Why the fuck is every single new game (2010,2009,2008etc) requires the best PC up to date?

I would assume because the graphics and what not are getting better for the game, but if you have that problem then i suggest a ps3 or an xbox360... lawl.
My current setup was a budget project made almost two years ago to revamp an outdated machine with a physically damaged graphics card and motherboard.
It can still run most games that are coming out today. It can't run them with all the bells and whistles but it can run them.
Biggest problem I have is that one of my RAM sticks went Kaput.
Technology is always changing, try and keep up.
My computer is 3 years old.
I´ve got it a new graphics card and I´m planning on buying a new processor.
After I buy the processor, everything will run on max. Except for the PC ports that haven´t been ported with a try.
You can build a pretty cheap and decent gaming computer these days, just be smart. The reason shit keeps upgrading is 1. because the hardware companies are fighting for best performance and 2. the gaming industry feeds off this power as a chance to show new awesome stuff off. It's what keeps everything interesting and stops shit stagnating.
Pentium 4 3Ghz Single Core, 1.5GB ram, 256Mb ATI Radeon X1950 Pro, and a 250GB HDD. And this rig, didn't cost me a penny, The CPU & Ram came from a PC a University was throwing out, the Graphics Card, was and old card from a friend when he got a new card. The HDD, for my Birthday. This PC, although not a super computer, works, and works well, can run Stalker Maxed, albeit with a tad of here and there stutter, but it can. Arma 2 on Low....very low, but playable, Crysis runs on this for petes sake.
Real life can get in the way, and cause problems, Financial problems for example, as a lot of us do suffer, including myself, and my family, but if you build stuff from what I call "Junkers" you should be able to muster up at least a decent enough PC. Just takes some patience, and some open eyes. :)
Tomorrow I'm getting my Motherboard and CPU fan, completing a two year quest for new parts.
It will leave me, hopefully, with a 300 GB HD, a 9600 GT graphics card, a 3.02 Ghz dual core processor, and four gigabytes of RAM.
And then I can finally play all the shit I've wanted to. :D

I love cobbling together spare parts.
It makes me feel like a nerdier Dr. Frankenstein.
But I got a P4, my MB doesn't support any dualcore :crying:
Get a new one.

Yep its awesome, and I find building a pc personally, is alot more fun, and gives you more sense of Achievment that buying one prebuilt, it just feels good to know that when you press the power button, it all turns on nicely, boots up fast and clean, and runs well, you can sit back and say. "Yeah its not the best, but it works and I built if myself, even with a small bit of help."
Maybe its just me. :)
I am planning to buy BlazBlue Calamity Trigger PC but hell my PC won't run it.
TIME FOR AN UPGRADE
weird, i dont really need a Good PC for good games.
Rig:
Core2duo 1.6 rated at 2.4
1.5 gb ram ddr2 (0.5 when bought, then i bought a gig from a JANITOR at my school)
Nvidia Gforce XfX 9400 GT, 1 gig ddr2 ($75)
And that with a nice fresh copy of windows XP runs borderlands at max quality. 16x AA and everything.

You use, too many, commas.

Seriously, it's like, you just put them, wherever you feel like.
Yes, well sorry for not being a grade A student and passing everything with flying colors including English. Its my writing style, take it or leave it. I use them mainly to note pauses when I speak not sure why, just a bad habit I guess.
@OP
Upgrade your 5 year old PC and stop bitching
It really pisses me off when people complain about not being able to play all the new games with their "old" rigs. You can run Crysis, which at this point, is still probably the most graphically advanced game on Earth with 2 gigs of ram and an 8600 at medium to high settings at 1280x1024 resolution. That kind of PC is only like 500-600 dollars now at the absolute most.
No way.
There are games out that make Crysis look like shit.
Name one or two.
Name one or two.
Arma 2 is the only one I can think of, but they're pretty evenly matched. At this point, games are only beginning to reach the kind of graphical fidelity Crysis has had since 2007.
Why?
I mean fuck, think about the ones that can't afford a PC.
Too many good games, all of them needing a PC.
Right,so I am on a pretty low budget PC.What the fuck does it cost to lower the model graphics to something like HL2 graphics?
What the fuck does it cost to remove a couple of goddamn shadows in a goddamn game?
Fuck,it has to be the hardest thing ever in the fucking world, because I can't play any of the new good fucking games.
Left 4 Dead,AVP,Crysis,etc.
Atleast I can fucking play Killing Floor for fucks sakes.
Dear god,I would love to play GTA 4 on a goddamn first person mod with all my shitty graphics,I just want to play the game before I fucking drop dead for fucks sakes.
Too fucking bad
Get a better PC, developers shouldn't have to change a game because of people like you.

ARMA 2 has some better scenery (like horizons and such) but Crysis is the prettier game.

I'm pretty sure Crytek will be one step ahead for a while.
They've done just about everything right when it comes to realism.
The engine is also flexible as hell.
Yeah, two of the most expensive parts.
Like a 9800 GTX for about $60?
Or a Intel Core 2 Quad 3 GHz Processor for about $175?
$225 and got the processor at almost half price :smug:
If i were to compare an engine to Crysis, i'd compare the X-ray engine, used in Stalker. (Thinking about CoP right now)
[editline]11:59PM[/editline]
(Broke my automerge :argh:)
How can you compare it to Crysis? It's engine doesn't have an integrated REALTIME editor nor does it allow for such large creations like in crysis (someone made a city half as large as Manhattan on Crysis). X-Ray has NO editor, is hard to edit. But then again; it is flexible once you get the hang of it, but I'd still say Crysis is more flexible.
Fucking maybe they fucking just don't fucking like fucking people who fucking say fuck all the fucking time fuck
Crysis is far more flexible and generally better looking.
But at times, x-ray looks wonderful.
[editline]12:10AM[/editline]
I mean, it's my second favourite engine.
Too bad X-Ray requires SO MUCH GODDAMN RAM!! /caps
X-Ray is awesome when it comes to lighting and textures:

CryEngine is awesome when it comes to flexibility and just about everything else:
Too bad X-Ray requires SO MUCH GODDAMN RAM!! /caps
It's unoptimized as fuck, well, CoP's version is far better optimized than CS's version.
Crysis can still have better textures/lighting.
Crysis can still have better textures/lighting.
I'm talking about the standard textures right now, and CoP easily has better textures and uses POM better than Crysis.
About the lighting, yes, but not Cryengine 2.
Cryengine 3, on the other hand, will feature indirect illumination which is awesome.
Call of Pripyat and Clear Sky has volumetric sunligh, crysis has a post process effect that tried to emulate this, but you wont see any god rays if you're not looking at the object giving the shadows. And rays are sometimes behaving unrealistically.
You'll never see a ray of light coming from somewhere behind you, unlike CoP or CS.
Now, Cryengine CAN do this, (In the editor, you can make a light do this) but you can't make the sun do it.
Time for me to upgrade my 10 year old computer
