Just make sure you have enough free XP to research the first 85 [I]at least[/I]. Also check the weight as I think you need the tracks to mount it.
Just... don't play it with the stock gun for the sake of yourself and your team. If you have a whole lot of XP to spend, you might want to go up to the second 85, which will allow you to fire 250mm pen HEAT shells (aka fuck up every IS-8 you meet frontally) and be a whole lot more useful as a combat scout for your team.

Just so you don't do the same mistake as me, go for the engine after you get the 62-85T. It may seem like a lot (4 HP/ton) but this tank relies on soft stats to move so the engine really doesn't make that much of a difference compared to the guns.

Honestly, stick on vents, camo net, and binocs until you've got the turret researched. It works exceptionally well as a scout, and its how I netted enough EXP to upgrade everything fairly quickly.

He might have been using that building and only moved up after the tank was dead (but while he was still lit). Regardless, that's still a bad spot as to engage the other tanks, he had to move out of cover and expose himself to artillery. The overpass is still much better than a single dinky building.
