Once we get a hybrid penetration item, yes.
But right now, last whisper is about as good as void staff on him. Meaning not very. His damage is very very very balanced between AP/AD.

but 80% of his damage output is physical, you can check that at the end of any jax game under damage dealt to champions

Easy roles don't exist in competitive games, for everything you consider easy, there is an enemy twice as good at it, kicking your ass because of it.
Except support IS an easy role. If your ad carry dies your new task is to not die (and not play riskier because your ad carry wants to). If your ad carry is in lane and your team is ganking your task is to CC anybody. In a teamfight pop your active items and CC anybody, tank damage and do whatever.

Except Jungle IS an easy role, if your lanes are pushing you just go kill monsters. If your lanes need help you just go to a lane and kill the enemy.
I tend to pick Support in ranked, unless someone else calls it. I feel like it's easy to grasp the basics of a Support (don't farm, buy wards, support your carry) but playing them well at all stages of the game is a different story. Support is a very important role, and I feel like forcing someone into it (especially if they don't know how) is an easy way to lose.

If you play support in lower tiers you should just try to find yourself an AD carry to play with for a few games.
( And then play something mega cheesy such as taric+graves [I]or[/I] vayne/kog/cait + nunu )
Me and my brother used to cheese the shit out of normals with Taric Garen bot, stun, shatter armor, silence, spin to win insta level 2 first blood we don't even bother farming much
