Do we know that though? It could have been during/after the events of HL2 that Chell woke up. Our only connection to the outside world is the parking lot, and it's possible that Aperture Labs remained hidden for some time after the Combine invasion.

I believe Chell has been kept in stasis for a long freakin' time. Maybe that calendar is there just to tell us when everybody left the corporation or building.

But to people who think or may think chell is an android because at the end of the chamber full of turrets GLaDOS says: well done android
However, at the start GLaDOS mentions the chamber is designed for military androids
meaning that the response for an android completing the chamber wasnt changed

I don't think this is the case, mainly because I think the portal gun is mostly for portal-making, not gravity-gunning. Those three claws seem to relate to anti-gravity manipulation, with only the centre acting as the pulse that flings stuff. In the portal gun the centre seems to be taken up entirely by the portal-firing mechanism.
Also, all Mossman says about the gravity gun is that it's "not a toy". That's literally her only line in reference to it. There's nothing in there to suggest that the rebels didn't build it, especially since they managed to build a functioning teleportation system out of scrap metal.
Well I almost have the BBS connection working. I just connected and saw the glados login prompt, but I couldn't type anything and my window was being flooded with random data.
