Stop questioning it. Of course it'll have beards, anything else would be silly
There must be beards. There's a clan in the game called the Greybeards!
"Why don't you have beards, I thought you were called Greybeards?!" :aaaaa: "We shaved lol" And then you would meet M'aiq the Liar, going "M'aiq doesn't like beards. It's just in the way." or something like that. [sp]M'aiq talks about stuff that the community wanted in the game, but that didn't make it for some reason.[/sp]
Y'know, if all the cities are open like in Morrowind, then I really hope that all those cool Alteration spells like Levitation, Slowfall, Jump, and all that awesome jazz, are in Skyrim. I wanna use Levitate with fire magic and fight like a dragon!

But I want these spells too.
Aye, me too. Flyyyyyyin', flyyyyin' in the skyyyyyy! Cliff racer flyyyyy sooooo hiiiiiigh! Flyyyyyin'... -Aldos Othran
No spears, no beards, no awesome armor. Final destination. This is a game about god damn vikings, why can't they throw in beards? They did it with Fallout, why can't they do it with a homemade engine.

I only heard someone here say there won't be beards and suddenly you all took is as a fact.
I'll only be playing this game for its wide selection of chin-located hair. It's the number one selling point for me.
That dragon part is making me nervous... I can't help but feel it will become a new cliff racer.
That dragon part is making me nervous... I can't help but feel it will become a new cliff racer.
I highly doubt you'd be swarmed by Dragons like you were with Cliffracers, but that interview DID say that they want Dragons to be the thing players will fear most.
That's what I mean
I hope that "fear" won't be just "Oh no I'll die!" though. I'd like something like "Shit a dragon!" long epic battle, you are hurt, there are no insta-heal potions, so you are crawling down the road and your hope comes back when you see a small village. You get in the middle, an awesome AI interacts with it, grabs your character and help you walk to the Doctor. You see that you are being dragged on some kind of operation table, your screen fades black. Seconds later you wake up, Doctor makes a 'lil check with you, if you lost any skills and stuff. You are stable, but you take easier damage for the next couple of days, so carefully you make your way to the peope that saved you, and thank them, maybe giving them a bit money or others. So now you know there is a Dragon there, and he can wipe out anybody in the area. You visit the Fighters and Mages guild, to buy yourself a little backup, or just command them if you are someone important, and so you marsh with your party of warriors and mages, providing attack power and first help through magic, deep into the cave, the Dragons lair, in which you've had so unfortunate experience last time. After a long, challenging battle you count the hopefully small number of lost comrades, heal the one's with broken limbs on place to drag them to a safe place and get healthy, and give the pay, or just thank them for fulfilling their duty (as said, if you are their boss), and yet maybe rewarding them. Yeah... that's how the RPG of my dreams would be... :sigh: I hope something like this will come out in my lifetime...
Move to Japan, I hear they share your vision.
Are you fucking stupid? Them Japs're flat!
If cliff racers aren't in Skyrim I hope someone will mod them in just for hilarity's sake.
Dwarf Fortress adv mode is the closest you'll get to that, and it's still being developed.
Man I was gonna say that. But in DF it's more like "OH shit! But they are more like underground racers.

People would either be like "This is so immersive it's great!" or "This is too complicated it's shit". There won't be any in-between for that kind of game. But I'm hoping the fear of Dragons is less like "Oh Shit I'm going to die" and more like "Oh Shit I hope it doesn't/didn't raze the village I was going to and thereby cause me to lose any quests that start/take place there!". I mean, I think it would be kinda neat (but also kinda dick) if you had a quest that took you to some remote village, only to see it was completely destroyed by dragons, so your quest ends up failing (or you have to find some other way to complete it, like looking through the rubble for information pertaining to the quest).

Every second of every day you spend in that game is like that. Sleep alone, Get raped by bogeymen. Venture into cave, get ruthlessly murdered by jabberers. (dont know what jabberers are? Imagine the bipedal flightless bird of your worst nightmare, the jabberer is worse.) Venture into lost fortress, possibly gain awesome adamantine, but more possibly you will get bum-rushed by 12 foot tall ogres. Every single second of every single day you are in danger.
People expect a realistic beard simulator from Skyrim. And so do I.

Does DF have moments where you arrive at a quest-important area to find it razed to the ground, and it's NOT a scripted event?

If only the dragon fights could be as epic as Beowulf's. Even a mortal who has almost achieved godlike strength still struggles (and fails, but he's old) to take down these beasts.

Does DF have moments where you arrive at a quest-important area to find it razed to the ground, and it's NOT a scripted event?
There's technically no quests. The most the quests get is 'kill this fucker, he's a bandit/killed some people/is an eldritch abomination'. However, things can get complicated. I remember one time, when I got a quest to kill a demon. I headed out to find a town right on top of the demon's lair. When I found it and fought, the entire town actually attacked ME. Turns out, it had escaped from hell and made the resident humans believe it was a deity. Having gained favor, the demon became an active monarch for the small town, and here I was, trying to assassinate it. Keep in mind: there was NO rigid scripting involved, the town and game world had evolved like this NATURALLY.

I went to the area in Adventure and found that the elephant demon was in the deepest reaches of the fortress (the worshipers were non hostile) with his legs missing. What I Garnered from this is that the elephant Demon lost his legs in the battle and was carried off into the reaches of the abandoned fortress to be worshiped as some sort of motionless, retching buhhda in stasis. You can ask any DF adventurer who has played the recent versions extensively. For example, I was tasked to get rid of a hydra so I go to it's cave, after ten minutes of searching I gave up. I went back to the town and Lo! the Hydra was standing over the corpses of the ENTIRE TOWN.
