So I'm trying to replay oblivion and first I get [img_thumb]http://gyazo.com/fd699a44e7580f96b83ba96982af061f.png[/img_thumb] yet with an older graphics card I got Super High or whatever, I try to launch it after setting it to the highest setting and I hear it for half a second and then it crashes, when I try the lowest it instantly crashes, I just did a fresh install too!
delete oblivion.ini in documents/my games/oblivion
be a Caveman, grow a beard. be the best fighter in the cave, once you're able to jump back, return to the world :V
Welp, best start jumping in place then.

Then, you will be ready for your destiny. [editline]dasdads[/editline] As a world-class high-jumper.
My favorite quest on Oblivion overall was the "Clue" themed mission. Where you had to go in the house and kill everyone or pit them against each other.
The Tranquility Lane quest in Fallout 3 really reminded me of that one, especially the one where you had to boobytrap the lady's house.
"And so the young froztshock began his rigorous training regime to escape from the cave, hopping down the hallways for what seemed like an eternity to his starved and feeble mind, slaying any enemies that may stand in his way. One day our young warrior was taking the jump towards the mouth of the cave, and to his amazement, made this jump he had been training for for what seemed like a millennia, what awaits our young warrior is a mystery to us all..." Just kidding it's actually a bunch of guards saying "HALT" until the sun fucking explodes.
When is the Collectors edition going to be available for preorder? Or do they wait until the game is released?
The Tranquility Lane quest in Fallout 3 really reminded me of that one, especially the one where you had to boobytrap the lady's house.
I liked the idea of those two quests, but the execution was bloody terrible. D:
Currently I'm stuck in a dungeon because I can't make the jump to get back to the exit.
You talking about The necromancer place? You need to climb out. There's also a "trap" coffin that leads knowhere and fucks you over. I have two saves per character and always save one outside of the dungeon [editline]4th April 2011[/editline]
I liked the idea of those two quests, but the execution was bloody terrible. D:
It wasn't bloody terrible per say, but it could have been better. Or moreover it would have been a way better experience had it been constructed better. That said they are fun missions.
Is there much information about using bows or crossbows? I know it sounds stupid, but I really want to role play as a medieval marksman, roaming the land and stalking my prey.
What a dumb question, GET IT NOW!
It's hard to decide when you have misplaced a free copy of it not too long ago.
I was just Googling to get some info.
Well seeing as the game will be cross platform, system requirements shouldn't be too high. Looking at the visuals in the GI magazine, the visuals don't look to stressful. The models are higher poly, with much higher resolution textures. Shading is still mostly normal shading, though I can see plenty of projected shadows. Grass and trees seems higher poly. Though there isn't much atmospheric rendering going on (wind effects, glare, particles, etc). Though if the AI system is expanded, that may make for more CPU processing. Really, we can only speculate.

Symphonic mentioned Todd Howards talk about the wind effects and what not and you mentioned the increased AI dynamics, but I'm very curious about how all that will end up affecting the requirements.

As a point of reference, the Xbox 360 uses 7800GT (or was it GTX?). If you have the equivalent or better you should be fine (able to run the game on maybe medium).

If you can run Oblivion on maxed settings you should have no problems running this game. Infact with the new engine they should have more experience to better optimize their new engine to look much more amazing while taking less weight on system requirements. But this is assuming they give a crap about the PC gaming community. Take a look at Gothic 4's system reqs. Add a couple more gigs of RAM to it. And a better graphics card. And you've got Skyrim's system requirements if they do a poor job.

Also, it being a new engine has nothing to do with the system requirements. They can rewrite game engines. They aren't static or confined to certain system requirements. More significant is that it will run on the Xbox 360 and PS3, making it likely (thankfully in my opinion) that the system requirements will be sane for the PC version.

My favorite quest on Oblivion overall was the "Clue" themed mission. Where you had to go in the house and kill everyone or pit them against each other.
That didn't quite work for me. I killed one person, the next walked in and laid down. I killed them. Another walks in. The same thing happens a couple more times (a couple of them in a different bedroom).
There's this wierd engraving on this wierd tomb/dome thing that you're supposed to look at.
Woah, I feel like such a fool, thank you guys!
I was just Googling to get some info.
About half of those are correct but the others are just wrong. Meeting or exceeding the xbox specs means nothing. The game can be perfectly optimzied to run on the xbox 360 hardware because all xbox 360s only have one set of hardware, wheras PCs can have millions of possible hardware configurations. The truth is, the new engine needs to meet the same specifications for the consoles as oblivion did, and this is a newly programmed engine; meaning it's probably "clean," optimized, and efficient. If well optimized, Skyrim should run as well, or even better than Oblivion. Just in terms of Polycount and Texture Resolution the game is probably only marginally "better" than Oblivion in that regard, I think this time they just made better use of the assets they had on hand, which is why Skyrim looks good, that and they've been able to utilize advancements in animation and physics technology. They just did a better job from the design aspect. So with that in mind I don't think the new game will be very taxing. The jump between Morrowind and Oblivion was huge, as Morrowind needed to be built to run on the Xbox, and Oblivion needed to be built to run on the xbox 360, which had roughly 3-4x the graphical capabilities; ergo if you could barely run Morrowind, you wouldn't have been able to run Oblivion on the same hardware. This is not the case with Skyrim, it's got a new (presumably GOOD) game engine, and the game needs to be able to run on the same xbox 360 hardware. I'm sure any PC that can run Oblivion should be able to run Skyrim acceptably.

It took a lot of jumping, and plenty of resting, but eventually I cleared that pit and fought my way out. As soon as I went to fast travel I got the plot letter and went to talk to that lady in the tavern.
this isn't even my character, I just came across this naked guy fighting a snow leopard the snow leopard won, fucking mac os
Mac Porn?
Currently I'm stuck in a dungeon because I can't make the jump to get back to the exit.
have you tried climbing?
have you tried climbing?

I made it! I actually made it!
That didn't quite work for me. I killed one person, the next walked in and laid down. I killed them. Another walks in. It's possible to just slaughter everyone, it's not the game's fault for allowing you to.
and yeah I tried, but the place that I needed to climb up was a big pillar with a floor on top that looked something like a mushroom cap.
They don't usually trap you in dungeons. I thought I was trapped once, but often theres a hidden door or something annoying like that that will take you out. Search for hidden doors on the dungeon map.
you've got to enjoy where these guy's pop up sometimes, luckily the door was locked so all he could do was stare at me through the gap
