you do have a point, but at the same time it still makes sense. [sp]For one, if she can see all possible outcomes, who's to say that rapture happening is the best outcome for that timeline? Rapture doesn't leave the sea to destroy major cities, it just kind of festers in its own (literal) bubble. And what place is it for her to go out of her way and fix all of the problems of every universe? She's fixing the paradox that created this neverending loop- this ideally prevents the Luteces from ever creating the universal tears, preventing any possible paradox. Every universe will run its course, but it should not be allowed to have several interfere with the timelines of others.[/sp] Also to whoever mentioned earlier, [sp]rapture's lighthouse isn't -the- hub, it's just another point in the sea of hubs. Elizabeth just knew how to port to a point in rapture which was near the bathysphere, to which you could go up to the surface and travel from there.[/sp]
I can live with this and it's fine. [sp]I'm just thinking about what would happen if not only the timelines Elizabeth can see are subject to "branching" but also the own, very personal timeline of that all-mighty Elizabeth.[/sp]
[sp]Why will it always lead to Comstock[/sp] What about the universe where I ask the owner where the other flavours are? What about the universe where I leave the shop because I don't like chocolate and vanilla? Why do I have to chose in this particular shop? [sp] Why can Booker only become Comestock by Baptism? [/sp] All you're saying so far is "because the game says so" and it doesn't even say so. [sp]it just shows the 6 Elizabeths where Booker became Comstock by Baptism. What about possible universes where Booker does not become Comstock by Baptism? Obviously the Elizabeths of THESE wouldn't need to prevent the Baptism and also wouldn't have the power to do so[/sp]
But, you did ask the owner on this universe, in ALL of them, because your question was before your choice. [sp]A or B. Vanilla or Chocolate. Reject the baptism or accept the baptism. On those possible 'rejected the baptism Booker' universes, Elizabeth still exist, because Comstock still exists. Works kinda like this: [/sp] [sp] Uni-A - Booker rejects/Anna is sold/Booker goes to Uni-B Uni-B - Booker accepts/Comstock exists/Anna becomes Elizabeth Uni-C - Booker rejects/Anna is sold/Booker goes to Uni-D Uni-D - Booker accepts/Comstock exists/Anna becomes Elizabeth Uni-E - Booker rejects/Anna is sold/Booker goes to Uni-F Uni-F - Booker accepts/Comstock exists/Anna becomes Elizabeth Uni-G - Booker rejects/Anna is sold/Booker goes to Uni-H Uni-H - Booker accepts/Comstock exists/Anna becomes Elizabeth ... [/sp] [sp] Killing Comstock leads to this instead: Uni-A - Booker rejects/Anna is alive Uni-B - Booker accepts and dies/Comstock doesn't exists/Columbia never happens Uni-C - Booker rejects/Anna is alive Uni-D - Booker accepts and dies/Comstock doesn't exists/Columbia never happens ... [/sp] [sp] The universe (or multiverse) doesn't like paradoxes, so it itself kills Uni-B, Uni-D, Uni-F, etc, leading to universes with ONE outcome, Booker rejects and stays alive, with his daughter. [/sp]
I understand what you are arguing Killuah, but I think the "constants and variables" are the game's excuse for not being so overly complex with the [sp]infinite possibilities where every situation that nobody has ever thought of, would happen anyway. If the game were to go literal with the infinite possibilities, there would be no way to end the game properly.[/sp] It makes sense not to look into the ending that far, even if it defies the logic the game set. Again, the "constants and variables" are the way for the game to make its own rules if you will. Swebonny summed it up.
The problem I have is that the constants are only constants because the allmighty game/god says so, not because they are provided by the Axioms the game is built uppon.
Just beat each [sp]Lady comstock[/sp] battle in under five minutes each (1999 mode). Upgraded Sniper and upgraded Devil's Kiss work like a charm.
The problem I have is that the constants are only constants because the allmighty game/god says so, not because they are provided by the Axioms the game is built uppon.
Heads or tails? Hint: the answer is heads.
So I've listening to this a lot And I was looking through a comments and saw one that I thought rang true (at least to me)
This was a strangely powerful part of the game. Listening to a proud* marching song while fending off denied, desperate, and VERY angry veterans who just want to be recognized for their service and sacrifice. It's almost tongue in cheek, almost satirical.
I just noticed that the very first audiolog says "He is you, because you are the sinner" and I won't even [/sp] it because that's even more devilish if you don't know that [sp] Elizabeth is a Disney princess, HA, I WONT TELL YOU; PLAY THE GAME![/sp] [editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
So I've listening to this a lot And I was looking through a comments and saw one that I thought rang true (at least to me)
Scratch the "almost" I don't think veterans, old soldiers, enlisted to kill for a cause, need to be honoured but that's a different thread.
I don't think veterans, old soldiers, enlisted to kill for a cause, need to be honoured but that's a different thread.
Christ dude why even bring it up? It is like you want to derail the thread.
Christ dude why even bring it up?
I don't know. That was not necessary. Maybe because I feel better about myself when I can imagine people reading my opinions no matter if they agree or disagree. I'm pretty sure that's it. Different question: Can I register Bioshock 1 to my steam account?
Holy fuck. In one universe Killuah shuts the fuck up. Wait... In one universe, Killuah wasn't even born.

