Y-2 Titan battle.
So many titans, i thought it would not be that much, its like seeing trillions of isk fly. :bsg:
And apparently quite a bit of Goonfleet's forces were trapped both in system and on the other side of the gate into the system, because the node was so full, it wouldn't let anyone in, and lagged out/dc'd quite a few people.
CCP will reimburse them, they DC'd apparently
monthly subscription :frown:
I just paid for 4 months of eve
:smug:
I don't pay for my eve :smug:

Gonna buy EVE: Conquest (the boardgame) this or next week, so far it looks good enough to buy.

Y-2 Titan battle.
That's what puts me down about EVE. The combat is so boring. It's just about the strength of the forces colliding. All ships are in range, and take turns on fucking each other. The side with more and thicker dicks wins.
They could make a web client for it, and it would be fully sufficient.
Or maybe ASCII client.
CCP will reimburse them, they DC'd apparently
Depends on the GM usually. Losing 5 titans is on a much larger scale than any other losses due to lag, so I'm interested to see what CCP does.

Yeah, no. Have you ever actually PvP'd in the game?
Should I go with a Retriever or a Covetor as my first mining barge? I have the cash for the Covetor, but is it really worth the extra 15mil for one more strip miner and increased cargo capacity?

If the side with less dicks on it has more skilled dicks, they larger side will lose
unless its a 25 - 1 ratio

coveter can make money faster, retriever is more worth the money.
your choice

and with the fleets, the organisation, fleet composition, fleet effects, location (pos, station) all make a big difference

I did not, but that very video fully proves that point. The ships aren't even moving! I know there is choosing targets, helping other ships, and so on, but it's hardly important at all.
This is just how it seems from my play through 2 trials, where I tried PVE and a small bit of PVP, and any video I saw from the game. You can prove me wrong.
That is capital pvp, all clustered together. none of them could move anyway, becuase they where disconnected.
and there's the fact that they would have spent a good 5-10 minutes bumping each other should they try to warp out, get distance etc

But where is the fun then? The battle is ended at the moment the armies assemble.
For example in Wow (slow down, I know it's not a perfect game, I actually hate most of it), the PVP is a lot about twitch based action, using environment as advantage, having actually totally different strategies collide. In EVE, it just seems to me that once you are in the battle, it's just about sitting back and watching.
The only reason they weren't moving is because they are capital ships which were in siege mode which means they get a shit ton more damage but cant move.
The fact is that the 450v450 battles aren't made of action because that's how large battles are.
Think Civil war.
Small fleets, 50v50 or so, are the absolute best. Lag isn't a factor, and tactics actually matter.

it has been a while, but if I remember EVE correctly, it's like that if it's 1v1. but no one really does that IIRC.
I just discovered Dust 514. Looks really badass, but now Im curious to see how it will interact with Eve, I mean, how cool would it be if people fighting in Dust 514 could interact with Eve players in space, for reinforcements, or orbital strikes.

Steam has EVE Online for $5 with a 30 day subscription.
Is it worth it? I've heard the learning curve is steep, but is it manageable?
I've heard great things about the game, and I'm very curious. When that 30 day subscription runs out, will I regret spending the $5 on a game I'm never going to play again, or will I be compelled to drop another $15 to keep playing?
I've also heard that you can use in-game currency to extend playing time. How long will it take me to amass enough currency to purchase more playing time? I'm not big on paying to play a game I already own. The idea of monthly subscriptions makes my blood boil.

$5 is a great deal, especially to try it and see if you like it.
Subscriptions can be bought in-game, but are far too expensive for new players to achieve. And if you look at it this way, $5 +$15 +$15 +$15 = $50 is about 4 months of play time. A bit more than your average game would take to get through.
Oh hell, what's the worst that can happen? It's only $5.
How physically demanding is the game, though? I can run most Steam games (TF2, L4D, CSS, DODS, GMOD) without any problems at all. I used the System Requirements Lab to test my hardware, and it said I exceeded the recommended requirements. I only ask because the SRL also told me that I exceeded the recommended requirements of Mass Effect, and my computer won't run that for shit.
system requirements lab is a load of crap, it is highly inaccurate. what are your specs?

You'll run it fine if you run TF2 and stuff fine.
