big ass spoilers [sp]also how the FUCK did they come up with that technology and put it into a girl?![/sp]
[sp]She lost her finger in another timeline, and the universe didn't like it, so that's what gave her the powers, I think. Not technology.[/sp]
big ass spoilers [sp]I still want to know what is up with those fucking crazy freaky dudes wearing the masks in the place they were "experimenting" on elizabeth. for that matter, I never found out what they were trying to get from her exactly, or what they were planning to use it for. also im wondering if comstock knew that dewitt was himself? he knew dewitt was the father but how much more did he know? I suppose he could see tears as I'm assuming that's how he "saw the future" but what more did he know. also how the FUCK did they come up with that technology and put it into a girl?![/sp]
[sp]Comstock knew everything, including that he bought his own daughter from himself. He got baptized after he sold her, regretted it, and used time travel to go buy her from himself.[/sp]
I honestly feel hard mode is harder than 1999 mode.
I'm enjoying hard mode so far, I've been spoiled a bit by modern shooters and health regen so I keep hitting panic situations where I'm down to a sliver of health and have to assess a situation and how I'll get to a health vial across a large gap, it's refreshing in a way. I only just got to the raven shrine since I just had a few hours to be a tourist, but I've been rather offput by the fact that there are only ever three male and two female styled citizen NPCs despite being rather densely populated; there's even sets stacked in exactly the same fashions, like the two guys talking to the lady with a flower hat. I assume this won't matter now that I'm getting into the game where enemy NPCs and important characters will be all I see though
Man the carbine sucks.
I was using it almost my entire first playthrough and it was just fine.
[sp]She lost her finger in another timeline, and the universe didn't like it, so that's what gave her the powers, I think. The finger has nothing to do with that I don't think.[/sp] [editline]27th March 2013[/editline]
[sp]Comstock knew everything, including that he bought his own daughter from himself. I would have used the Carbine more, but I find the immense zoom really annoying. Same reason I don't like the ACOG scope in the CoD games. I like my peripheral vision I just stuck with sniper and shotgun
Man the carbine sucks.
You think so? I used it pretty much as my main weapon throughout the entire game.

