Maybe Glados got this sentence implanted in the early developements of her AI, and if this true maybe the loading bar is Glados's old memory being transferd to a new hardrive or memory core? If I recall correctly though the heel springs were more than just fancy kit and were actually advanced knee replacements. Still, you might be right since looking at the blurrified image it seems she might have the white part of them attached to her leg still and just be missing the curved metal bit.

Well, falling from such a high area could of broken those heel springs.
So in Portal 2 you also have to beware falling damage.
