I believe it, the face is affected by perspective.
It's part of the model. It's affected by the lack of AA and they probably needed a good way to tell what the front of it was, due to the fact that it's completely green, it might get a little disorienting.

I did this once.
I had the dream it was relesed and that i downloaded it while idling in Tf2. Then i decided to go back to sleep(While still dreaming). Then i woke up and said "I wonder if its done yet.". Then i woke up to only see that i had gotten nothing from my idling and that the server crashed over night.
