because look at all this fucking hype its created? everyone knows its the same thing, he knows everyone knows, it was never supposed to fool anybody, it was always just to create hype and speculation and get people talking. and hes doing a damn good job.
Yeah I get that, and that was awesome at first, but I atleast am just sort of tired of his charade at this point.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not.
It isn't. I swear, I've never seen that done before. Better than the credits saying "Director: Hideo Kojima" and then scrolling just a bit to see "Producer: Hideo Kojima."
I just got my PS3 so i can play through metal gear 4, i like it already, It feels more realistic compared to the others, also, I remember when they still had the leaderboards, i was #1 on completion time for european extreme tanker mission in MGS2. Also had the #3 on the shell missions for a while.
I did this to my notebook [t]http://i.imgur.com/Koy7M8W.jpg[/t] I like it. [editline]22nd March 2013[/editline] There's a missing piece already though :v:
I think I've finally pinpointed my biggest problem with MGS4, and it actually isn't about the cutscenes. I feel like it has too much variety, to the point where it feels inconsistent. The first two acts have good length and require more or less the same tactics, and I enjoyed them a lot. But then act 3 came along, and suddenly it was no longer about using camouflage or CQC. It was about tediously following some asshole through some dark town, which was really annoying and didn't allow for much freedom, because abandoning the guy you had to follow meant having to start the area over. Then you get a rail shooter sequence (you know, the kind of gameplay sequence that only plays one way), then boss fight. End act 3. Then in act 4, you have to learn to stealth your way past gekkos and dwarf gekkos, which I didn't have enough time to get good at because suddenly I had to learn to properly kill the gekkos with a rail gun (using only half the screen). Then you're piloting REX (which, admittedly, was fucking sick as hell), and then the act is over. Act 5 barely had any gameplay. You get your final sneaking area, then you shoot some FROGs, then boss, then you run down a corridor, then you mash like no tomorrow to avoid getting fried, then final boss. And the game is over. The first three games were a lot more consistent overall, and a lot of it has to do with them all taking place in a single location. MGS4, being the "final" installment, had to broaden the scope by taking place in a multitude of locales, and it just makes me wish it would pick something and stick with it. I got good at swiftly avoiding vision cones in MGS1 and 2, and at CQC and camouflage use in MGS3. But MGS4 just tries to do too many things after the first two acts. At least, that's how I see it. Thoughts?
I agree with several of your points, i felt that act three was very reminiscent of Snake eater towards the end and i liked. Shadow Moses was fun even with the lack of people. And act 5 was a bit off. But the final boss makes up for it. In the fact that it wasn't the final boss fight of Metal Gear Solid 4. But the final boss of Metal Gear Solid as a whole.
I had to learn to properly kill the gekkos with a rail gun (using only half the screen)
I hated this part.
Yeah, the final boss itself was really damn cool. I loved it. In regards to Shadow Moses, I think human enemies are a lot more fun to stealth past than robots. You can't CQC robots or really have fun with them in any way.

In the other games, it felt like there was an actual point to the fight, whereas in this the bosses, apart from the ones against Liquid, feel like they've got about as much purpose as those machines that exist to turn themselves off.

And yeah, they felt slightly tacked on, because it didn't feel like they had any story importance whatsoever. But I didn't care, so long as I got fun boss fights. And I did, save for one of them.
I did like Mantis though.
Apparently, wooden crates are transparent to enemy soldiers. I hid behind one and knocked on it to lure an enemy to my position. when he got close, I was still on the opposite side of the crate, trying to make my way around, making sure to stay out of his line of sight. He then spotted me through the crate. What.
Isn't the wooden sword in Revengeance supposed to have Snake's soul in it? I got it and it was just a big non-talking stick.

Tempted to do a vocaroo recording of me trying to sound like kawaii big boss now [editline]22nd March 2013[/editline] yeah fuck it, everybody post their best raiden/snake impressions.
Oh wow, Snake looks really slick with the Young Snake (no bandana) facecamo and the suit.
Yeah I get that, and that was awesome at first, but I atleast am just sort of tired of his charade at this point.
Well yeah, thats why he's making an announcement at GDC.
Oh wow, Snake looks really slick with the Young Snake (no bandana) facecamo and the suit.
Speaking of facecamo, I never used the facecamo in MGS4 because it appeared during the cutscenes and looked awful.
Speaking of facecamo, I never used the facecamo in MGS4 because it appeared during the cutscenes and looked awful.
I got to Granin in MGS3 while still wearing the goddamn Raiden mask, the lips didn't move, it was weird
Oh wow, Snake looks really slick with the Young Snake (no bandana) facecamo and the suit.
Young Snake + South American Rebel disguise = Virtuous Mission Snake.

Reminded me of this:
Young Snake + South American Rebel disguise = Virtuous Mission Snake.
Sucks that you can only use those disguises in the chapter you get them in.
Sucks that you can only use those disguises in the chapter you get them in.
If you could use them anywhere I would only use the Chapter 3 coat. And a pistol. And it would be called Metal Gear Noir.
If you could use them anywhere I would only use the Chapter 3 coat. And a pistol. And it would be called Metal Gear Noir.
L.A. Gear.
Solid Payne
Young Snake + South American Rebel disguise = Virtuous Mission Snake.
Or it could be Solid Snake from Metal Gear 1 and 2 (since he is wearing M81 woodland in that disguise which is probably what he wore in those games since it was the camo of the US Military in the 90's)
You think Big Boss would have been afraid of Vamp at all?
He would've CQC'd the shit out of him, and littter him with bullets from Patriot till there's only a puddle.
Young Snake + South American Rebel disguise = Virtuous Mission Snake.
Does anyone have a screenshot of this? Maybe with the bandana as well?
Speaking of facecamo, I never used the facecamo in MGS4 because it appeared during the cutscenes and looked awful.
I use it because it appears in cutscenes. :v:
