BSoD again. Who was online for this one? Does anyone know what the hell caused it?
Please tell me you left the Human Projectile Resistance test in, because that was hilarious.
Yes, the Human Projectile Resistance test was the only one functional and/or science-y enough to leave, albeit with some modifications (read: I put a roof on so arrows don't stick in the ceiling.) Also I have no idea why the server would bluescreen; things seemed fine when I left last night.
BSoD again. Who was online for this one? Does anyone know what the hell caused it?
I seem to remember someone in the end typing in all caps: "I'LL BET YA'LL NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE!"
Is the server still down? It would seem to be so
Yeah something's wrong with it. :/ I'm going to try reinstalling everything.

Good news: It's not us causing the BSoDs! Woohoo! Bad news: Someone else is deliberately doing it remotely through some kind of nasty exploit. So uh. Fuck. [editline]19th March 2012[/editline] Waffle you got the arrows pointing in the wrong direction. [editline]19th March 2012[/editline] Secure, Contain, Protect not Throw Away, Let Loose, Ignore.

Must be wrong one. Fixed: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33668121/Fp/2012-03-19_22.23.16.png[/img_thumb]
I think that symbol is supposed to represent the "undoing" of the Foundation: the opposite of containing, which is releasing everything contained, hence the arrows pointing outwards. ...As Lexic apparently already pointed out.
Maybe the flint & steel should be a lighter, in keeping with the modern/sciency theme.
Maybe the flint & steel should be a lighter, in keeping with the modern/sciency theme.
Bunsen burner. do it for science
Fire charge should be a miniature sun.
Ice better be goddamn red. And the server is down yet again. awrhgage.
Bunsen burner. do it for science
I think the brewing stands are already like Bunsen burners, and besides, don't they have to be connected to a fuel source?
Ice better be goddamn red. And the server is down yet again. awrhgage.
...Red ice?
...Red ice?
009
also, waffles, if you need any help texturing or want me to do anything I can help you with some Add me on steam
I kind of really want to try this server out. Although I'm afraid I would fuck up and be terminated.
Apparently it's been down for a while now though???
Yep, some fuck's went and DDoS'd the server.
Be only as accurate and precise as source material allows. Did anyone say it was a distributed attack? DoS is the most accurate definition until further evidence is received. Science.
Is there anyway to find out who keeps doing it? Maybe it was that guy that griefed the server not to long ago.
Someone is currently DDoSing the guy who hosts us (nothing to do with our lil server) with a SYN flood, which basically wipes out all TCP connections going in and out of the machine. Since minecraft uses TCP because Notch is a poopyhead, no more minecraft. He has very kindly given me access to another un-ddosed (atm) machine over in America, so we'll be moving to there very soon. Sorry for the delay :c
Since minecraft uses TCP because Notch is a poopyhead, no more minecraft.
I believe he tried to use UDP but ended up attempting to implement TCP over UDP and concluded it was too slow In other words, it's because Notch hasn't a clue of how networking works
Notch is a terrible programmer all round to be honest. He's only managed to get away with it because he's a creative genius with very sound business sense and great productivity. If anyone was wondering incidentally; the BSoDs were apparently some daemon on the host which objected spectacularly to losing it's ability to talk. The DDoS was going unnoticed because the skid is only buying short scattered bursts on whatever botnet he's got access to, meaning that it'd stopped by the time the server came back online. Fun Fun.
When it stops being attacked, will we move back to the old server? American servers tend to be laggy for those of us who live in Europe.
When it stops being attacked, will we move back to the old server? American servers tend to be laggy for those of us who live in Europe.
As a European I'm not particularly thrilled about the move myself, but since as far as I know there are far more US players than EU ones. It seems fairer to cater to their needs than the 3-4 of us.
Oh, that reminds me- Can you make backups of the world on a dropbox as well as your computer?
I don't have regular full world backups local or otherwise. The combined filesize of all the worlds is 700mb compressed, and that's not a particularly fun filesize to do networky things with.
Can you help me connect? I'm suddenly having problems, I was able to connect last time I tried.
Waffles, are the XP orbs meant to be Kondraki's butterflies?
