I also just lost about... the last 45 minutes of progress, so I lost that. I dug down in a little island since I burnt the main island, so all the mobs were outside the walls of my island like this:

Now every now and again when I go up there a skeleton shoots an arrow and hits one of the exploding ones so it goes over the walls. This happened, it exploded and took out some walls. Water was rushing in, I blocked it and ran down the stairs to block it from going down more...

That's real intuitive. Since you sealed the island off, you can still walk about above-land at night, right? Do you have torches above-ground to stop mobs spawning on your island?

I don't mind that layout, it works well, but I hate having tiny 1 tile wide mine shafts. It feels cramped and spooky. Anyone have any cool designs for mines that they'd like to share?
I never survive beyond the first night. :saddowns: I always get a little farm running and then forget to mine for coal to make torches. Next thing I know, a wide assortment of skeletons, zombies, and spiders are tearing bits of flesh from my corpse.
When multiplayer indev (or whatever it'll be called at that time), I will be unable to tear myself from it. I can tell already.

Same with me. Randomly generated environments, limited resources, dangerous creatures, exploring, fighting, it will all be so amazingly awesome. I'm definitely going to form an underground society of miners.
