Would be awesome, but I think he should forget infinite for now. Multiplayer first, then HUGE maps, IE like someone else said 10x the size of Huge map already, THEN get to work on infinite. Would definitely make it better.
And that whole "Sharks eat you" and "Big sea monster eats you" when you're too far out would work.
Would love for there to be continents and we can build some sort of a boat :D
He needs to completely rework in many ways to get infinite maps to work. He would have to redo multiplayer after he gets infinite maps working.
Oh god, with massive maps in indev, and the giant creatures he was working on a while ago, giant sea monsters? Automatically hunt you if you go out too far, variety would be nice too. But I'm talking massive beasts that lurk.
that's all I need is a 20-block-long shark circling around me as I'm building a castle on the water...

Oh god, the infinite maps! I don't like infinite maps in games, I always get overwhelmed. Plus, we'll be waiting for MP even longer than we already are!

my only worry for an 'infinite' map is that there's more room for enemies to spawn and make their way to me at night. :ohdear:

open server.meta and remove the line after fpsea = true

I REALLY wish I had indev. I have some money, so I suppose I could buy it, but I don't have a card to use. A shame, because Indev looks really fun.

ask a friend/parents to do it in exchange for your paper cash?

Go to a grocery and get a cash card.

tl;dr here
I wasn't aware paypal accepted prepaid cards. Unless it works if it's just a one-time purchase sort of thing, and not actually storing money.
Haven't posted in awhile. Or played, but made this today.

Aww, damnit, Andrew.
Why did you delete the ability for mods to boot worlds, Hai2joo won't boot mine. :c
The fog would have to get shorter, probably maxed out at around the second longest view distance now.
Multiplayer servers would require a lot of ram unless it constraints players to a certain area. (at least 32 mb per player, probably more, if they’re far away from each other)
No online saving! To share a level you have to manually give it to your friend.
Well that's enough to make me not want infinite levels. You wouldn't be able to see jack shit, servers would have far fewer players, and you can't send levels easily.

Paypal won't accept prepaid cards. You cannot buy Minecraft with a prepaid card.

I think infinite maps would be cool but only good for certain situations. There could be problems with players getting too spread out. For example, it would be really easy to grief - just start running in one direction and don't stop. That would make the map file size bigger and bigger.
If he does implement them, he should keep finite maps as an option.
The only major advantage I could see for infinite maps would be survival multilayer, you would be able to walk off a few areas and set up your own town or city, if a big enough server did this with enough players you could theoretically have wars, need messengers ect.

So there's no way for me to buy it unless someone gives it to me as a gift? If someone would do that for me, then I could get a prepaid card and gift them a steam game in return.

Just make sure they write it down, otherwise:
A: Tell King B in the town of Isengard, 5 game blocks from here, that I require 5 cotton wool blocks. I need them to pay my debt back to King C within 2 nights, or he will have my town slaughtered and burned.
Messanger: Yes Sir!
*Messanger falls in cave*
*Messanger falls in water after getting out of cave*
*Messanger is stopped by road bandits*
*Messanger gets to Isengard Castle*
Messanger: I have a message from King A sire!
B: What is it?
Messanger: He requi- wait...
Messanger: I forgot.
B: Well you better run back now, my soup's getting cold.
*Messanger gets stopped by more road bandits*
*Messanger falls in water again*
*Messanger falls in cave again*
*Messanger finds King A's castle in ruin and filled with zombies*
Messanger has been IP Banned!
