedown animation if you press it behind a human enemy. Third, throwing knives are also a one-button mechanic, and hitting anywhere on enemies is an instant kill, unlike having to aim for the head or neck in 2033. Shooting mutants is just as boring as 2033, they just run around the screen and occasionally damage you from the side before running away again. Last Light's biggest offense, though, is the stealth. Remember, the No-Man's-Land mission in 2033, where sneaking past everyone was really difficult? Well, the simple act of crouching in Last Light rendered me an invisible knifing-machine, and enemies stared right at me without reacting as I crab-walked around the level doing knife takedowns on people in full view of everyone. I'm really disappointed. You get the sense that they put a lot of work into building the new environments, then just got lazy with the guns, combat, and stealth (or had to rush everything out the door, but that doesn't explain the hitmarkers or press-x-to-kill knifing). Don't buy this game if you were expecting an improvement on 2033. [editline]24th March 2013[/editline] Proof: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/6wlRImC.jpg[/img_thumb]
But... the stealth and throwing knives were the best part of 2033 ;_;
Howdy ho! Welcome back Stalker! Well, that's quite dissapointing about Last Light. Why do people like to dumb down the functional mechanics so much?
Because they are lazy and want it to be easier I guess.
why do developers purposefully shoot themselves in the foot with things like this absolutely no one likes it when games dumb down their mechanics, even the most casual person, after playing Metro 2033, would be disappointed. And no graphics updates? you sure they just didn't implement them in the demo version? That seems like the absolute last thing the Metro devs would do
~appealing to a wider audience~ And to think that could've happened to staker in the worst case scenario.
My hopes have been crushed. Seriously, what the hell Deep Silver?
I can kinda see why they'd sodomise the game like that i.e. it's what sells, but why would someone who's into that shit go for Metro rather than a known brand like CoD? They're not going to get much benefit from appealing to such an audience, and end up alienating a group that would've been certain to purchase it.
ugh that's disappointing as fuck if it's true
Also note that it's not Deep Silver's fault, if the game is like that then it's the fault of THQ and the Metro team. Deep Silver hasn't owned the game long enough to make big changes to it.
Isn't it slated for a May release? It could give them some time to improve upon these unfortunate bugs.
Isn't it slated for a May release? It could give them some time to improve upon these unfortunate bugs.
I wouldn't call hitmarkers and casualized knifing bugs.
Well that's fucking great
Does anyone have a fix for the grass pop-in in CoP? Or at least a way to extend the range at which it shows up? (Preferably one that works with Doom's Mod Merge)
yeah there's a dll you can get to extend grass distance to whatever you want, it reduces framerate but it's worth it. can't remember a link though :(

Don't buy this game if you were expecting an improvement on 2033.
We've already seen tons of in game footage though showing tons of awesome looking new gameplay mechanics as well as tons of new guns, and you're saying that they either threw all of their new guns out, or just didn't include any in the demo. I find it hard to believe they would get rid of all new guns so I'm going to assume that they just weren't in the demo you played. As for the hitmarkers, there better be an option to disable that shit. I don't really mind the knife takedowns, and in Metro 2033 you didn't have to hit someone in the head or neck with a throwing knife. Almost all of my throwing knife kills were torso hits. Not to mention, you didn't tell us the difficulty level your demo was playing at. It was probably the lowest since it was being displayed at a convention where all types of people were playing it. They have confirmed a ranger hardcore difficulty level already which I would assume gets rid of most of the easy stuff you already mentioned(hitmarkers, lasers, improving AI, making stealth harder, etc). I'm remaining optimistic and will still preorder as soon as I have the chance. I would recommend everyone not let this information about the demo dampen their excitement.
also we should update the OP pastebin or whatever, page lock in 2 pages - new title thoughts?

Just wondering, is there a mod that adds gasmasks and such to the default armors?
Just wondering, is there a mod that adds gasmasks and such to the default armors?
What game? And more importantly, what do you actually mean? In SoC and CS, masks are integrated into suits. In CoP you can equip them separately. [editline]25th March 2013[/editline] Sorry if I'm being patronising, I just don't know if you know this stuff already.
SoC, I always see the suits saying they have masks and such, but the face of the character is always uncovered