So soldiers of your country shouldn't be honored? That's fucking stupid.
Holy fuck. In one universe Killuah shuts the fuck up. Wait... In one universe, Killuah wasn't even born.
No, me being born is a constant.
How long must I wait before people begin to discuss the gameplay?
How long must I wait before people begin to discuss the gameplay?
I think we're beyond that. There's really only two opinions; it's awesome, or it's shit. Seems to me that the ending makes up for anyone who thinks the gameplay is shit.
How long must I wait before people begin to discuss the gameplay?
Well collecting money is a damn chore and I hated it.
I think we're beyond that. There's really only two opinions; it's awesome, or it's shit. Seems to me that the ending makes up for anyone who thinks the gameplay is shit.
But who am I going to complain to about the streamlining? Seriously, where is the hacking, the alternate ammo, the special currency to buy vigor/plasmid upgrades, the research camera, and meaningful weapon upgrades?
I haven't played Bioshock 1 so I don't know the big differences, but I thought it was fun. Uh, maybe not revolutionizing. But the vigors were nice. And the sky rails were awesome!
But who am I going to complain to about the streamlining? Seriously, where is the hacking, the alternate ammo, the special currency to buy vigor/plasmid upgrades, the research camera, and meaningful weapon upgrades?
Hacking is not Possession more or less (now you can hack people too!), I don't really miss alternate ammo because of the new gameplay elements, spending EVE as opposed to money never made any sense to me, research camera doesn't fit into this story but yeah that would've been nice, and I don't miss the weapon upgrades because I always ended up getting more weapon upgrades than I needed because there were so damn many. Not to mention the awesome vigor/weapon combinations you can pull off in Infinite, I don't think we really needed to focus on weapon upgrades. [editline]3rd April 2013[/editline] Also hacking was a boring, repetitive, pain in the ass.
But who am I going to complain to about the streamlining? Seriously, where is the hacking, the alternate ammo, the special currency to buy vigor/plasmid upgrades, the research camera, and meaningful weapon upgrades?
Well, the special currency to buy the upgrades were replaced with the money that you would buy everything else with. Of course this would mean that you would need to use more of it. So that's what the game gives you, much more money. But instead of killing the Big Daddies you must simply avoid dying, because you will lose some of your money if you die (this is most crucial in 1999 mode). In my opinion, this makes the game more challenging, seeing as dying in Bioshock 1 just seemed like a minor annoyance, since there was no punishment for death, other than being sent back a bit. Hell, the enemies wouldn't even regain their health when you died.
just finished the game on 1999 mode AND surprisingly found all voxophones the ending is even better second time seeing it :(
I would've wished for more tactics needed for the enemies. Sure you can shoot the patriots in the bag and ravens/fire are not effective against the psychos but all in all I think more varied enemies would've been better, imagine killer-toy swarms vulnerable to fire, baby-songbirds that are really really fast or something. Just some creativity not only in enemy design(like it is right now, VERY creative) but also in the fights. As it is right now, specializing on one fighting style beats all the enemies no matter what style.

jesus christ that Boy of Silence in the Comstock house you all know which one im talking about fuck that whole place was so creepy it wasnt smart of me to play it at 2 o'clock in the morning
jesus christ that Boy of Silence in the Comstock house you all know which one im talking about fuck that whole place was so creepy it wasnt smart of me to play it at 2 o'clock in the morning
Heh, I've lost count of how many times I've read people say this almost same exact thing about that particular Boy. It surprised me pretty bad too.
jesus christ that Boy of Silence in the Comstock house you all know which one im talking about fuck that whole place was so creepy it wasnt smart of me to play it at 2 o'clock in the morning
To be honest that whole part felt like they had a cool design and needed a place to implement it so they made that one level. As opposed to the other enemies, it's kinda out of canon. Given [sp] it only exists several years in the future[/sp] but that made it feel even more out of place. [sp]It would be really nice if they implemented some kind of pre-stage of that boy in the 1912 Columbia, maybe some sect of priest adepts who use the gramophone tubes held to their ears to listen to people in public places, that would make it feel less coming out of nowhere.[/sp]
That "Booker are you afraid of God?" "No, but I'm afraid of you." felt so shoehorned in during the actual game. It was kinda silly in my opinion.
That "Booker are you afraid of God?" "No, but I'm afraid of you." felt so shoehorned in during the actual game. It was kinda silly in my opinion.
I'm on my second playthrough and lots of stuff feels like it's added inbetween to be honest. As if they had a lot of stuff done and ready but not the time to put it together. Where it shows most is the [sp] teleportation of stuff. I remember the early trailers were about timetravel and timetravel alone. Elizabeth was opening portals through time, not dimensions. This still remains in what you are porting and how it looks, the turrets barely built, the hooks all being from the time the buildings were built.[/sp] [editline]3rd April 2013[/editline] Also what the fuck is the Songbird? What's its backstory? I feel like this could be explained much much much much better, the tower design didn't account for it AT ALL.
My immersion just got fucking SHATTERED. In the [sp]Shantytown[/sp] there's a sign that says "FIFTH COLUMNIST" The term Fifth Columnist hadn't been coined until the Spanish Civil War that took place over 20 years later.
