Or if you were hidden well enough during the act, they wouldn't know shit about what you did. But after the 4th or so dead villager, the townsfolks would start to link "Dovakhiin moved here = guys died in strange conditions" and eventually try to lynch you all together, with torches and pitchforks.
That'd be awesome.

Also, cooking was mentioned as a possible hobby, right?
I WANT it to be like this:

That guy is a descendant of Dovahkiin.
He's more of a Dovahkiin of our universe.

His great great grandfather already killed them all.
Wouldn't it be fun if you can chop a tree down and it falls on a stray wolf/deer that was passing by :v:?

Ordinary viking hunting technique
1. You don't need to spam restoration spells in combat.
2. I never said i even use restoration magic past the tutorial.
So you use the same health bar up until you die? I have a feeling you're either exploiting in combat to kill your opponents (standing on rocks or pattern-backstepping attacks) or you're not playing on normal mode (50 difficulty)
The only way to avoid damage in combat is to sneak attack your oppoenets with a bow, or jsut use a bow in general, and the bows themselves are very unbalanced, and just incredibly stupid overall. The fact of the matter is Oblivion combat is very dysfunctional and unbalanced, if you disagree with that statement then I can't possibly imagine in what convoluted form you could possibly play the game.
Damn I had a Dream of playing Skyrim and it was awesome :buddy:

You will get Deja Vu a week into the game and be like: "Dude..."
So please tell us what the gameplay was like.
I want a light blue t-shirt that says "POP CULTURE REFERENCE" on it.

Drinking a health potion after the battle =/= spamming spells, best way to avoid death is to fight on your terms only and avoid it otherwise (I'm playing an assassin, alright?), you also regenerate health when you sleep and eat (and i had to sleep every day and eat three times a day).
When I'm on a quest, sneaking + bows + paralyze dagger are very useful, when I'm out in the open I'm trying to disengage and do a sneak attack or just simply gallop away on my horse.

I was going to buy one, but then I decided to save it for my Skyrim.

Theres still like 8 months to go.
8 months, 7 days to go.
And it's only like $25 USD
And a skyrim t-shirt would be a lot cooler.

Oh, so you don't abuse restoration but you abuse everything else. My mistake. More power to you if you can stand Oblivions combat experience, but there's simply no way around it without exploiting some game mechanic. The combat in Oblivion is mediocre at best and you need to find ways to work around it. if you think it's outwright good, you are delusional. The game undeinably has a lot of faults with it's combat and level scaling.
I'm just hoping Skyrim combat is more timing/luck based, and hopefully weapons actually do significant damage and armor does somethings besides rolling off a certain % of damage. In oblivion you could do parry somebody's attack, do some epic sideways jump, slash somebody across the face and it woudln't make any fucking difference, your weapon would still do X amount of damage despite the fact that you may have outsmarted the opponent. Ding anything other than block-attack-dodge-attack was a waste of health and fatigue. This is what I consider to be a bad combat system. At least in Morrowind you could kill somebody in 1-2 hits because weapons do X-X amount of damage (or likewise, die in 1-2 hits), but in Oblivion every hit is the same regardless of where you hit and regardless of your timing.
Hopefully in skyrim, armor can actually deflect hits, weapons can actually kill people in 1-2 strikes, and bows aren't a uber-spam weapon and are actually a weapon of timing and precision. Of course, all those things should also apply the other way, too. A guy with a warhammer should be able to bash your head in if you're not careful and graceful (or outright brutish) in combat and a single well placed arrow should be able to make you bleed out before you even reach your enemy.
About Deja Vu, I really hope it won't ruin this game for me.
It has happened to me several times!
:argh:

dude, I'm unemployed and I'm not that rich.
If I don't start saving up now I'm not getting skyrim this year :v:

I'd say they're equally cool.

Sell your old stuff, try getting a part time job w/e. Anything what brings some money in is good.
I'm getting 5 games of 2011 for free from steam so I saved like 250 euros (!) with that.

Skyrim t-shirt COMES WITH free glue-on stage actor's beard.
We should post pictures of our beards sometime in the next thread.

Arkane Studios is doing the combat, and they did Messiah of Might and Magic, which had excellent combat. I think it'll be along those lines.
I find it interesting that everybody wanted the combat in Oblivion to be just like Dark Messiah, and here we are now, without Gamebryo and with Arkane Studios doing the combat. It really is a dream come true in all respects.

Dark Messiah did not have excellent combat. :colbert:
Dark Messiah had THE BEST combat.

I sucked at Dark Messiah. Kept hitting shields like they automatically put them up as soon as I click the mouse.
Also, if you listen to the Skyrim theme while looking at your avatar, they have the same beat. Sync them up and she automatically grows a beard. Not the kind of beard we'd like, but still...
Dark messiah had good combat mechanics. if you think about it, you probably brutally kill like 300 people from the start to the end, your opponents are morons. It's a meglomaniac experience; it's a lot of fun; yes, but it's not really a true RPG.. More of a linear action game with RPG features. What I like about Elder Scrolls (and Fallout) is that unlike in most games, you and everybody else are basically on even grounds. Though you may have higher stats than some people and some people may have higher stats then you, everybody functions in the same way and can do the same things. Ultimtely you feel of the same flesh and blood (or pixels and stats) as everybody else, and that's what makes it an interactive and complete world.
To some extent, that needs to reflect on combat, your opponents in combat should be able to do the same stuff as you (attack at similar speeds with similar accuracy) but your stats and level should define the extents of said abilities.
I guess what I'm saying is, while it's a lot of fun, killing soembody in Dark Messiah just isn't as well deserved as it is in Elder Scrolls. When you bash somebody's face in in Elder Scrolls, you feel like you've made a larger impact on your surroundings, and you feel as if you've actually killed an inhabitant of the world, and not just some unequal and totally inferior NPC who just happened to be in your path. Dark messiah combat mechanics will definitely be great in Skyrim, but I'm guessing (and hoping) overall your opponents in Skyrim will be a lot more challenging and lot more intelligent than they are in Dark Messiah.
I'd love every single aspect of Dark messiah combat to be in Skyrim, but only if other NPCs can and will use the same combat mechanics as me. In Dark messiah I always pick up barrels and shit like that to break over opponents heads, but In Elder Scrolls I'd expect NPCs to pick up barrels and shit and throw them at me also. In Dark Messiah I kick people into spiked walls and kick them off ledges, but in Elder Scrolls I'd expect NPCs to utilize the same tactics on me, otherwise it just wouldn't feel like an RPG :saddowns:

As I say about every one that gets to do the same thing over again:
They'll learn from their mistakes.

I'm probably misinterpreting your post but I don't know what the heck you mean by that. :psyduck:
Only mistake for elders scrolls was the Gamebryo engine.
