i like how you quote me then type a paragraph that i agree with that has nothing to do with what i just said. goddamnit.
"Half shots" doesn't make sense. The tensile poundage of a bow increases at a compounding rate. You either pull the string all the way back and do serious damage, or you pull it half way back and the arrow does fuck all.
Marksman needs to be geared for medium-long range and medium-long range only. There shouldn't be these unrealistic and unbalanced compromises so you can use marksman at close range. Benifits should = Long range, lots of damage, downside should = useless at close range. if such a thing were to apply (as it should) then I don't see why you'd have need for these fruity "half pull shots" that no marksman in the right mind would do.
fine then, should have said that instead of spamming bullshit
i didnt mean half way back either, i meant half power for slightly less. i know a half draw would do nothing
Okay boss.
I hear the GameReactor magazine showed a new screenshot. Was it posted here already or have we yet to get it?
fucking automerge
Here's a shit version of it
its nice to have a choice. if your fighting 10 goblins with like 1/2 the health of a bull drawn bowshot, i should be able to take each down with a half drawn shot. many other situations where its usefull too. your just a stupid person if you say that wouldnt be a fun thing to have.
I think you might be confusing fun with useful. It's no more fun to shoot a bow fast than it is to shoot a bow at all. Especially when there is no real reward other than experience. In a game you push a button. It's only rewarding if it were real life. I however do support the option as it does make sense. If you can rapid fire in real life and lose the benefit of a powerful long ranged shot, then why not in video games? It's not hard and it barely effects gameplay. It'd most likely also effect the accuracy of said shot as you're not taking the time to aim.
Reminds me of Legolas jumping around owning orcs with his bow.
I really hope that when youre a famous enchancement guy, random people come up to you and offer you money to enhance their weapons.
Would be so fun, to give a NPC a ring that drains his Stamina till he passes out and then receiving money for it, then to rob him of all his stuff too while he is down.

Assuming they are dumb enough to not notice the effects. I support this feature except for the possibility of it getting real annoying real quick.
"Hey can you enchant my dagger?"
"Hey can you enchant my helm?"
"Hey can you enchant my chestplate?"
"Hey can you ench-" FUCK YOU!!
It should only be a town thing, and possibly only around the trading district (assuming there is a location dedicated specifically to trade).
I want to be able to cut people's arms off so they drop their weapon, and are forced to use their other hand.
Also cutting creature's legs so they lump around helplessly.
I dont think most people can fight when their entire other arm is lopped off.

Would be so cool if you could have own store where people would get in and buy stuff and services from you. But that will not happen.

Looks like a painting, but is it just the poor quality?
Anyways, i do hope the game has that awesome landscape.

Continueing the theme of archery and stealth, perhaps the ability to climb trees would be a worthwile addition. Good for remaining undetected/ambushing enemies etc

That's actually a very attractive idea. But make it take a bit of time so that it's not used as a quick escape from any fight.

And the better agility you have the faster you can climb the tree. And also some enemies have the ability to climb far faster than you so you can't "camp" up a tree gaining sack-loads of XP

If you are not meaning "half way back", but you are aiming towards "half power", what do you mean exactly?
I've had archery as a hobby for over 5 years and I've tried everything from compound to the japanese yumi.
And the better agility you have the faster you can climb the tree. And also some enemies have the ability to climb far faster than you so you can't "camp" up a tree gaining sack-loads of XP
Cept there's no more Agility (Attributes are axed entirely, actually).
And they said they took out acrobatics (but they might still have athletics in and just lump "acrobatic" stuff into athetics. Makes sense if you think about it since they are essentually the same thing).
I hated having acrobatics as a major skill in oblivion. You had to hop around like a kangaroo if you wanted to increase it
And the better agility you have the faster you can climb the tree. And also some enemies have the ability to climb far faster than you so you can't "camp" up a tree gaining sack-loads of XP
I think strength and your weight + equipment (both equipped and in inventory) should also factor in, along with whatever agility and acrobatics/athletics are called now.
I spent about 110 hours on the 360 verison of Oblivion and another 80+ on the PC version so I cannot wait to dive into Skyrim...
That being said, I hope they post more screenshots of the human faces.. Oblivion ones look HORRID. EVE Character Creator + Skyrim = Nerdgasm
You could hotkey any item or spell you have in your inventory in oblivion.
I doubt they would remove that.
Edit:
As in you already have that quick dagger button.
I know, but it was super immersion breaking to do that. I'd rahter them have it in game as an actual feature.
No, backpedaling, firing hundreds of arrows into your bullet sponge enemy who is right in your face is not fun and the idea behind it is retarded. marksman is a ranged skill and ideally shots should be powerful enough so you can avoid close range combat, if somebody is right point blank then you should need to switch to your sword. Hell if people are slashing or clubbing you, you shouldn't even be able to draw arrows, it just makes no sense at all. In Oblivion as a marksman I spend more time backpeddling than I spend moving forward.

I hope the thieving opportunities in skyrim are as good as Morrowind. I'm playing a Hlaalu person and I just robbed the fuck out of two manors in the Aldruhn Redoran palace. I pawned off 1800 gold worth of extravagant and exquisite clothing.
Most stuff inside any given house in Oblivion was worthless :saddowns: Fine clothing in oblivion was still dirt cheap, kind of stupid if you think about it. A handmade silk brocade doublet back in the day would have cost an arm and a leg.
I remember that exquisite pants in Morrowind were a good 200 gold.

yes, that's the part of oblivion that broke the immersion
not the fact that NPCs stare soullessly into your eyes as time freezes around you, not that enemies were damage sponges that you would wave your weapon in front of until they flobbered to the ground into unnatural positions because of the shitty ragdolls
it wasn't this

no, it was the quick select
you should be a game designer
I have never bought a Elder Scrolls game, because personally I hate RPGs. But damn this is looking good.

Someone's super butthurt. Calm down, nancy.
I didn't say hotkeying broke the game, I'm saying that it broke the immersion FOR ME.

You are missing out. Sadly there probably won't be a demo but I am guessing a blind buy will be worth it if you like open-ended games. Now, if they can get humans to look like humans instead a lump of yellow or pale clay, I will be even more excited.
And... a different voice actress for the female elves... that wench sounded like someone's mother-in-law..
I have never bought a Elder Scrolls game, because personally I hate RPGs. But damn this is looking good.
Well, maybe you never played a srpg. I don't really like them arpg like Dragon Age or something.
What I want in Skyrim
1. Spears (confirmed to not be in :( )
2. Capes
3. Werewolves and non-ugly-ass vampires (I know everyone has their own preferences for about what vampires should be like but my one doesn't make them 100-year old monkey-faced wierdos)
4. The ability to delete spells from your list
5. People to talk about more the fucking mudcrabs
6. profitable theiving and making money while being a pure merchant character.
3. Werewolves and non-ugly-ass vampires (I know everyone has their own preferences for about what vampires should be like but my one doesn't make them 100-year old monkey-faced wierdos)
Vampires aren't supposed to be attractive. Original vampires bring in their prey via pharamones. Not looks. And I swear if I see Twifag Vampires in my Skyrim I'll go ballistic!

There are vampires in Twilight? (Also, things in brackets are your friends.)

The vampires in oblivion only looked ugly because of a bug that caused your face to reset to the default one if you loaded directly into the game as opposed from loading a save ingame.

Which made wood elves and dark elves look like 100 year old asian men that were very unhappy about just having sucked on a lemon.
