I'm thinking that Akaviri ruins will fill the role Dwemer ruins had in Morrowind and Alyiad ruins had in Oblivion. Wasn't the area of Skyrim once occupied by the guys from Akavir? Did someone else live there?
There actually will be Dwemer ruins though. They showed a Dwemer Centurion in Sounds of Skyrim.

When i get my skyrim, im gonna get some tissues and stay on the title menu until the theme song is finished.

Bu- That's a statue of my Argonian wearing pants and a hood. My Cyrodill is better than yours :colbert:
Dark messiah had good combat mechanics. if you think about it, you probably brutally kill like 300 people from the start to the end, your opponents are morons. It's a meglomaniac experience; it's a lot of fun; yes, but it's not really a true RPG.. More of a linear action game with RPG features. What I like about Elder Scrolls (and Fallout) is that unlike in most games, you and everybody else are basically on even grounds. Though you may have higher stats than some people and some people may have higher stats then you, everybody functions in the same way and can do the same things. Ultimtely you feel of the same flesh and blood (or pixels and stats) as everybody else, and that's what makes it an interactive and complete world.
To some extent, that needs to reflect on combat, your opponents in combat should be able to do the same stuff as you (attack at similar speeds with similar accuracy) but your stats and level should define the extents of said abilities.
I guess what I'm saying is, while it's a lot of fun, killing soembody in Dark Messiah just isn't as well deserved as it is in Elder Scrolls. When you bash somebody's face in in Elder Scrolls, you feel like you've made a larger impact on your surroundings, and you feel as if you've actually killed an inhabitant of the world, and not just some unequal and totally inferior NPC who just happened to be in your path. Dark messiah combat mechanics will definitely be great in Skyrim, but I'm guessing (and hoping) overall your opponents in Skyrim will be a lot more challenging and lot more intelligent than they are in Dark Messiah.
I'd love every single aspect of Dark messiah combat to be in Skyrim, but only if other NPCs can and will use the same combat mechanics as me. In Dark messiah I always pick up barrels and shit like that to break over opponents heads, but In Elder Scrolls I'd expect NPCs to pick up barrels and shit and throw them at me also. In Dark Messiah I kick people into spiked walls and kick them off ledges, but in Elder Scrolls I'd expect NPCs to utilize the same tactics on me, otherwise it just wouldn't feel like an RPG :saddowns:
Thats because Dark Messiah was more an Action RPG with very minimal focus on the roleplaying except the advancement of stats.
If you ever played Dark Messiah on the hardest difficulty you would not be saying it is more satisfying to kill an enemy in Oblivion (unless you mean purely based on them being unique NPCs). On the maximum difficulty the weakest enemies in the game could kill you in 2-3 hits and survive much damage from the player. I do agree their AI was a bit slow, but at least they did interact with the environment, cutting ropes etc.
And you are wrong to a degree, in Dark Messiah I had enemies picking me up and throwing me down stairs or into walls to do damage in a similar way to the player's kick.
You are right that if the AI is not improved significantly to a level of sufficiency with these combat moves it may be annoying.
any gameplay videos?
none in op :saddowns:

Gameplay trailer, yes, gameplay video, no
I can't wait for this game. If it's not delayed, it'll come out on my birthday, which'll be awesome. I'm listening to the music from Oblivion right now and it's helping curb my withdrawals.

I was too busy looking at the armour.
Any speculation on what that blue-hazy thing is?
my god man turn up your settings
I would like to, but... on my laptop it runs like a piece of poop. :frown:
Has there been any GDC leaks?

Steam particle effects?
Otherwise I have no idea what you're talking about.
All I see is a greenish steam like stuff.
Or maybe light coming in and reflecting off dust.
Or some off that stupid poison gas.
Or some off that stupid poison gas.
That is one reason why I love playing as an Argonian. Just sneaking around in a dungeon when suddenly "hissssss", and I just keep going.
I hope that the traps in Skyrim will actually kill you in one hit.
I remember being slammed into spikes and have logs hit me, only to hurt a bit.
Oblivion traps were more of a nuisance then anything.

Would be good if hard physical impacts would knock you off your feet.
