Its probably smart to start with an industrial character so you can get some cash rolling in, then use one of your two other characters as a combat char.

Is a civilian laser really needed for simple mining missions in 0.9 sec systems?

And if you are thinking about getting into PVP in the future don't go for a industrial at first. It sounds worth it but trust me don't bother wasting the SP. Make a pure combat toon and just do missions, you can make a lot of money doing lvl 4's and salvaging them.

So any good PVP fits for my Zephyr?

Me and the corp slaughtered an entire alliance fleet a week ago, there were about 6 of us and around 20 of them, but unluckily for them we were in pos bashing setup, and were also rather well organised. It's funny seeing a drake go down to about three thousand dps.