Also they didn't take her to experiment on her, they took her because Comstack wanted his fucking daughter back[/sp]
[sp]And maybe he had her before wounded knee? Also they didn't take her to experiment on her, they took her because Comstack wanted his fucking daughter back[/sp]
[sp]she was an infant, that's impossible. it seemed to me like all he cared about was her power and the fact she was his daughter was irrelevant, so I don't know if he knew that at all[/sp]
[sp]she was an infant, that's impossible.[/sp]
What?
Next game should be in an underground city and be focused on Cold War era tech and nuclear paranoia I seriously hope they pull a Zelda with this franchise and just keep making more great games with similar motifs
I'd honestly like them to go back to system shock or make another "shock" Not sure where they'd go next though really. System shock was space-sci fi but in a very cyber-punky skin and motif. Maybe they could do actual hard space sci-fi? Or something like dark scifi i.e. warhammer? Could be pretty cleche though. I think that's where the bioshock games really play in their strengths, is that they don't use cleche genre tropes for their settings at all. But then again maybe that's what the next "shock" game could do - make a hard sci-fi that doesn't just play or feel like (in its setting) like the generic sci-fi we are all used to.
I have been updating at 100% for the past half hour, what do?
12-13 hours, hard, lots of exploring.
What?
[sp]she couldn't have been born before wounded knee, chronologically. wounded knee: 1890, elizabeth was born 1892[/sp]
what's the song they sing when you first enter Columbia? I feel like it's by troubled waters but at the same time I don't.
I made an analysis/explanation of the details and implications of the awesome and complex ending of Infinite! :)
[sp]she couldn't have been born before wounded knee, chronologically. wounded knee: 1890, elizabeth was born 1892[/sp]
[sp]Oh didn't know that. Maybe because Comstock was sterile he wanted a biological daughter so he stole it from a non-sterile version of himself? Yeah the whole "she was born after" thing is a lot more confusing[/sp]
When I get stuck trying to figure out every inch of the ending [sp]I keep thinking of that quote from Looper "I don't want to talk about time travel because if we start talking about it then we're going to be here all day talking about it, making diagrams with straws."[/sp] [editline]27th March 2013[/editline]
[sp]Oh didn't know that. Maybe because Comstock was sterile he wanted a biological daughter so he stole it from a non-sterile version of himself? Yeah the whole "she was born after" thing is a lot more confusing[/sp]
[sp]I think him selling Anna to Comstock, just made a stable time loop. So I don't think it'll be very easy to figure out...[/sp] Potentially spoiler-y link? (Beware, its Tvtropes)
I thought the carbine was great, although it requires some precision shooting which makes it pretty ineffective at times.
That's my problem with it I love using the carbine but really it has a slower time to kill than the pistol does, except much more damaging on critical hits (aka headshots). The problem is though you need to be down irons to really use it, and you need to land headshots, otherwise it's totally worthless just because the pistol can shoot much faster and is accurate out of irons and in irons. And in a game where a good chunk of the fights are close range affairs, and a good chunk of the fights are chaotic and deadly to the point where you need to move quick and react quick, the carbine just can't keep up at all. Especially when your default gun (pistol) actually kills quicker than a carbine does if you just blind fire all your hits on the enemy. Especially once you get the sniper. Because then whats the point? The one redeeming factor of a carbine is that it's easier to hit things with it at longer range than the pistol. But then you get a sniper which actually specilized for those specific situations. It sucks because I usually love semi-auto low ammo rifles in shooters as my favorite class. Kind of like a hybrid between a sniper and a lighter gun. But it just sucks here. Doesn't have any lasting power at all, is completely awful in short range, decent at long range but not amazing. And with how chaotic and fast the combat is there's no way you're going to find time to line up each and every shot because the enemies will be on your doorstep blasting you with shotguns if you just camp out behind cover. EDIT: Not to mention the iron sights fucking block 80% of your vision so you have no periphrial vision while using it, which is pretty damn important especially in this game (and in real life using guns with irons like this would have you using both eyes to aim instead of just one so it doesn't block all your view). Playing on 1999 mode btw
[sp]Oh didn't know that. Maybe because Comstock was sterile he wanted a biological daughter so he stole it from a non-sterile version of himself? Yeah the whole "she was born after" thing is a lot more confusing[/sp]
[sp]yeah I'm thinking he just wanted to experiment on anything he could get his hands on and perhaps later on discovered the rifts which let him see the other realities or whatever the fuck[/sp]
My only complaint so far is how you can only hold two guns. I was hoping we'd have a radial menu for all of them like the first two games.

It's quite annoying to even lose track of the atmosphere ever so slightly due to paranoia when the next combat section begins.
[sp]Oh didn't know that. Maybe because Comstock was sterile he wanted a biological daughter so he stole it from a non-sterile version of himself? Yeah the whole "she was born after" thing is a lot more confusing[/sp]
[sp]I think earlier in the thread someone else explained/thought that Comstock was starting to get old due to the whole tear experimenting he was working on with Lutece and he would die before his ideas/plans for Columbia were finished. Thus he wanted to get an heir, but he was sterile, so he used the technology that the Lutece twins had to get Elizabeth from a universe where he never went ahead with the baptism.[/sp]

Yeah the whole "she was born after" thing is a lot more confusing[/sp]
That's what and why, yeah. [sp]He wanted "his" daughter, so he stole it from an alternate himself.[/sp]
my head is full of [sp]tears[/sp]
Jesus christ I need to replay this. There was so much stuff to take in at the end, that only some got through my thick skull. Also, there doesn't look to be a new game+. Real bummer as I wanted to continue upgrading my stuff.
Also, god the soundtrack is amazing, the choir version of this song is beautiful, as is the original: Also, I love the loading screen jingles and the scene where [sp] Fortunate Son is playing through one of the tears [/sp]
I think if there was one detail the ending needed it would be [sp]That the Elizabeth's had different broaches on, either the bird or the cage where a different decision was made[/sp]
i've yet to find a video of that awesome God Only Knows cover
