Well...yes and no. On a technical level, I think this is by far the best utilization of Unreal Engine 3 to date, and on an artistic level it's pretty much without competition. That said, the faces for the vast majority of NPCs were REALLY disappointing, the animation was sometimes wooden, and I noticed shadows often went missing in areas with a lot of dynamic lighting.
Agreed, especially on the facial animations (Bioshock isn't really known for them, honestly; they looked better on the drugged up splicers). I also felt that a lot of bodies were disappearing on me; is it just my settings, or was I just not noticing the effects of a Devil's Kiss/shock jockey?

On the subject of the NPCs though, this was one that I think they got right. [t]http://i6.minus.com/iermSyH6qD01w.jpg[/t] That scene in front of the quartet was great.
The[sp]gear that gives you 50% movement speed from food[/sp]is fucking annoying, I hope I get a replacement soon since you can't unequip anything.
The worst one was the aim down sight one for me, I was shooting people for 75% damage for so fucking long because I didn't realize I had it on.
Must be your settings because on mine I was turning guys to ash and watching them glow blue left and right.
Yeah, I don't have that high of a PC. That being said, I saw the actual effects of the melting into skeletons and the like, and my Overkill had a nice shade of bluish white. Sorry about so many questions, but I'm getting them from a friend who's questioning them as though the graphics weren't being stretched to their capacity-I doubt he knows anything about the age of the engine being used.

But if they're a part of the level, they always stay there.

This gives it the benefit of being insanely well optimized though. Would be interesting to see what the game could have looked like in Unreal Engine 4 though.

I'm in the market for a new avatar. Anyone have some good Lutece fanart, ideally of Robert.

I think Borderlands 2, the Arkham games, and even DmC looked, graphically, significantly better than Infinite I wish Infinite had better gameplay, it's pretty fucking dull and I found myself wanting to finish the shooter segments as fast as possible just to further the story, which was absolutely fucking fantastic
I'm in the market for a new avatar. Anyone have some good Lutece fanart, ideally of Robert.
There's a post on the front page with fanart of the luteces. I'll keep an eye out for anything else.

I had no idea. And I suppose Mirror's Edge is a damn fine piece of work too. Alright, so Bioshock Infinite is maybe tied with those in my opinion.
Then there's ones like these...
"Booker I found you a health kit, stop eating that disgusting carnie food." "Booker!" "BOOKER STOP RUBBING THAT COTTON CANDY ON YOUR BULLET WOUNDS!"

You been smoking the reefer, son?
So the two red heads that show up every so often are the luteces? I love those two, some of my favorite characters in anything.
Got empty pockets? Best keep on walkin.
Me and my friend did a thing And we continue to terrorize people on our friends list.
I'm just going to ask, is this one a lot like the first. Because I found the first to be boring and never finished it or started the second.

I personally think that this is the best game I have ever played, but some of those facial expressions are pretty funny.
I personally think that this is the best game I have ever played, but you sure can tell how much time they spent on facial animations.
Real life people look just as ridiculous when you screencap them.
I am not done with this game. Probably about halfway through, I guess. I usually don't care about videogame characters in non-RPG games, but damn. Elizabeth... Well done, Irrational.
I wasn't being serious, I just thought her facial expression here was kinda funny.
It's only her's. Even the possession lady (the one that gives you the vigor) will stare into the space above your head when you take it.
God help us if someone gets a face poser working. Elizabeth has the facial expressions of a thousands Mass Effects.
I think the only problems I had with this game were related to character animations. The gameplay felt good and allowed for creative gunfights (especially with skylines), the city was absolutely beautiful (pretty sure I spent over an hour looking at the city before the raffle), the story is mind-blowingly well written, the characters are interesting, the music and sounds fit so perfectly with everything... I was even okay with The Siren battle. But that's because I [sp]used Storm + upgraded Devil's Kiss, so every enemy got killed as soon as they were summoned while I damaged a vulnerable Lady Comstock with my upgraded Hail Fire.[/sp] Unless Saints Row IV or GTAV are the best things ever made, this is my GOTY.
the only games i see being serious competitors to this for goty are gta v and watch_dogs
Speaking of 1999 mode, what is the deal with it? I'm finding it only slightly more challenging than the default Hard mode. Seeing as I'm on my second play through, I don't need the navigation arrow, so having it disabled makes no difference to me. I also always have at least $500 on me when I die, so that whole "pushed back to the last checkpoint if you're out of money" thing is also of no concern to me. The only real difference I've noticed are the enemies being only slightly more challenging. Everything else plays the same. I'm also, as I said, just about to [sp]fight Lady Comstock[/sp] and have yet to or found a need to purchase anything from that one supply vending machine, so I'm well on my way to the achievement as well.
yeah, playing 1999 mode now and it's not all that difficult. i've only died once to my great shame, and it wasn't on any of the handymen (i just made a grave error much earlier). i haven't done ghosty yet but i have a good strategy in mind for it. [editline]2nd April 2013[/editline]
you know I gotta be honest the story and atmosphere are amazing but the actual design for gameplay is seriously bollocks on this one And I gaurantee dumb storm for having an opinion but this one seriously is not fun It's a modern shooter taking elements from classic shooters but they don't fucking mix Having all the enemies kill you in 3 hits but ahving health not regenerate but instead being health kits that are sparse as hell? ughhh god why Why the fuck did they change the formula they had something that worked why they changed it to appeal to brogamers is beyond me cause it's really not fun it's terrible design to give you one set of weapons and ahve you upgrade them and then take them away and replace them with the exact same guns but red and not upgraded and holy fuck Elizabeths' AI is awful literally the only thing she hands you is Salts regardless of your ammo or health count
the gameplay is the most fun i've had in a game in years so you're wrong
Buying stuff out of those general goods vending machines seems kinda pointless in the long run considering you can pretty much scavenge what you need from the environment or off dead chumps. The only time I really started running into ammo shortages was around [sp]the rehab center[/sp]
