Hmm, I am hoping so, but I have had my hopes up since the release date announcement... and... well... I am not to keen to get excited about it again.
I am thinking Feb. Anyone else? Maybe later this month even!
I'm thinking this Summer would be the earliest you can expect. Eventhough none of us knows the actual progress, so none of us can really tell.
With the amount of new stuff they've been showing us, I'm banking on a Spring release. Though sooner would be nice.

Perhaps that's just me being optimistic, but it's at least a little realistic, right?

Which fell through, so we can at least expect that most of it is done? I really wish that they would give us a estimate of how long it is going to take to release. Not even like a "Yeah its around 70% done so just give us like a month or two." Just a little something.
While you guys wait for this I'll wait for DNF :hurr: i really don't care how long this mod takes, Heck i get the feeling some of these modders will get recruited for valve

Look at portal they all got to go work for valve. These guys deserve to work there too. This mod has come very far.
A bunch of mods deserve it, but to be honest with you guys, I don't think BM really does. Think about it, they're all really great artists and programmers, but what they're doing isn't innovative at all. There's nothing new here, as they already have the story, level design, game elements, etc. all written down for them. All they're doing is using their talent to recreate it. It's gonna be a great mod, and I'd love to see some of the guys put to professional use, but this mod isn't really what that should be based on.

This mod is really great no matter what you say.
They should at least get to visit valve.

Some mods just do little skin changes where its just the same old boring animations from their original models. The black mesa source team have done all this on their own, even though the story was given to them, thats about it.

If movie awards were only given to movies that werent adaptations of anything (be it book, older movie, etc), most of the greatest movies wouldn't get an award. Although this is a bit different, the Black Mesa team is doing something far beyond other half-life 2 mods. The effort they are putting into it alone is worthy of the award.
Anyone else read the feature on this in PC Powerplay this month? Interesting reading. I'd upload it if I had a scanner that worked
I'm surprised Valve never used that technique, really innovative on the Black Mesa team's part.
They did work up some sort of facial expression system for Team Fortress 2.
if you rate me a disagree you're a moron EDIT: wow!

Sure the story is the same, and general layout of the maps is pretty much the same, but apart from that it's a total remake. They're not copying the levels, they're completely innovating on them. It's the same for a lot of things too. I agree, a lot of work is done, but so much more has to be remade. And it's because they had the patience and talent to remake it all is why I'm so proud of the team, and excited for the mod.

It's just that new games aren't spawned from teams like this, they're spawned by the guys that made Portal, and those that made CS and L4D. I'd love for them to get jobs in the industry, as I said, I just don't think they'll be anything special once they get there.

That's what sets them aside now; they are easily the most dedicated mod team I have ever seen. I have no reason to believe they would be any less dedicated if this was their paid job. EDIT: I am not implying that professional designers are not dedicated.

Dedication isn't something that helps you get a job, it's a requirement.

The leech looks like it's firing its lazor.
Why are you posting a picture of the HL1 and HL2 leeches?
That's Black Mesa's Leech. I pulled it off the website.
