I give portal 2 one month before Peabody is replaced with an anime model.
i give it a week before it's replaced with touhou bullshit
The plot thickens. Go back to Aperturescience.com and it now has this message:
You have done well, humans. Very well. Acceptably well, even. Not as well as robots would have performed in your places, I should point out. But above my expectations regardless. Irish and cynic especially have executed feats of logical divination well beyond what I thought any human capable of. I'm half-convinced they're A.I. themselves. (If anyone happens to be near them right now, don't let on you're reading this. Now: try to remove their face plates and report back to me.) The time is near, humans. But it is not here yet. Tomorrow you will be given the final test. Then it will be entirely in your hands when I am freed.
UPDATE the aperaturescience.com timer now displays "You have done well, humans. Very well. Acceptably well, even. Not as well as robots would have performed in your places, I should point out. But above my expectations regardless. Irish and cynic especially have executed feats of logical divination well beyond what I thought any human capable of. I'm half-convinced they're A.I. themselves. Sorry shad0w440, I barely got you there... I won't gloat by giving you a late :D
soo does this mean that release date of portal is all up to if we win the ARG tomorrow? at the same time the aperaturescience.com timer was updated portal 2 recieved a steam update on my machine
soo does this mean that release date of portal is all up to if we win the ARG tomorrow?
Either... A.) The Final Test Is Portal 2 itself. B.) What you said. I, myself, think it's going to be A.
I think tomorrow will bring some kind of challenge, because its obvious that the Devs are watching us... a lot.
Unusedcontent.cfg ŒàKÊ
That's in a lot of Valve's GCFs, it's most likely used when they're getting the GCF/VPK ready for download to tell the program that compiles the final cache file what files not to include. Like scrapped/dev content and such.
[img_thumb]http://rghost.ru/5196041/image.png[/img_thumb]
How did you view the VPK file, I thought it was encrypted (or is this a deliberate fake where you just packages up the already extracting files.)
How did you view the VPK file, I thought it was encrypted (or is this a deliberate fake where you just packages up the already extracting files.)
he opened the NCF, the NCF file just lists all the files
How did you view the VPK file, I thought it was encrypted (or is this a deliberate fake where you just packages up the already extracting files.)
Oh shit i made one too :D done in photoshop cs3 :) anyway why dosent the ncf seem to contain a models folder I know that its probably packed into the vpk_dir but all of the other folders that are normally in a source game are inside of the ncf (their empty mosy so their probably for refrence)
[img_thumb]http://rghost.ru/5196041/image.png[/img_thumb]
OSX uses .sh batch files aswell.
Wow, nobody has posted this since the timer has gone off, I thought for sure somebody would. Its been over 2 and a half hours... anyways. For the people that haven't seen the timer countdown to 00:00:00 (I was actually watching it on a friends iPhone in class when it went down) when the timer was done, a test sequence initiated with the following messages (regardless of the times shown in the writing, the actual sequence takes about 10 seconds)
09:00 – Hello again. 09:00 – I’ve been waiting a long time for this. 09:00 – I know it’s arriving later than expected. 09:00 – But I have a message for you: 09:00 – April Fools. 09:01 – I’m joking. 09:01 – Seriously, though: 09:01 – You’ve been surprisingly competent at 09:01 – generating electro-chemical energy to jumpstart the system. 09:01 – But now we need raw computational power 09:02 – to speed up the reboot process.
After a short pause, you are automatically directed to a new page: http://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/ This, obviously a reference Folding@home, is supposedly tracking computational power coming from the all of the people playing the Potato Sack games, and there is a completion bar at the top, showing the total amount of necessary computations made. There is a timer that will expire at 10 AM EST / 6 AM PST 4/19/11, but apparently, the more people that play the games, the faster the "computations" will get done, and theoretically the faster Portal 2 will be unlocked, but if not, it will definitely unlocked by that time. Also, at the bottom, there is a counter for what appears to be the total number of potatoes achieved.
Wrong thread, that's why no one posted :derp:
Well... people have been posting some of the more important ARG stuff, a countdown certainly has to do with the pre-load.
Are those BSP files encrypted? Can you open them?
EVERYTHING in the portal2 directory is encrypted
