That's why he was the best character. [sp]He also had a unique head mesh[/sp]
you could have beards well there was a slider and it didn't even look like stubble :colbert:
I love how the "Beard" slider in Oblivion also changed the tone of your entire body. There was honestly no point in using the "Skin tone" sliders in general, unless you wanted your character looking like it has some kind of horrible skin disease.
I hope Argonians are big burly things in Skyrim.

Wow. Is anyone else dissapointed by the "18" skills? Fuck this, I want Morrowind's 50 odd skills back. Bethesda, WHY do you flatten role playing complex skill sets.
Morrowind had 27 skills...
Oh. Well, regardless there's still about 40% less skills than Morrowind if you want to be precise. they seem to cut a lot out of the gameplay experience for me when everything is generalized. Atleast in comparison between Morrowind and Oblivion. That's all i'm saying. I'd hate to see the things that I felt Oblivion did poorly be even worse in Skyrim.
Some of the changes make sense [like removing mysticism] and some don't, like removing individual categories for weapons [like the old short blade, long blade, etc.]
Some of the changes make sense [like removing mysticism] and some don't, like removing individual categories for weapons [like the old short blade, long blade, etc.]
I agree with this. Some of the skills weren't really needed and could stand to be removed, but I think the individual skills for the different weapon types should've stayed.
Someone will mod them back in I assume, that was possible in the Oblivion engine right?
I agree with this. Some of the skills weren't really needed and could stand to be removed, but I think the individual skills for the different weapon types should've stayed.
I don't. Have you heard of thier new weapon system? Personally the new system makes much more sense from a logical standpoint, and also has the added benefit of allowing a theoretical infinite number of weapon types without needing 50 different arbitrary skills for 50 different weapon types, just to affect a base modifier. I.E., now it's just one handed weapons (faster/lighter weaponry) and two handed (heavy class weaponry). It sounds bad at first glance until you realize that the real depth comes in with the new perk system you get at every level. Every level up earns you a perk, which you spend on skills (not like fallout where they are overall perks). Use daggers alot? Instead of having a seperate dagger skill (who says someone who's good with a dagger would do terrible damage with a sharp hatchet anyways?), you now pick dagger perks that enhance your dagger abilities. Use halberds a lot? Well, pick the perks that give you boosted halberd abilities (which obviously are dependant on your level and your overall skill with that weapon class, so you can't unlock a high end halberd perk unless you have a high enough two handed skill). IMO that sounds much deeper than the old system. Overall general damage is determined by the base skill, while enhanced abilities, moves, and effects that work with individual weapon types are determined by the perks you earn at each level. The only downside is they have to implement a good variety of perks that aren't all dumb. If the perks are too few or too useless, then the system has little depth. If the perks are deep and varied, then I think it has much more depth than Oblivion or even Morrowind, and is much more intuitive.
I'm just looking forward to archery, I love being an archer, but you eventually became a demigod and were able to kill stuff in 2-3 shots :sigh:
I want unique death animations this time around, not just insta-ragdoll. I want to be able to hit someone in the neck with an arrow then have them grasp at it and die.

Arrows were too weak in Oblivion. I wish it'd just take longer to prime your shots. it's simply too fast in Oblivion/MW. No seriously though, I you can behead people, I'd like it if you'd lop their head off, and their headless body would just slowly tip over and crash to the ground. Would be hilarious.
I don't want them to instantly charge at you when engaging in combat, either. I think it would rock if they kind of did a double take, then fluidly attacked you instead of drawing their weapons and charging at you [editline]15th February 2011[/editline]
Whaaat? *There are more activities offered in towns (forge work, alchemy, enchantment, farming, mining, woodcutting, cooking, etc) SOLD
I'd like it if fame/infamy was actually effective this time around, so enemies would run away and try to join groups as soon as they see you if you have a high fame/infamy. Or some enemies just flat out running away out of the map.

Shots should take longer to prime but they should do lots of damage and cause lots of bleeding.
It just made your chin black
Everyone in Oblivion was horribly ugly. Guy, where is your avatar from.
shots should be able to be rapid(ish) fire, but the damage should be based off where you have the bowstring pulled to at the time.
shots should be able to be rapid(ish) fire, but the damage should be based off where you have the bowstring pulled to at the time.
Using a bow at short range is just plain stupid, that's the only time you'd ever need to pull it less than the full length and nobody would ever do that.
I wish it was set up so that you had your bow, but a quick dagger feature. Not just a hotkey, but where you could press a button and it would fluidly switch to a dagger
You could hotkey any item or spell you have in your inventory in oblivion. I doubt they would remove that. Edit: As in you already have that quick dagger button.
I want to be able to cut people's arms off so they drop their weapon, and are forced to use their other hand. Also cutting creature's legs so they lump around helplessly.
Using a bow at short range is just plain stupid, that's the only time you'd ever need to pull it less than the full length and nobody would ever do that.
its nice to have a choice. if your fighting 10 goblins with like 1/2 the health of a bull drawn bowshot, i should be able to take each down with a half drawn shot. many other situations where its usefull too. your just a stupid person if you say that wouldnt be a fun thing to have.
By the time you had made 1,5 half drawn shots the goblins would have sticked a long dagger up your ass.
its nice to have a choice. if your fighting 10 goblins with like 1/2 the health of a bull drawn bowshot, i should be able to take each down with a half drawn shot. many other situations where its usefull too. your just a stupid person if you say that wouldnt be a fun thing to have.
No, backpedaling, firing hundreds of arrows into your bullet sponge enemy who is right in your face is not fun and the idea behind it is retarded. marksman is a ranged skill and ideally shots should be powerful enough so you can avoid close range combat, if somebody is right point blank then you should need to switch to your sword. Hell if people are slashing or clubbing you, you shouldn't even be able to draw arrows, it just makes no sense at all. In Oblivion as a marksman I spend more time backpeddling than I spend moving forward. [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] I hope the thieving opportunities in skyrim are as good as Morrowind. I'm playing a Hlaalu person and I just robbed the fuck out of two manors in the Aldruhn Redoran palace. I pawned off 1800 gold worth of extravagant and exquisite clothing. Most stuff inside any given house in Oblivion was worthless :saddowns: Fine clothing in oblivion was still dirt cheap, kind of stupid if you think about it. A handmade silk brocade doublet back in the day would have cost an arm and a leg.
i like how you quote me then type a paragraph that i agree with that has nothing to do with what i just said. goddamnit.
Grow up Mattk, a box doesn't validate your opinion.
in real life people could fire arrows very quickly, it doesnt mean they did because better aim was more important. we need to copy the real like archery mechanics into the game (with damage being based on how far the string is pulled), thats what im saying dumbass.
