Is there a mod that does it the other way round?
Half-Life 2 story in HL1 engine?
I seriosly want that.
I feel BM(s) has lost the half-life feel.
I'll play it once, then rip the things I want (Most obviously HEV Robo from the deathmatch).
that "half-life feel" is basically all about low-poly models
get over it.
The only things I don't like is where they changed the Marines AI. They seem to act like nothing more than reskinned combine now.
I like Half-Life's fast paced grunts. They sprinted all over the place, always crouch-fired, burst-fired, would retreat when you ran toward them shooting, threw grenades when you hid. Sure, when you first encounted them off guard they'd run around like headless chickens, but then they'd find a spot and start shooting. They liked to keep moving too, so sometimes if you looked away from one, he'll move somewhere else.
The combine are, dare I say, very poor in comparison. Sluggish, stupid, bad aim, rarely use grenades.

In fact, removing those characteristics from the grunts are enough to spoil the entire half-life feel on it's own.

But they were unrealistically tough.
I can stand on top of one, holding down the trigger on an MP5 while he simply takes half the clip in the head before he drops.

That wasn't the point. I liked the face paced tactics they used.

a real soldier can take a full clip of mp5 ammo to the face easy, all he has to to is find cover and wait for the red on the edge of his screen to fade away, duh

I haven't heard of this. Who is doing it?

Operation black mesa(opposing force)
Guard duty(blue shift)
I was excited about this.
In 2005.
I couldn't wait for this mod like 2 years ago. Now I can wait.
It'll be cool sure. Lotsa hard work and all that shit. Looks kinda old now though...
Still gunna get it! Only because I cried when there were no Gargantuans in HL2. THEY ARE JUST SO CUTE AND CUDDLY!
Is it out yet? :downs:

They're making a whole new AI for the grunts. Can't wait for the release.

1 year after HL2 came out. :banjo:

How do you know? I haven't seen any footage of the marines. Link?

In the latest trailer you see them. Only for a bit, but you can tell it's different.

Yeah, i can tell from the pixels, and seeing quite a few marines in my time

I doubt you can tell there's a difference from a few seconds of gameplay with them in it.

Oh yeah forget about that.

You can notice the difference easily.
In Half Life the grunts sprint everywhere, and always crouch-fired in bursts of 3.
In Black Mesa they are seen strafing to the side and spraying at the player- like a Combine Soldier would do.

Yes, they have to make the AI exactly the same as the original and not add anything that would make the gameplay better because it would totally break the game, right? :downs:

The soldiers AI was pretty good. If they improved it that would make it better, but removing the quick sprint and accurate burst fire in favor of a sluggish run and spray & pray isn't an improvement.
Half Life AI were fucking annoying. They were totally screwed in the head they like went fucking crazy running around like nuts and chucking grenades and surviving fucking rockets to the face. Then fucking you up like 20 different ways while you were still trying to figure out whats going on.
THATS WHY ITS AWESOME
In Smod you can have a Metrocop rape you from 100 meters away with his shitty pistol, that's how dynamic you can make the AI in it.
Edit: Through console cvars by the way.
Half Life Source was released eons ago. This mod, if made, will have to out-do the official Valve version if it gets any credit. Still looks cool though.

Half-Life source didn't do anything but add ragdolls and insane recoil to the MP5 (it's virtually useless).
God damnit, for the last time, Opposing Force and Blue Shift were both announced as canon a long ass time ago.
what, source
i'm applying for the voice of G-MAN :D

This mod is being made because Halflife Source was shit and the developers wanted a real remake, not just shitty ragdolls.
People on the forums thought today would be the release date.

That would be awesome if it was true....
