If you want high res textures I'm sure there's going to be a mod for it There always is
Console footage + 9 months of development time left + compressed video. You can complain when the game is released thank you very much. :colbert:
What makes you think it's console footage? In the first trailer to show ingame scenes I would imagine they take the best graphics they have and they won't use the 9 month development time to recreate most of their assets and to rewrite parts of their graphics engine, no, they will fix bugs and finish fine tuning the content.
If you want high res textures I'm sure there's going to be a mod for it There always is
Exactly, they are building this game on technology from 2004, of course the textures are going to be low-res.
Exactly, they are building this game on technology from 2004, of course the textures are going to be low-res.
For the last fucking time, it's a new engine and it's a work in progress. Shut up.
.. You're kidding us, right? Console footage + 9 months of development time left + compressed video. You can complain when the game is released thank you very much. :colbert:
Don't get too optimistic. That's what I've thought countless times, every single time I've been left disappointed in some way.
For the last fucking time, it's a new engine and it's a work in progress. Shut up.
Did you quote the wrong person? A new engine isn't going to get high resolution textures to run on a game like Skyrim for the 360. If you want to have ridiculously high resolution textures on everything you need to get the PC version of Skyrim.
The environments look fucking amazing The forests are actually forests now, and the buildings don't look bland this time around
it's a work in progress.
It's not like they're going to make new textures...

At least not for a 2011/2010 game.
In what other way would you mean it being based on tech from '04? The 360 is a pretty high-end system, it could run this on higher settings/texture resolutions if it wasen't for the limitation of the technology/the game developers optimizing it for console gameplay (which they wont, as it's mostly supported on the PC). Plus not many developers care too much about wowing the PC audience anymore.
They show console footage so people don't end up going "my game looks nothing like that, clearly this product is defective". Plus not many developers care too much about wowing the PC audience anymore.
I've never looked at it that way before.
I fucking hate it when games release trailers and whatnot so many months before release, get's me so hyped and I have to wait for fucking ages... It hurts... :saddowns:
I saw Nirnroot at 1:44. I'm also liking how that Dragonfire looks and sounds devastating.
Hey guys remember when I said "I will embedd the first trailer into the very fabric of my being" ? I watched the trailer 27 times now. i am also convinced i am hearing the morrowind theme in the new one now
After watching it few more times, I must say the thief's armor looks really nice! Same thing goes for the elven armor, but it resembles Champion of Cyrodill a bit too much.
Just look at those textures: [img_thumb]http://oi52.tinypic.com/2vi0zr8.jpg[/img_thumb] You can't tell me that looks like a 2011 AAA game.
textures don't make the game man something called gameplay does, quit whining

Plus not many developers care too much about wowing the PC audience anymore.
Right, so what's to say that those aren't the PC graphics? A lot of developers make their games following the consoles' limits. I wouldn't get your hopes up on getting better graphics than that on your PC, since you'll be mildly disappointed.
After watching it few more times, I must say the thief's armor looks really nice! Looks a whole lot better than Oblivion (duh), but as always I'll wait for actual gameplay.
Just look at those textures: [img_thumb]http://oi52.tinypic.com/2vi0zr8.jpg[/img_thumb] You can't tell me that looks like a 2011 AAA game.
Most likely compression. I've barely played Oblivion and it's amazing. This looks too good for words. Also, shadows on something other than just characters!
No, those textures are clearly super low res. I really hope you guys are right and it has better textures on PC, but I really don't get why they didn't show the PC version if it looks better. The shadows do look a lot better though.
They show console footage so people don't end up going "my game looks nothing like that, clearly this product is defective".
Looks a whole lot better than Oblivion (duh), but as always I'll wait for actual gameplay.
There were snippets of gameplay in it, actually, since the game lacks a hud.
Holy shit, did you see that wolf? It actually... Turned, and and looked.... natural. This may come off as a bit weird, but the only negative thing about that trailer was when it showed a character walking through a town, you can see one of the NPCs doing the "Oblivion" thing where they twist their whole body unnaturally to stare uncanny-valley style at another NPC while walking by them.
There were snippets of gameplay in it, actually, since the game lacks a hud.
Yeah but they were really short.
I don't see why people are complaining about low res textures, there are going to be a billion x a billion res mods out Unless you are getting it for console, in which case lol [editline]24th February 2011[/editline] The wolf thing was to show off Havok, looks really great
Getting a Bethesda developed game for console is the dumbest thing you can do.
This may come off as a bit weird, but the only negative thing about that trailer was when it showed a character walking through a town, you can see one of the NPCs doing the "Oblivion" thing where they twist their whole body unnaturally to stare uncanny-valley style at another NPC while walking by them.
IMO it looks nothing like it In Oblivion they would stop, turn their whole body around and stare at you Now they only bother to turn their heads and they continue walking
So well, my mother teaches Music at a school (not just playing some instruments, most of her lessons are about history and analysis) and she decided to use the Skyrim trailer for a study on soundtracks. This means PUNCHING DRAGONS IN THE FACE = EDUCATIONAL
IMO it looks nothing like it In Oblivion they would stop, turn their whole body around and stare at you Now they only bother to turn their heads and they continue walking
Fair enough, but it still looks kinda odd. Also, I like how they showed a Stealth kill, confirming that playing a stealth character might be a whole lot more fun. Don't entirely know why he decided to do it in front of a bunch of people in a pub, but who cares, it looks cool.
