I've been playing for at least six hours and I haven't hit the halfway point yet.
how the fuck do you beat this in 6 hours? i was playing on hard and i was exploring every part of the game I could and took me 15 hours too. It really sucks for you if you just blasted through it.
I went through it in six hours, where did you guys go? I went into all the stores in sight, took all the alternate paths i could find, looked in every room of every building around on normal difficulty and still managed to make that time. i must have been a fool and missed all sorts of content.

I spent 40 minutes alone just exploring the city in the beginning

i think you missed a shitload, also you played it on normal.
i spent a long time on a lot of the big battles, not because i kept dying, but because i didn't. a lot of time was spent running away and being precise and not dying at all.

I definitely underestimated the map size and the areas i could explore then, i'll probably go back on hard or 1999 and try to see what i missed.
[sp]How did who not notice? Booker? He was drunk or knocked out or something (and while he's dazed he makes up the "bring us the girl [from Columbia] and wipe away the debt" story in his head). You see it happen in the ending[/sp]
oh, maybe when he walks through the door. fair enough.

you literally must have because there is a shitload of stuff to do
Goddamn I really need to beat this already so I can click the sea of black that is this thread lol but 1999 mode sure as hell makes you not take things fast
RPG elements =/= better gameplay.
Why are so many disappointed when games aren't RPGs, even though they were never advertised to be?
I'm not disappointed its not an RPG.
I just liked the RPG elements in Bioshock because it was one of the few games to do it right.
The pacing of the combat in Infinite is too fast, so there is little room for strategy in comparison. When I see a sentry I don't go, oh I should switch to anti armor rounds, I just shoot it because dominating is usually a waste of salts. Same deal with stealth, in the original Bioshock you could stealth to avoid a lot of enemies and hide from them, in Infinite it just lets you get the first shot off. Or plasmids vs vigors, Bioshock had way more variety, in Infinite I felt like I was using only 2 for the most part.
As for improvements enemies don't take 50 bullets to the head in hard mode anymore, but on the other side you fight waves of enemies CoD style.
Let's not forget only being able to carry two weapons at a time. My biggest grievance with the game.

I wouldn't say you fight waves of enemies. Only a relatively small portion of encounters throughout the entire game throw multiple waves at you after another, each fight is usually confined to a respective area. Even on [sp]Comstock's personal ship[/sp], it's sequential fights from one area to another until [sp]the finale.[/sp]
But with the tighter focus on where you're going most of the time, it's fun to see that backtracking is allowed usually and there's plenty of off-the-beaten-route secrets but I can agree that they definitely made the combat a little more linear to a degree.
wtf its like the best gun ???
[editline]28th March 2013[/editline]
carbine, pistol, revolver, shotgun, best weapons
Not on Hard/1999
Shotty+Sniper with a rocket launcher from time to time are really the best by far.

should I even bother?
holy shit i just started [sp]jumping through portals and shit[/sp]. right now i'm in [sp]Vox-ville, heading BACK to the gunsmith (for the third time) and fighting my way through shit.[/sp] apparently here i'm a martyr, which is odd because i'm alive.
is this when the game really starts to pick up?

i'm playing on hard and the carbine owns. only problem is lack of ammo.

I almost cried at the beginning, when you first enter the church. The atmosphere, the hymn, its so perfect. I walked around there for 30 minutes, and didn't want to leave.
i really hope they release an OST of some sort, including the score they created for the game and the music they included to fit the time

Sorta, you still got an hour or so until it picks up.
Finally beat the game.
[sp]That ending was a real mindfuck AND a heartbreaker all in one. God damn, talk about a masterpiece.[/sp]
The [sp] Elizabeth's mother [/sp] Can go fuck themselves, I swear I keep shooting at it but it doesn't DIE.
stuff in this game seems cool until you really put it into perspective, in which case it's the greatest thing that has ever existed
for example, i just crashed a blimp. that seems fairly run of the mill, until you realize that:
A) I'm standing in a warzone miles above the earth
B) the blimp was equipped with seeker missiles and automatic turrets
C) I launched onto it via skyrail, also several miles above the earth, and landed on a fin whilst simultaneously burying a sawblade (attached to my wrist) into the skull of a man who worships george washington
this is the best game ever

I felt the same, but looking past that, Infinite is still a 10/10 in my eyes, just disappointing to me personally in some ways.
I dislike the dumbing down(ammo, no stealth, only 4 slots of total gear compared to like 20 tonic slots in total, 2 weapons) and clearly cut content and ideas(multiple paths as shown 15 minute 2nd demo, also being more focused on insanity and mindfuckery as shown in both the 10 and 15 minute demo, these not happening let me down the most)
But aside from what I personally wanted I was still blown away and exceeded pretty much all my expectations(except no visual weapon upgrades, those were the best) the writing I felt wasnt as powerful as Bioshock 1 and System Shock 2 but it was still top notch all around but it didnt have moments like An evening with Sander Cohen that literally just made my jaw drop. [sp]except for the Rapture part at the end of infinite, that made my jaw drop but thats a 1 time thing[/sp]
Still a 10/10 in my eyes but not as good as SS2/Bioshock 1 to me personally, its close though.
what an ending...
[sp]the part where Booker and Elizabeth teleport to Rapture made me shit so many bricks[/sp]
The [sp] Elizabeth's mother [/sp] Can go fuck themselves, I swear I keep shooting at it but it doesn't DIE.
imo best thing to do is kind of [sp]use return to sender to absorb zombie bullets and throw 'em back at her[/sp]
Also yeah carbine is best weapon
Let's not forget only being able to carry two weapons at a time. My biggest grievance with the game.
Am i the only one who actually likes only having two weapons, in Bioshock 2 the battles weren't as intense, because i kept pausing the game when going into the menu to switch weapon (yes, never bothered using the 1-2-3-4 buttons to do it). I prefer only having two weapons, it keeps things speedy.
Does 1999 mode let you carry all the weapons at once?
just got undertow
oh christ, the holes :pwn:
oh my god at the ending

[sp]MY FUCKING MIND IS BEING RAPED UP THE ASS WITH THIS META BULLSHIT GOD FUCKING DAMNIT ALL THESE UNIVERSES ALL THESE PLAYERS ALL THESE CHOICES WHICH YOU DONT EVEN NOTICE
EVEN THE LIGHTHOUSE YOU GO TO IS OPTIONAL[/sp]
oh my god the rails system owns
i feel like a dive bomber, even the machine gun looks like it should be mounted on an airplane
seriously dive bombing rail stations never gets old. and when you're done and far enough away just hit "turn around" and do it all over again...
oh my god at the ending
