The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim "And your beard's beard has beards too"

I think SI was a bit of a "reparation" for the disappointed Morrowind fans. Dementia really does look a lot like Morrowind.
To some extent, cyrodil is supposed to be one of the "boring provinces," but it lacked the level of scale that TES: I & II had, so it feels to me like Cyrodil fell short a bit.. not as interesting as Morrowind, and not as large as Daggerfall.
Just think though, a Nordic land? How awesome will that be when fleshed out?
I have no doubt that Skyrim's landscape will be very impressive. What I've seen in the trailer looks about right for 4 years worth of Daggerfall and Morrowind fan bitching, I think Bethesda may have gotten the point :v:
Okay, so I walk outside during the winter, looking at the vast mountains. This is Norway. I take a picture of it with my cellphone, only to realize I can't put it over to my PC yet. I will upload it to this thread when I charge my phone. Because Bethesda's version of Skyrim and how Norway looks in real life are almost identical. They are doing a fucking amazing job, and I can't look at the Norwegian mountains anymore without going "I can't wait to slay some fucking dragons in those mountains"
And this is just based on the first gameplay trailer.
Firth thing I will do when I start the game is run naked into the snow

Just in time for my new pc :v:
Probably the best description one can give to any installment of TES. Each one had their fair share of flaws, some obvious, some not, and others that were entirely subjective, but each one was also good enough that each game has their own dedicated and active fanbase (you think people hating Oblivion for not being enough like Morrowind was bad? Wait 'till you hear about the people who hated Morrowind for not being enough like Daggerfall!).
Actually I just dislike Oblivion because it was an all around poor game, mediocre at best, terrible often, wasn't worthy of being a TES game.
How many times did you guys fap to Skyrim trailer yet?
Anyone hoping that Skyrim looks like the Misty Mountains in LotRs?
Firth thing I will do when I start the game is run naked into the snow
I will become MORGOTH: The slayer of rats until I reach level 2.
You know what absolutely needs to be in Skyrim?
Like, parallax mapped footstep decals in the thick snow, and a satisfying crunching sound with every step you take.

Oh and roleplaying.
I think all that crafting and woodcutting stuff is primarily an RP feature.
I think all that crafting and woodcutting stuff is primarily an RP feature.
LARPing more like.
LARPing more like.
The same could be said about your regular definition of roleplay.
I would like to see more character creation stuff. daggerfall had a great custom class setup.. you could set up specific attribute bonuses for your class, and you could give your character advantages/disadvantages; such as expertise in certain weapons, a faster HP regen, and for disadvantages you could forbid certain weapon materials, or you could give yourself damage from being in holy places, etc. Depending on the volume of advantages/disadvantages, your skills would level up faster or slower.
Normally I have no problem with people spouting off bullshit, but Riutet, you need to shut the fuck up or start saying something new. Your opinion of Oblivion, or anything else is just that. Juts nitpick less, seriously.

Todd doesn't like numbers or complexity. :(
Just jumping out on a limb, but I'd guess Riutet is one of those "This is TES" Morrowind fans. Just as bad as people who think Oblivion is the only TES game, ever. There's always going to be people who are fuckign disppointed.
There were Arena fans who were disappointed with daggerfall because it was only two provinces. There were Daggerfall fans greatly disappointed by Morrowind because it was almost completely different, there were Morrowind fans disappointed with Oblivion, and I'm sure there'll be Oblivion fans disappointed with Skyrim. All of them are good games, and I'm sure Skyrim is going to be great.

Numbers or complexity doesn't make a good RPG, you can have a good and intricate and varied RPG without them.
Normally I have no problem with people spouting off bullshit
Just so long as their bullshit corroborates with your opinions right?
but Riutet, you need to shut the fuck up or start saying something new.
I say a lot of new things all the time, you've been in some of the threads I've been posting in right? Was I complaining about LARPing in those? :smug:
Your opinion of Oblivion, or anything else is just that.
Are you saying that Oblivion is anything more than a 5/10 game with no real redeeming features that requires mods just to reach a non-herp state? Because if you are then it looks like you are in fact the one spouting bullshit.
Juts nitpick less, seriously.
I'm not nitpicking, I've pointed out a few of the many critical flaws that Oblivion has and put briefly without wasting too much of my time, why I think it is a bad game. If I were nit-picking I'd be complaining about the leaves in the trees noticeably turning based on your perspective, AKA, a non-issue.
See? You just said oblivion is a factually bad game? Why would I bother wasting my time arguing that with someone who's got their head up their ass far enough to think they know objective truths?
Frankly, I put so many hours into that game on various different systems, and I've had a blast every time. I don't see how your opinion of that, lessens my enjoyment.
[editline]21st March 2011[/editline]
Oh, and I really don't give a fuck if anyone agrees with me or not, it's just annoying to see half a page be you almost trolling or acting like you're objectively right, it's just not good reading.
Just jumping out on a limb, but I'd guess Riutet is one of those "This is TES" Morrowind fans.
Not at all, Oblivion is just a bad game.

But Oblivion was a genuinely bad game, you've played it right? I mean come on. You have haven't you?
Numbers or complexity doesn't make a good RPG, you can have a good and intricate and varied RPG without them.
Wasn't concerned with numbers, was concerned with variety and choice, numbers usually go hand in hand with that.

I don't like this game so no one else should like it.
See? You just said oblivion is a factually bad game? Why would I bother wasting my time arguing that with someone who's got their head up their ass far enough to think they know objective truths?
It is a factually bad game, an objectively bad game, broken and dysfunctional in every way imaginable.
Frankly, I put so many hours into that game on various different systems, and I've had a blast every time. I don't see how your opinion of that, lessens my enjoyment.
For someone who is complaining about a lack of objectivity, you sure do like to jump to arguing subjectivity.

I'm not even trolling, it's the truth, it's a poor game. But I don't want to derail this thread and go on about Oblivion anymore, it's a turd and it's doing what turds do, shitting up the place, can we please not argue about it and instead concentrate on Skyrim?

Putting words in my mouth bro.
I didn't say that it's a game you can't enjoy, I played it myself for a long while and found some enjoyment in exploring. I'm just saying that objectively it's a very poor game.
But Oblivion was a genuinely bad game, you've played it right? I mean come on. You have haven't you?
Oblivion is a predominantly good game with a few bad aspects. On top of that I played it in 2009, ahd I played it in 2006 I think I would have been far more impressed.
Wasn't concerned with numbers, was concerned with variety and choice, numbers usually go hand in hand with that.
No, they don't.
Numbers are an arbitrary and literal interpretation of character stats. Even if it doesn't *show* you numbers, every game ever made has numbers representing everything, the only difference is most RPGs show you the numbers.. though when you think about it that doesn't make much sense either.
bare bones number-representative stats are a relic lelf over from the days of on-paper RPG games, we can represent numbers in an abstract visual form today, so there's no need to have strictly number-based stats when you can represent the same thing with more complexity through game mechanics.
LARPing more like.
I don't see how a videogame can be live action roleplay

The only thing that exists is subjectivity. We don't have the ability to say something is objectively bad like you have, because that's not fucking true and it's merely your opinion.
I don't fucking care what you say. You argue as if you know a "fact". you don't. You're like the Strider* of ITN, but for general games discussion.
