Well at least Kojima said why in the interview. We'll just have to wait and see.
I would think the whole "phantom pain" ordeal would teach one not to take a thing Kojima says or does as absolute fact without a secondary source :v: [editline]27th March 2013[/editline] Oh well, after the interview, he's going to be pressured by fucking everybody in existence to add him back in.

Great, he just killed an icon and now i'm going to go through the entire game giving a big hefty sigh every time X generic voice actor says anything.
Dont trust him. Seriously. Can we get a list of the times he's trolled everbody? Like the entire existence of the plant chapter of mgs2 and Raiden?
Good lord who cares, we can move on from hayter. Quit being a big baby.
Good lord who cares, we can move on from hayter. Quit being a big baby.
It'd be easier if he hasnt been the voice of snake for 15 years in 8 games. [editline]27th March 2013[/editline] Im still calling bullshit.
What if Kiefer Sutherland injects Big Boss with something [sp]nanomachines[/sp] that makes him hallucinate, and we're just supposed to think it's Psycho Mantis?
Nanomachines in the 1980s?

A nanomachine back then would be the size of both of EVA's tits.
Wasn't the whole nanomachines deal basically started by Naomi?
I was kidding about the nanomachines part, but if they have advanced AI robots I don't see why it's not possible. But maybe some kind of drug that makes him hallucinate, it'd explain why it doesn't make him feel better. Also, when Kiefer says "get you back in the game", do I detect subtle fourth wall breaking?
Kojima said before he wanted to bring back a character he killed off before, so its most likely Psycho Mantis.
Good lord who cares, we can move on from hayter. Quit being a big baby.
Like, everyone who's put any time into the series? Big Boss may as well be another character without Hayter. Whoever the hell is voicing him now makes him seem like Max Payne or generic shooter squad leader #22123. I've had multiple people ask me if it was Nolan North. "David Hayter" is actually a top trending topic on twitter right now. People are fucking pissed. His voice is probably the most defining feature of Solid Snake/Big Boss, and of the series as a whole.

Kojima managed to piss everyone off so much, barely anyone is acknowledging the significance of Ocelot. God damn Kojima, look at what you did.
Snake is nothing without Hayter. I have a hard time seeing myself giving the slightest shit about playing as Big Boss if it's just some random cunt no one's ever heard of doing the voice of the most iconic video game character of all time.

Like, everyone who's put any time into the series? If Hayter is ever in another MGS, it will most likely be as a young Solid Snake. I hope he can still pull off a young Snake.
I think you might be exaggerating just a bit.
I wouldnt be suprised. Do you remember what happened when they announced David Bateson wouldnt be playing 47 in Hitman Absolution? Holy donkey titty balls the rage.
Kojima managed to piss everyone off so much, barely anyone is acknowledging the significance of Ocelot. God damn Kojima, look at what you did.
I'm not entirely sure if it is Ocelot. Sure he's got the general appearance right down to the cowboy boots, but Ocelot had a thin face in all appearances and now this chap has a much wider jaw line and a different face to both young and old Ocelot, who actually look pretty similar to one another.
It totally is ocelot. Big Boss' face is pretty different too.
The old games never ran on the Fox Engine, did they?
They were able to recreate Big Boss and Kaz, and Ocelot's face has been consistent throughout previous engine changes. If you're trying to say the Fox Engine can't handle thin jaw lines then I seriously don't know what to say.

Besides, Ocelot is younger than his old appearances and older than his young appearance.
Well there's all this shit to him that signifies ocelot. The attire and everything. But nooooo, that jaw line. It's someone else, can't be ocelot.
My internet is down the shittier till the end of the month which means I can't watch any of these videos.
Kojima is really trying to piss off the fans so he doesn't have to make anymore mgs games.
I think you might be exaggerating just a bit.
No. I literally don't see myself connecting with Big Boss at all now. I'll probably have as much of an emotional connection to him as I would a character in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Solid Snake went through accelerated aging to the point where his hair turned gray and he needed a muscle suit to do much of anything, and he kept his voice. Big Boss goes into a coma for 9 years but comes out of it still mostly young (48) and able and his voice has changed to an utterly different tone that would probably be completely impossible to naturally shift to in real life? How does that make sense? Sure his voice is different in MGS4, but this is 30 years later after he was nearly incinerated alive, most of his body destroyed, then put in a cryogenic coma for 20 years before waking up at the ripe old age of 79. How are they going to explain his voice being so different so shortly after peace walker during the ground zeroes prologue?
Kojima is really trying to piss off the fans so he doesn't have to make anymore mgs games.
Or, he's trying to get the fans to hype the game up. Have you googled "phantom pain" recently? Do it. Go to page 100 on google searches. You'll still find MGS related results. Its working. He had a fear of the game not selling because it tackles socal taboos, so he's basically hyping the game up so it'll sell bucketfuckloads and he and konami wont have to worry.
It's a MGS game being released on major platforms, I think his fear of it not selling is a little unfounded personally.
