The Elder Scrolls Megathread V. why the fuck hasn't anyone else made this?

Shivering Isles was possibly Bethesda's best expansion.
First thing that comes to mind for every single armour in oblivion (except dwarven, that was cool)
'what were they thinking?'
Blades Armor?
Blades Armor?
I do like the eastern influence on the blades armor. Its seems so unique compared to the other armors.
fuck, I forgot how eye rapingly loud oblivion's colour scheme was
I liked Mithril...
[editline]dicks[/editline]
Chainmail, Orcish and Ebony were all good, too, minus the helmets.
[editline]dicks2[/editline]
Iron also looked fine, it was just boring.
I always liked the Madness Armor if not for its uninspired name.

The amber armour was alright too iirc. In fact most of the shivering isles apparel was really good. Probably because todd's 2 year old son was busy at that point writing the endings for fallout 3

The Amber Armor was pretty much a orange version of the Elven Armor.
If we're talking about good looking armor from Oblivion, let's not forget the Crusader's Relics.

One of the worst things about oblivion#s armour was that it was almost all open helms. I don't think it was because the beast races needed to wear them as well (which is a choice I respect btw), it's probably because todd's retarded niece wanted to show that she had designed and animated faces for every character in the game.
i think the problem with oblivions armor design was that they tried too hard to deviate from actual irl armor. When the best looking armors have the most resemblance to legit medieval armor.

Steel is the closest to real medieval armor, and it's pretty much the ugliest.

Considering that the whole KOTN expansion was you getting those relics, it'd be shite if they turned out ugly.
[editline]26th March 2013[/editline]
oh, and todd's imaginary friend? yep, he did the diagonal running animations

Well, I disagree with your disagreement,
Iron Armor is the closest to medieval armor, and it looks the best, IMO.

Nah, I think in Morrowind, Steel beats Iron.

Iron armor is good, but that's definitely fantasy armor, steel is the closest thing to real medieval armor.
[IMG_thumb]http://www.medieval-weaponry.co.uk/acatalog/AB0063-1000.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Technically, that is 15th century... I just grabbed it because of how much it looked like steel armor, so have this for a better example.

the shape of oblivion steel armor is just so odd
like a potato
Oblivion's Ebony armor is pretty realistic, but the color's a little odd.
Thankfully, Brusef Amelion's armor fixes that.

I don't think so. Iron would look a lot like armor sets like this, if it was cleaner. Steel looks like something that would be on display, as, Iron looks like actual fighting armor.

That's what most (full) plate armors look like, which is what they were going for I guess. Milanese armors and such

Most of those are 15/1600's plate armor, late Renaissance, not medieval plate armor.
[sp]Ildari[/sp] knows. now an ash minion caravan follows behind you very sneaky, and whenever you enter severin manor they extract their very timid revenge by whipping out another set from their mobile chitin wardrobe and throwing it into your pocket
all while being very sneaky of course
That explains how I'm halfway through the manor and THEN I get the chitin heavy shit.
Also, help me.
Help.
Neloth won't give me quests other than heart stones and finding Azra's staff. I've killed [sp]Ildari[/sp] but he won't give me the one to find the Wind and Sand book or the Telvanni Research quest.
Is there a necessary level or skill level or something?
His armor as well, that style of the Barbute wasn't even around intill the 15th century. The one in my picture is about 1350ish. So I figured the armor would be as well.
Nope, not sure what's with that image. In 1350 plate armor was still in a largely transitional phase and there wasn't really such a thing as cheap munitions plate... as such bits of plate armor (or brigadines) were generally just worn over chainmail, and chainmail was still the main competent of the armor with the plate armor just being an addition.
It's not until 1500+ that you start seeing soliders and mercenaries rocking plate armor without any mail underneath. Between 1300-1400 large pieces of plate armor were just too fragile and expensive to bother wearing alone and it's not until the Renaissance that munitions plate is cheap enough for a soldier to outfit himself with plate only.
Anyways though it doesn't matter, in the TES universe plate armor grows on trees, so all that is thrown out the window anyways.
Gentlemen, I think when it comes to armor design we can all agree that no one can beat Henry the VIII.

Look at that menacingly bulging crotch designed to intimidate his foes into submission.

Yeah facing someone with that armor, two words come to mind: Target Practice :v:

Nonsense, Landsknecht plate armor design is undoubtedly the pimpest design of all time

Spanish Habsburg armor is iconic. It's unprovable but I'd like to think it's where our early conceptions of fictional evil empires are derived. The whole family and nobless wore black, gold gilt armor.
