It's a great feeling when you go to launch SoC with whatever mod is already in there and then you get AMK.
Does anyone have a fix for the grass pop-in in CoP? Or at least a way to extend the range at which it shows up? (Preferably one that works with Doom's Mod Merge)
If you play in DX10 (ONLY), you're in luck!
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8664592/xrRender_R3.dll
Use r__detail_distance to change grass distance (needs a map reload to take effect)
If you play in R1, R2, or R4 (DX8, DX9, and DX11 respectively), you can use this, though this doesn't have console control of the grass distance.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8664592/xrpatch.v.0.8.rar
You'll need activeperl installed for this and know how to use a command line.
Command would be
xrPatch.pl -file xrRender_R2.dll -game cop -patch 2 -line 121
49 is default grass render distance, something over 200 is theoretical maximum with this method.
SSDs do wonder aswell, I can't play CoP without it anymore.
TODAY, IN STALKER DND...
After regrouping, Conrad and Ikiviher fought a motherfucking dragon. Ikiviher got coloured in black stuff, but Conrad (dual wielding a fire-axe and a machete) attacked the creature, hanging onto it as it span around and all that shit! Then fucking Andrei and Merchant joined in, attacking the creature! Before it flew off a cliff, Conrad and Merchant jumped off. Not before Conrad put a pin inside it.
A fucking grenade pin. He had hold of the grenade.
He threw it away, but laughs were had.
Then, after some wierd directions and misunderstandings, we found a metal panel in the floor, built into concrete, with some buttons next to it. Conrad simply ripped off the panel with his bare hands, and the party went inside.
And then Merchant fucking cannonballed the ladders and we were suddenly all ontop of each other. METAL GEAR STALKER VENT CRAWLING and ASS SHOTS.
We all split up. Conrad and Ikiviher stayed together in one vent, Merchant down another, and Andrei in the other one. Conrad and Ikiviher ended up falling out of the vent and landing ontop of each other. Ikiviher then acted like a massive cocktease to Conrad, and then we met Father Valerian! But he had been captured and the monolith had tried to turn him into a preacher.
He had resisted their brainwashing, however, and was now going to help us kill the Monolith's leader, thus bringing our campaign to a close...

New campaign next week? Is it confirmed?
We've already seen tons of in game footage though showing tons of awesome looking new gameplay mechanics as well as tons of new guns, and you're saying that they either threw all of their new guns out, or just didn't include any in the demo. I find it hard to believe they would get rid of all new guns so I'm going to assume that they just weren't in the demo you played. As for the hitmarkers, there better be an option to disable that shit. I don't really mind the knife takedowns, and in Metro 2033 you didn't have to hit someone in the head or neck with a throwing knife. Almost all of my throwing knife kills were torso hits.
Not to mention, you didn't tell us the difficulty level your demo was playing at. It was probably the lowest since it was being displayed at a convention where all types of people were playing it. They have confirmed a ranger hardcore difficulty level already which I would assume gets rid of most of the easy stuff you already mentioned(hitmarkers, lasers, improving AI, making stealth harder, etc). I'm remaining optimistic and will still preorder as soon as I have the chance. I would recommend everyone not let this information about the demo dampen their excitement.
It doesn't strike you as a little bit odd that the PAX demo, the showcase of the game that Deep Silver wanted to be seen and played by tens of thousands of people, wouldn't showcase new guns or these "awesome new gameplay mechanics?" It doesn't make much sense that they would leave out pretty much all of the game's new features in what's essentially a marketing demo unless:
A. Those parts were stripped out of the game between then and now
B. Those parts are still so unfinished they can't be shown to anyone (unlikely, since the game is coming out in >2 months)
C. Everyone involved with marketing the game is stupid
Would I be able to get in on the next campaign of Stalker DnD?

I would honestly guess that it's either because they are still being tweaked, or they don't want to spoil them for the actual game. It is a little peculiar but I can understand that if these new things still need tweaking, then they wouldn't put them in the demo. Just to name the new guns that we've seen so far, there was a high caliber bolt action rifle, a single shot shotgun, a saiga, and a minigun. There might even be more new ones in the final game. I can't imagine they would cut all of those guns for no reason.
Is the thing about the ranger-hardcore being only available to pre-orders true?
Since Etc is offline, I'll leave my message here:
Can I have bandit jacket references? Focus more on the upper torso preferred.
And I'm finally finishing my [Green] RPG Cave comic.

What mod is that?

It's for LURK 1.2
so redux 2.0 is going to be adding on new areas right?
so redux 2.0 is going to be adding on new areas right?
IIRC he was going to, but he has scrapped that idea, and felt like the game could use some more interior areas instead of new maps, if that is what you're wondering.
So he is expanding the game, from the the inside.
that's called "supersize penetration"

I have a 256GB SSD on SATA 3. It's not fast enough.

The scope texture is probably used for multiple weapons. Therefore it would be only accurate to one at best.

Unless they made a bajillion new scope textures for each weapon.

Actually there's at least one brand new map and a new underground section. What he scrapped was the Clear Sky levels.

this. one brand new level, a lab, and one sort-of-new level.

You forgot the part where Andrei farted inside the cramped vent while Merchant was behind him.
That lab will be bonkers.

But the CS levels are some of the best levels.

Still want to see Hospital and Limansk have their own a-life as any other locations. They're just too good to be linear shoot'em'all levels.
Hospital is far too linear and Limansk needs a major rework to be a good a life level

And here our Stalker DnD adventure comes to a close.
CREDITS:
Andrei as Jerry Seinfeld
"Danger" Conrad as Cosmo Kramer
Ikiviher as Elaine Benes
Merchant as George Costanza

They're some of my favorite levels in the whole series.
And of course they're linear shoot 'em ups.
God damn it GSC.
